The staff does a great job with the Teddy group. Class size is small so instructor can spend one on one time with each child. My grandson is really becoming more comfortable with each lesson.

Great place for childrens swim lessons. My 11 year old finished his first class today and cant wait for the next one. They even have make up classes when you miss for emergencies!

Love this place. We had tried other swim lesson providers in the Louisville area before but Bear Paddle has the right technique and setup for all kiddos. The pool is a warm saltwater pool which is welcoming and forgiving without the burn of the chlorine which can be off putting to new swimmers and the staff has always been polite, courteous and knowledgeable. Family swim night is an excellent bonus. All said we couldnt be happier.

My 3 yr old daughter loves her swim classes! They take it easy with her and are careful not to push her out of her comfort zone while also making sure shes learning new skills. I particularly like the humpty dumpty skill at the end of every class where they practice what to do if you fall in the pool. The instructor to child ratio is incredible and the teachers really do a good job!!

Let me start by saying the swim instructors are great. However, I have been bringing my 6 month old in for classes and every thing is way too advanced for her to actually be learning anything. we wanted more of a survival class. We did decided to give it a try for three classes and then decided we wanted to delay classes to where she will get more benefit. Well, NO one told us that you HAVE to submit this in writing 30 DAYS before you want to stop attending. Im quite upset because I never signed anything that said this, nor did anyone go over their policy with me. I now have to pay for another $80 worth of classes we are getting no benefit from. Had someone told us this when we signed up, we wouldnt have.EDIT 3/20- Reduced to 1 star because its been over 3 weeks and I still not got a refund from them. I had to file a BBB complaint and send several emails to even get them to respond

We brought our 6 month old son in. He has a great time. His instructor Molly is friendly and engaging. Everything is clean and kept up. Great spot for us to start our son onto some thing active.

I can’t say enough about how wonderful Bear Paddle Swim School lessons have been for my boys! We started them in swim about a year ago and the progress they have made has simply blown me away! Bear Paddle Swim School specializes in water safety training for children of all ages as well as swim techniques. We love the unique layout of the pool where there are small square sections roped off making the kids feel more safe in their environment and the small class sizes, making it feel like a much more personalized experience.

We love this place. Best by far! All the employees are fantastic and very helpful. I love the fees back I get towards the end of camp to let me know how she is doing. Keep up the great work.

Our youngest of 4 children did 2 sessions of the swim summer camp. This was by far the best experience we ever had with swim lessons. It definitely makes a difference getting swim lessons from a place that specializes in swim lessons. The techniques Bear Paddle uses to progress kids through proper swim technique are amazing! My daughter loved earning patches and this challenged her to get better.

Our 2 year old has enjoyed going to Bear Paddle for over a year and its made a big difference in her confidence in the water. The facilities are nice and classes are well organized. Instructor feedback can sometimes be limited or generic, but if you ask for specific help theyll give you good information.

My daughter will no longer be attending bear paddle. I do not need to explain myself over the internet, as to why. I will simply be making a walk in THIS week to be sure that we are no longer being charged! My daughter will be going else where, to someone who is ONE ON ONE with her, I want my daughter to actually be able to save her life. This is not the place.

If your kiddo is like mine were and you have tried everything to help them learn to swim, Bear Paddle is your answer! This place is AMAZING! The instructors are compassionate to the kiddos and make their lessons so fun that they dont even realize they are learning to swim. It is a top notch facility and leaves you wanting for nothing. The staff is phenomenal as well. My girls are comfortable and let me tell you, that doesnt come easily. We are HUGE FANS!

After only 3 lessons, my 4-yr-old daughter is seriously learning to swim on her own. She is always so excited to come to Bear Paddle! I am really impressed with the staff and facilities. I feel like they pay attention to individual needs/abilities, so your child is always being challenged appropriately. I would highly recommend Bear Paddle.

We started our son there couple months back. We love the facility and staff. They are always very friendly and the facility is always clean. Our son loves learning and always ask if its Swim day! As with most things we wish the classes where a little longer but that doesnt stop us from coming. Especially after the great experiences you and your child will have.

This place is nothing but crooks. Be sure to read about cancellation policies!! Also, there seems to be no real progression until you threaten to pull your kid, then they miraculously “get to graduate” to the next level. Do not waste your money like I did. It also took DAYS to get calls back about cancellation, actually, I kept calling, they never did. then I was told I had to do it in person and I missed the cut off so I was charged an extra month that I wouldn’t have been charged if someone called me back timely after getting voicemail after voicemail.

We absolutely love Bear Paddle! From the first point of contact the staff have been nothing but responsive, attentive and flexible. The classes are small which allows for indivudalized attention and assessment. The instructors and supervisors know my children’s names and are excited to see them improve. The facilities are clean and modern. We have had an all around great experience at Bear Paddle!

Our kids have been taking lessons at Bear Paddle for about 9 months now. They have progressed so fast - earning their patches and moving level to level! The program works!We have though had a few recent concerns. We have noticed the coaches changing a lot lately, though most have good interaction with the kids. Also, the coaches do not seem to get enough support when a child in the class is not behaving appropriately or causing a distraction for the other kids. We are to the point we feel we may need to change class times, but that can be challenging to find class times that work for our family.

My 2 year old has learned so quickly and now loves to go under to dive for rings! It’s been a great experience for her and my husband and me, who have taken turns doing the class with her. She absolutely loves it and we can’t wait to get her into more advanced classes as she gets older. We also love that the pool is salt water, which is much more gentle on her sensitive skin.

We were not impressed with Bear Paddle at all. Our kids did 4 lessons there and had 3 different instructors over that short time. It makes me wonder why such a high turnover. The place itself is nice enough and clean, but aside from that it was not worth the money. The instructors didnt really engage the kids nor did they even have a plan of teaching that was apparent to us. Everything moved so slow and my kids were bored to death waiting their turn. It seemed like they wasted a lot of time splashing water in a cup on their cheeks/shoulders than they did actually swimming. One issue I had is that the instructors didnt speak to the parents at all. No introduction or anything. Perhaps it is just the college age communication style, but I didnt appreciate the lackadaisical attitude. Engage and speak! I would not go back.Edited to add: I see the owner apologized and said they would contact us regarding the situation. No one ever contacted me or tried to contact me. I honestly dont care if they do as we wont be going back here, but I wanted to put that out there as their response made it look like they were trying to rectify the situation.

Great School!

We started taking our daughter in January, because we got a Groupon, and have been going ever since. We like most of the staff there, in particular Liza. She has always gone out of her way to make us feel welcome and make the lessons an exciting time for the whole family, whether we are in or out of the pool! She knows how much our daughter loves the tattoos they have at the front, and is always actively engaging with her. The pool is warm enough so little ones dont freeze like in a regular pool. The lessons are 30 minutes, which is great because it keeps the kids engaged and it changes up what they are doing.

Bear Paddle is a WONDERFUL swim school. The pool and facility are very CLEAN! The staff is so FRIENDLY and SUPPORTIVE. The class sizes are small so every swimmer stays SAFE and has a lot of DIRECT INSTRUCTION. I highly recommend Bear Paddle Swim School for new and experienced swimmers.

The swim lessons are great. My daughters love them and their teachers. However, the experience of dealing with Bear Paddle has not been great. It was extremely difficult to get in touch with someone when I had questions about times. Emails were very delayed. I would sign up for a class only to hear my girls couldnt start because some people were doing make up lessons at that time. Trying to schedule a make up session is extremely frustrating, especially if you work and have multiple kiddos. Ive shown up and the pool was closed due to a kiddo having an accident. (Totally understandable) However, for them to claim I have to make that lesson up with in a week, or lose it is not convenient. You have to give 30 days cancellation notice, which I did on line, but they are now claiming to have no record of it. When I email about it, I get no response.

I am giving Bear Paddle 2 stars solely based on their facilities and the fact that it was very clean. Our first issue of several involved the turn over of instructors and staff. There were times which the instructors were changed mid level. This would then require our child to have to become comfortable with someone new. This impeded their progress. In addition, it, along with lack of attentiveness by the deck boss, left our kiddos wondering what they needed to work on vs what they had mastered. They practiced the same skills repeatedly every week even if they had mastered them in order to move on to the next level. The times the deck boss admitted to not watching our kiddos and couldnt provide feedback they did provide an extra lesson at no cost. Some of the instructors were unable to engage our kids. In fact, in the last month one of our kids has told us he hates to go. Three times our kids suspiciously leveled up or got a patch the very next week after we voiced our concerns. Overall, the amount of time and money spent was not proportionate to the progress they made. At the end of last month we gave our required thirty day notice. Last week they called to inform us they had to cancel our lesson 2 hours prior, due to unscheduled maintenance. That is completely understandable. At that time, I informed them that our schedule could not accommodate a makeup lesson for our multiple kids and I would need a refund for that lesson. I was told to speak with them about it at our next lesson. Today, we were told they would not issue a refund for the class missed. They offered a credit for a makeup lesson to be used within the next 2 weeks. I explained we had already given our notice and would not be available for a makeup before our last scheduled class. They refused to refund our money for the lesson that THEY cancelled. Considering I am required to provide 30 days notice to cancel this is not acceptable to me. We will be returning to JCC for swim lessons when we do begin them again in a couple of months. They are less expensive and much more tailored to the individual and their abilities.

We started lessons as soon as this facility opened and have enjoyed it so much. The infant/early toddler class is a great to get our little one acclimated to water and it is a great bonding experience for us. I look forward to the class all week.

My son has been taking swim classes at Bear Paddle for about a year now. He is getting better and better in swimming. We have changed different swim schools prior coming to bear paddle so I am able to compare different techniques and practices. My son is getting most out of Bear Paddle classes. I like their personal approach. The staff always friendly and tries to accommodate your needs.

They do a great job with my daughter. She is learning to swim independently! I am also pleased with the customer service I receive.

It’s always been a desire for me for my kids to learn how to swim, since I never learned how to. We’ve tried several places and just wasn’t satisfied with facility or technique of teaching. Bear Paddle has been the best experience for my kids. The staff is super sweet, the facility is clean and the instructors are awesome. We love bear paddle! Its such a nice facility and has a great staff. Its a little pricey but if you keep your eye open you can find deals though Groupon. But regardless, the classes are jammed packed with good stuff that will boostbyiur childs confidence in the water.

I used to work here at this bear paddle. Staff was poorly trained. Deck managers were not even out on the deck half of the time. Some deck mangers working there now dont even know the lessons planner. I would not trust my kids with people like this. My sister used to go to this one before she was not making any progress. new people come and go all the time so you will not get the same teacher more than likely. If you are trying to get a job here, I would not do it. The mangers have no idea how to run a business. They paid me the wrong amount of money for over 2 months. These 30 minute lessons should not be $22.50 at this bear paddle. This is not a great place to take swim lessons.

7 weeks with 6 different instructors. It takes 15 min of a 30 min lesson for the new instructor to determine skill level and need and the same amount of time for my kids to warm up to a different instructor each lesson. A few times they havent warmed up. Staff is friendly and the facility is clean therefore I gave an extra star. We had one instructor who held my daughters face down for 4 seconds multiple times while she was resisting. Weve been enrolled for 2 months and now that child went from comfortable in the water and ok with putting her face in to being scared of swim lessons and totally refusing to put her face in. We are pretty pissed. Waste of time and money. I have let the front desk know multiple times about the instructor issue and I get a friendly sorry then return the next week to another different instructor...

Great place clean and friendly. Price is ok. My son has 4 in his class and for 30 mins thats not alot of practice for each student. Also i feel like hes doing the same thing each week and not advancing like he should. I know you should review and get the fundamentals down but im.only able to come 1 time a week. Of course you need to give a 30 day notice so im.paid through Aug and now they tell me they are running a special for $15 classes. Ugh. So im takimg him out at the end of Augest and seeing where he is next summer. Maybe Ill hit some kind of sale.
