I learn so much each week with Travis! He is a true professional. Travis responds quickly and makes it very easy for you to book a class on his website. My favorite part of Travis is that he can intuitively change direction or bring in new techniques based on my personal interests and skills. His classes feel personal, fun, and even therapeutic!I had to carefully consider whether I could afford guitar lessons, and I am glad I made this decision. I think you will be too!

Travis is an awesome teacher. He has a method that cuts through the tedium and gets right to the fun of learning jazz chords and songs from the great American songbook.

Travis is an incredible guitarist and most importantly a great teacher (those two don’t always go hand in hand). I came to him after playing for ten years looking for somebody who could help me identify my blind spots and move past an almost year long plateau. Travis spotted them almost immediately and gave me the exercises and direction I needed to fill them in. As a person he is genuine, funny and a friend I look forward to meeting with each week. As a guitarist he is versatile, knowledgeable and a lot of fun to play with. I have worked with a few guitar teachers over the years, so I can say with full confidence that Travis is a top rate teacher and I couldn’t recommend him highly enough!

I am starting my second month of lessons with Travis and I have to say it’s been a blast. As an amateur player I am getting an education on some of the numerous and amazing intricacies of the fretboard. Now I know why certain chords and melodies are used in certain songs. My daughter likes to surprise me with gifts pertaining to the guitar - backing track discs, subscriptions, etc. She hit a home run with a gift pack of lessons with Travis. He has renewed my passion for this wonderful instrument!

Travis is the greatest. He caters to anything you’re interested in working on even if you have no idea what you want to get out of the lessons. He guides you and is always throwing in little tips and tricks on top of the things you’re working on in the lesson, which has you leaving the lessons feeling like you know some secrets other guitar players don’t. Moreover, he’s incredibly communicative and even checks in during the week to make sure you know what to be working on in between lessons. Travis is the real deal. Give him all of your money.

Travis is amazing. I have tried over the years to learn with teachers but for some reason was never able to understand the material. Travis taught me in a way that I retained and made sense of all the information and I am finally able to play the guitar freely. 100% Highly Recommended!!!!

Travis is an amazing teacher! When I came to him had no idea how to even strum on the ukulele. I was a total beginner and after the first couple lessons I was already playing my first song! Im so amazed by the progress Ive made in such a short amount of time. Hes made learning the ukulele really fun and rewarding.

I had been playing guitar for a few years before I started with Travis...Practicing every day, following online courses, and watching countless hours of lessons on YouTube.I was making steady progress, could learn at least SOME version of just about any song, and was playing solos out of the basic pentatonic shapes. Then one day I decided to give Travis a try...Within the first 10 minutes he had already corrected 2 bad habits (both my vibrato and bending were a bit out of tune). Easy enough to correct, but it made a world of difference... and more importantly, it would have taken me months, maybe even years to notice on my own.I realized right then and there that I still had a LOT to learn... and I was hooked. At the end of the day, learning the guitar can be hard... but its night and day easier with the help of a great instructor. Someone whos done it himself, taught it to others, and put in the hard work to become a truly amazing musician.Travis is all of that and more.Part instructor, part coach, and always enthusiastic, Ive learned more in 4 months with Travis than I did in all of those years playing alone... all the while having more fun than ever.Im now playing over chord changes, seeing shapes all over the neck, and making music that ACTUALLY sounds like music. It seems like Travis can play any style... hes taught me some funk, some country, and some jazz... and hes got a great answer to any question you throw at him - no matter how crazy. One more thing I love about working with Travis - hell help you design a practice plan so you can get the most bang for your buck, and then get back to the real reason we do this... playing, making, and sharing great music.Bottom line: whether you want to learn your first song or become a professional musician, youll get there faster with a great instructor... and I can not recommend Travis enough.

I started taking lessons from Travis right after I bought my first guitar. He made the process fun, easy, and interesting, and gave me the opportunity to guide the content of the lessons (e.g. choosing songs I was interested in learning to play and even helping me with self-written material). He gave me all the tools I needed to really dive into writing my own music. I had a great experience working with Travis!

I’ve been playing guitar for a few years now and I’ve studied with a small handful of teachers around town — a few of them pretty good. But while they taught me chords, some intros, solos and even a few songs, Travis taught me how to become a better musician.Travis has given me the skills to pick up new songs pretty easily and how to do more with them than just strum up and down. He taught me about the elements of good performance. I’ve learned when to play quietly and when to play loud. How to add to a song with inventive licks or unusual chords. I’m a terrible singer, but he’s taught me to open my mouth and not sound awful. In addition to our one-on-one lessons, Travis gets his students together in occasional group jam sessions. In small groups we learned how to play as a band — how to play lead, or rhythm, how to improvise licks and solos. I’ve even picked up some skills on bass guitar.Learning guitar has to be about something more than just making musical sounds. He teaches us the practical skills we need to deliver a strong performance. Ive learned to understand my instrument and Travis has put me on my way to becoming a well-rounded musician. There are some good teachers out there but I found that with Travis I make real progress each month beyond what the others could give me. I’ve gone from being a beginner to studying some really cool advanced skills. If that’s what you’re looking for in an instructor, I recommend that you give Travis a call while he’s still got time to take on new students

At first I wasnt sure if picking up the guitar again and starting from scratch was right but I knew I was in the right place as soon as I had my first lesson with Travis! I am always getting ahead of myself and I can get so worried when trying to learn something new, especially with music because it can seem so complex and structured. Travis has a wonderful way of targeting your process of learning and making lessons so fun and seem effortless. He really cares about you enjoying your lessons and getting you where you want to be. Im always learning and hes always challenging me to be the best that I can be. Ive been taking lessons for about 3 months now and I am so thankful that I found him. Ive seen so much improvement in myself and I am capable of things I never thought possible. If you are looking to start guitar but you arent exactly sure where to begin, I assure you this is the place. My experience has already been so great and I cant wait to continue!

Ive had an amazing experience taking guitar lessons with Travis! I grew up playing other instruments but it had been years since I picked anything up and I was intimidated. Travis creates the perfect balance of challenging me while keeping it fun and accessible. I have a crazy schedule so while I live close to his studio, Ive taken advantage of his Skype lessons a few times and got just as much out of it. My main goal was accompanying myself singing and working on my own music and Travis has helped a TON with that.. I think it adds a lot that hes a working musician and songwriter in his own right. Cant recommend him enough if you want to learn a ton and have fun.

Travis is my sons guitar teacher. I was very fortunate to have found Travis via an internet search several years ago. Travis is a fabulous guitar teacher who goes above and beyond the role of an instructor. Travis cares immensely for his students and the progress that they make with him. He checks in regularly and oftentimes has acted in the role of a mentor or counselor. He is passionate about his craft. My son had applied to Berklee College of Music in Boston and didnt get in the first time. Once, we hired Travis to work with my son, Ryan reapplied and was accepted. We attribute much of my sons success to his work with Travis. My son continues his sessions via Skype with Travis. I couldnt begin to give Travis the praise that he deserves. Trust me, work with Travis and you will be very pleased.

I am an intermediate guitar player (singer/songwriter) based in the Bay Area, and Ive been taking online Skype lessons with Travis for over a year. We work on all aspects of guitar, live performance, and even my singing, the improvement of which being no less than a miracle.Having taken years of lessons in piano, violin, and viola, I can honestly say that Ive learned and improved more through my sessions with Travis than with any of my other instructors. This unprecedented progress speaks to Mr. Raabs skill as both a musician and a teacher. Ive found him to be intuitive, professional, clear, articulate, and patient- and I truly look forward to every lesson.

After doing some research and taking a few lessons from different people, I was definitely convinced that Travis was the best teacher for me. However, I was still a bit hesitant about committing to virtual lessons over in-person lessons. Fortunately, it didn’t take long for me to realize that Travis has the rare ability to communicate in a way that makes it always feel as though you’re in the same room.I can confidently say that his “virtual lessons” are every bit as effective as in-person lessons would be. And not only that, they are also incredibly convenient and time-saving. Travis has set up a system that makes connecting with him an absolute breeze and scheduling lessons through his website is a simple and quick process.Travis is a great communicator and has a knack for explaining things in ways that even a beginner like myself can understand. On top of everything else, Travis is also just a really good guy and he truly cares about his students.
