I think this program delivers what is promised. I was in the screenwriting/directing program. I definitely feel like I got a lot of value out of my screenwriting mentor. They were very responsive and gave me great writing feedback. And were also willing to hop on a call and give advice on the fly.My directing mentors helped when asked but they definitely expected you to do a lot on your own, which may work for some but I struggled with. They taught me about editing and using a camera, but it was more difficult with anything beyond that. The only negative I have is the textbook, which has some good advice, but a lot of it only works for white men.Overall, I believe this program delivers what is promised and you can learn a lot.

I took the film production and editing program. Your experience may vary depending on the mentors in your area you are assigned. Luckily I had a good film mentor and a great writing mentor. They do a great job and giving you hands-on experience as soon as possible. I love that they put you with a mentor to teach you about film. I believe the way every mentor mentors is different, but me personally, my mentor had me watch 3 movies a week and write three reviews. I usually wrote 10 pages of my script a week and read a few scripts. I think the experience was valuable I really enjoyed my mentor he was kind and always willing to go out of his way to help me with what I was struggling. The only few criticisms I have are that 1 I think people need longer to write their scripts, the type of person I am is I need to take time to make things good. I think a lot of people would agree, otherwise you have a half done screenplay that you have to pitch to a studio. 2 I wish I was in person in a studio but because of where I was located (and Covid) I wasn’t able to unfortunately. Overall a great experience that I will remember and hopefully benefit and get a career out of.

I learned quite a lot from the lessons that were assigned to me weekly but nothing beats having a mentor that not only gets your foot into the door giving you the opportunity to connect with real professionals in the field. My mentor was always there for me if I had any questions and went above and beyond anything I expected. My academic facilitator called weekly and answered any questions I had and offered advice on projects I was working on. WOW TIME FLEW BY! And thats exactly why I wanted to do this program. The entertainment is always moving forward and changing and I didnt want to have to go to school for 4 plus years just to get out and start at the bottom somewhere.. So Im SO GLAD I found this program instead! 6 months flew by and it was seriously the best decision I couldve made for myself and my goals for the future. The greatest part of this program was the fact that I got assign to a SUPER awesome mentor who was/is able to help me grow in my craft and actually get me onto sets right from the get go! Like seriously, the first legit film set I was ever on and it was a feature length horror film, COULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANYTHING MORE PERFECT! Im also so grateful to my academic advisor because I was never left in the dark and he was always there to help me and answer any questions I had and also just super nice to have a friendly chat with! I am so appreciative of both of them helping me in taking the first steps in what I want to be my life long career path. Thank you!

There are not enough words to describe the skills and experience that I obtained during my education at RRFC. Having a previous education in Audio Engineering at Musicians Institute and then The Recording Connection, after a few years in that industry I realized I wanted to be in control of what I created and not so much only editing other peoples work. I had been doing my own film stuff since Covid started and I recalled my positive experiences with The Recording Connection, so I looked for a film program and what do you know... I found the Film Connection. I knew if it was anything like the hands-on in-studio experience I had with the Audio Engineering program I did through RRFC then I would have a great education in this field. I was able to pick a local studio where they set me up with my mentorship. Having this mentorship was crucial in the application of the ebook lessons and beyond, creating networking opportunities and relationships that continued after I completed the program. Also having access to my own academic advisor who gave me the best support pertaining to the program and beyond. My advisor Elliot, was highly supportive and invested in my experience through the program; always checking my understanding of key concepts and techniques. He always reached out to me, and never failed to be there for me when I needed clarity. He made sure to always reach out to me at least weekly to see how I was doing. The experiences and relationships that I have with my mentor Ken and advisor Elliot have been great and I hope will continue. RRFC provides career making relationship building opportunities I havent seen anywhere else. I learned so much more with RRFC than I ever thought I would through a school program. Upon graduating I now have the confidence to move forward in my career as a filmmaker.

Film Connection or RRFC (Radio Recording & Film Connection) is a easy-going institute and not as high-demanding for time and work like typical standard colleges are. This school does not have a campus nor any specific due dates for assignments which makes time management, transportation and attendance very easy and relaxing making it to where you can set your own schedule to get the things you need to get done done and they partner you up with excellent mentors for the area of expertise youre aiming for. I originally enlisted in the program after being informed by my friend. Having completed the program, I can say it was a learning experience for sure that present great opportunities. There are a lot of different ways to break into the industry, a lot of which probably dont require as much money as Film Connection is asking for. However, I felt that having the chance to work with someone who is already in the industry and who already owns equipment you can work with was well worth the money. Overall, the experience with the mentors is great. Where I felt the program was lacking was the curriculum. Much of the text book and courses seem outdate with many links to videos coming up as unlisted or deleted.

I decided on Film Connection because it felt like it would help me get immersed in the industry. I though it was an amazing opportunity so I just sought after it. This program definitely gave me those opportunities to make those connections happen. My mentor was great. He gave me insights into the business, the industry, things I should work on. Then he would tell me stories of what to expect when it comes to shoot, even on shorts or on big features. He gave me a lot of insight I didnt really know about the business beforehand. If I had any questions hed answer them and then sometimes he would hook me up on dates with short films that maybe need PA work or something I might be pursuing in. I wanted to pursue directing, so my mentor gave me a lot of opportunities to go on sets, work with the director or with other positions to give myself other knowledge andexperience.I also got to work on my own shorts where he helped out a lot because as producer and actor, well especially the producer part, he knows the whole rundown. How much things cost, who to get, he really helps you to figure all of that out and to build connections so when you do want to make another short film you can rely on those people who can also rely on you, all through my mentors help. So its really a nice web that he creates, or any mentor can create.Since graduating, Im going to be directing a short film for a student whose actually producing a couple of films, short films. So Im definitely still working and my mentor keeps feeding me opportunities as they come up. There should always be something coming up soon, which Ill be on that one which is going to be very exciting.

I did my due diligence and research, and found the Recording Radio Film Connection. I reached out to the program and connected with Gervais Maillard, the Lead Career Services Advisor, who could not have been more helpful and efficient. Gervais understood the exact type of production assistant help our TV shoot required, and sent us over information on several students who expressed interest in assisting with our project, so I could vet them immediately. The best part was that I had originally reached out seeking help in Reno, but ended up with wonderful PA help in LA, as well! And, just when I thought it could not get any better, one of our skilled assistants in Reno stepped in to help G&E and to grip for us one day. Truly the best part for me was receiving messages when we wrapped production, thanking us for changing their lives and that they were grateful to put their Film Connection training into practice on a real Hollywood film set! Thank you for your services and I will be back for our next production!Best,Brooke Lewis Bellas

I have not been pleased with this program. I thought it would be a great experience but in the end was told by the career person they wouldnt be able to help me be a cameraman because of time. Its disappointing that they have a contract agreement but also to send payments they cant even send the payment out. If you do this program make sure you know the contract. After several major issues happened i could not allow them to just take the money only to hope i might get something after being a pa.
