Hi! I’m a future professional (that’s what us students are called) at Paul Mitchell Huntsville and my experience here has been amazing! The education and culture is the reason I came to school here. I want to address the comments about how long the services take so that you can understand and prepare for your day at Paul Mitchell the school when you come in for a service. This is a SCHOOL and there’s multiple different levels of experience when it comes to the students. Some of us have been here a year and some have only been here for a couple months. Some of us come to school with previous experience and some of us don’t. We all deserve service experience though! It is a school after all and we come here to learn hands on training! So when you schedule your service, please plan to be there at least a few hours and be understanding when it takes longer than what you expected. The way it works is we start the consultation and then we introduce the guest to our learning leader and we agree with a plan for the service. The future professional will then begin the service and each service has to be checked by the learning leader before continuing to the next step in the service. This insures that you get a quality service and don’t leave with an uneven haircut, etc. Keep in mind there are more students than learning leaders so sometimes even we have to wait to ask a question.Have you ever started a new job and realized it takes you a little longer than others who have been in the position for years? The same thing goes for us future professionals! We appreciate our guests coming in to allow us to practice our skills and timing on each service! One thing you can always count on is walking into an accepting, positive, and uplifting environment! We like to have a fun time at Paul Mitchell while we create and practice our art!Thank you for taking the time to read this, for supporting our education and future careers, and for being understanding ❤️

The staff was nice but Im pretty sure I got the worst relaxer I ever had. If you have ethnic hair stay far away. I had two students working on my hair. The instructor that was supposed to be supervising stayed in the office the whole time. They had no idea how to handle my hair. They barely processed it and it still feels thick like I havent gotten my hair done in weeks. I gave them a chance because the beauty schools back home always did a good job. Dont go there to save a few bucks. Make sure the stylists have experience with your hair type beforehand.

A friend recommended this school because of her positive experience. It was so easy for me to make an appointment on line. The stylist who took care of me was 5 months into the training. She did a great job and the instructor was there for each new step. My hair has never looked so good. I went in for a wash, trim and blow out & left a sold customer. All for $13.

Keisha and an instructor did a wonderful job with a trip and shatter thinning my hair. I loved the end result and think the service is a good value for the quality and price of the job.As long as you have a little time (it was about 1 1/2-2 hours long), I can recommend it.

My mom and I went here to get a haircut and I got a blowout with my haircut as well. Peyton and Kim did wonderful jobs. Our hair is fine but very wavy and they told me the best treatment for my hair not to damage it. The instructor came over to make sure everything was perfect, even though they were doing awesome jobs. The cost was significantly lower than going to a salon that isnt a school, and the results were better in my book. Thank you Peyton and Kim, and thank you Paul Mitchell! We will be back.

I first started going to the Paul Mitchell school in Birmingham for haircuts, so when I found out theyd opened one here I was eccstatic! Having a student cut your hair may sound scary, but under the attentive eyes of the professors who readily take over the work to demonstrate, Ive never been unhappy with my results. And personally I find it fun to learn things.I noticed the price recently jump recently, which is a bit disappointing. Students do take a good bit longer to do a cut and style, so Im more likely now to pay the same at Cost Cutters and get back to my day.

Pleasant experience with the ladies I have encountered given they are in a learning stage on how to care for ones hair! My issue is with the front desk. I was overcharged for a visit and was told that when I came back that they will take $10.00 off my service. And so I came back and got my hair done. Upon check-out I mentioned to the front desk that I was told that I will have $10.00 off my charge because of being over charged during my last visit. I showed the receipt from that last visit yet that wasnt enough because she said it wasnt noted in the system. So who was at fault for that? The front desk made me feel like it was my fault for not having more evidence, but what else could I have given her? Especially when the issue was resolved over the phone and was guaranteed that it would be noted under my name. Later, I contacted the school by phone and got passed around and end up listening to a recording while I wait on someone to attend to me but that never happened. I tried calling again a few days later that ended up with me leaving a message. I got a return call from Claire in which she left a message to call her back and so I did. As you know, it was a game of phone tag. This is my last effort to inform the school of this issue. If your customers are aware that their services are performed by students error is expected. However, when it is not a school for front desk clerks having poor customer service will result in loss of customers. Plus, one should not have to go through a journey just to get their $10.00 back from an overcharge. I have to admit I miss coming there and getting my hair done and interacting with the students! You guys have great students and instructors!

I am 25 and just started going to PMS about 7 weeks ago and its has giving me more confidence and structure in my life! They have helped changed my lifestyle to be a more positive, energetic person. If you love beauty& making others feel beautiful this would be the perfect place to start your journey into the industry. It is very fast pace but will train you to handle any hair type and have you ready to tackle any task you are thrown into when you enter the salon world. This place has gave me life again and a second place to call home.

The staff had no idea what to do with my hair texture whatsoever. I understand they are learning but I have went to other Paul Mitchell schools and the students had more attentive and knowledgeable instructors. I had to get my hair washed for 2 hours (Ridiculous). I initially asked them could I be done in about 2-3 hours. I only wanted a wash, deep condition and blow out. I was also passed around to multiple students and the service was not complete due to the student’s attitude and unprofessionalism. Never going back.

I have been going to Paul Mitchell School for about 6 months now and have had cut and color done on every visit. The future professions that have done the hair cut and color have been great! They are very professional and knowledgeable in everything that they do, the atmosphere is awesome and very relaxing. Each step is explained to you as you go along. Most people expect that you should be in and out within an hour, and you will be if you have just a hair cut, but hair cut and color and whatever else takes time. I have never had a bad experience at the school like I have at the other school here in Huntsville. I would most definitely recommend Paul Mitchell the School to any one.

My friend and I went for manicures as a special treat and to support my daughter, who is a student there. We were very disappointed in the nail polish selection. All of the colors were dark and clumpy. The topcoat was thick and took forever to dry. The students that gave us our manicures were very professional and did the best they could with the tools they were given. We are scheduled to return the end of this month. Maybe the school will be able to afford some new summer colors that arent all clumpy. If not, we will go somewhere else to get our nails done. Our husbands did not like the dark colors and we had to take it off and re-paint our nails. We, basically, wasted our money for manicures. I enjoy supporting the students, but I dont want to throw away my money. Thak you for your time and consideration.

I love going to this school! I have learned so much already! This is a school and everyone here is learning. The guests are our top priority but we also want to make sure every guest has a great experience and loves their hair when they walk out which may mean taking the extra time to do it right. Every person in the Paul Mitchell culture has a great uplifting attitude and is so much fun to be a part of! If you are wanting to get a haircut or color that will rock your world this is the place to go! If you are wanting to pursue a career in cosmetology this is the place! The name will help you get a foot in the door in salons across the U.S. And you will become a very educated professional that can go anywhere you set your mind to!

I received a shampoo and blow dry dirt was still left in my head. The manager named Neal Swearengin on duty had a smart mouth and poor costumer service told me the dirt in my head was dandruff. I would never go there again. I believe natural hair techniques are not stressed to the students. I know they are students but they should at least know how to shampoo hair. I wouldn’t have wrote this review if the Neal Swearengin wasn’t so disrespectful when I brought it to his attention that there was dirt still in my head but customer service is everything and Neal is unprofessional.

From the moment you walk in, to the final look at your new do, this place is truly full of Fun Future Professionals. The layout does not allow for much privacy with your student stylist, but that is OK. The instructors that oversee the students are there to observe and assist. This however is rarely needed. They are taught through several phases in order to prepare them for a real work environment. My daughter is in phase 2, and truth be told, this place has opened her opportunity 1000 times than anything shes done in the past. Dont hesitate: book your appointment now at PMTS.

This is the only place I get my hair done at. the staff and students are wonderful! Im reading all these rude reviews, you must have been a rude customer the many times I have been they had extremely rude customers and the students try there best not to be rude back. I loved Olivia there she did my hair a aqua blue and a mint blue/green. they have wonderful products there and help with any questions you may have. the ones of you saying your hair wasnt done, if they have to bleach lighten it etc. and it takes a lot it will damage your hair so sometimes you have to do two seatings, I did its not a big deal and the out come is wonderful! the prices are even better. I HIGHLY recommend it.

They told me at 4pm the day before my wedding that they need me and my 9 bridesmaids to go to their salon an hour before to get ready because the time they confirmed with me at the venue to get ready was not enough time. I told them I could not get all of my bridesmaids there for that time and they didnt even work with me and cancelled the day before. Here is the rest of my letter:I felt that if this really was some sort of regulation I would have known about it 1) the previous year when I was there with my daughter 2) when we first arrived and the lead instructor walked us back 3) when the first mid-level instructor ask the moms to wait in the other area due to overcrowding 4) when I expressed my displeasure with the girl at the counter.I have never been to a salon of any kind that had this rule but just to be sure I looked it up today online with the state of Alabama Board of Cosmetology and Barbering just in case this was some new law I was unaware of. It came to no surprise that I could not find any such rule or regulation.I tried to maintain my cool the best I could as this was a special day for my daughter and I did not want to ruin it, but this mid-level instructor was so rude she sucked all of the joy out of an experience that should have been special for me too.Thank you for taking the time to read this. Perhaps your mid-level instructors can getting a little more training in customer service. I can not get this day back but I can certainly spread the word to make sure others are aware so they are not blindsided and robbed of a special Mother/Daughter moment. They replied to my letter asking me to wait up to 48hrs for a response from the school. After 3 days I let them know I had not heard from them but was not surprised. Not sure what type of response to expect anyway. Within minutes I received this generic response: I wanted to thank you for your feedback on your daughters visit with us. Your experience and happiness is important to us. I really appreciate hearing your feedback so that we can learn from this experience!-Nata TownsendMy reply: Thank you for responding to my email. My question to you is, since there is no such rule or regulation according to the Alabama Board of Cosmetology and Barbering such as described by your mid-level instructor, is this a policy at your location? Please advise so I may know for future reference.Hers:It is a school policy that only the person receiving the service is allowed on the clinic floor.Mine: Just to be clear, this includes minor children, correct?Hers:Yes. Minor children receiving services need the parent or guardian to sign the release form and be present throughout the consultation only.My advice to you is unless you feel comfortable with your children having services performed out of your line of vision and away from your supervision choose a salon more customer friendly.

This was a risk that ended up great... after some issues and extra money spent.Came to get my hair colored the first time with a phase 1 professional, and didnt feel like I was fully heard because the result was nothing like the picture I showed. Stripey highlights, wrong color, not fully cleaned up (hair dye stained on side of face, etc) and over $100. Came in the next morning per satisfaction guarantee, and a more experienced professional fixed it and did an amazing job with what she had to work with. She was very nice and made the second experience much better. Granting I still had to pay $40 for the dye for a mistake the students made, they learned from it and I came out the second time with a great color. All in all, it is a risk to take by which student you end up with, but the second student and her supervisors were very kind and apologetic for what happened.

Booked a mani/pedi for my mom and pedis for my sister and I. First, we waited about 30-40 mins. We wanted to get our pedis and if there was time, get our hair trimmed. My moms mani and pedi literally took 2 1/2 hours. Their nail polish is so old and the application was terrible. There are probably up to 40 students running around and 1-2 instructors, which is clearly not enough. We were told to get our hair trimmed first so we could all get our pedis together. Then because our hairs took so long (for a TRIM ONLY) we were told they could not do the pedicures and that we would have to come back another time as they were going to close soon. This was upsetting because we booked for a pedicure and asked to get our pedicure first together. If there wasnt going to be enough time, then all we wanted was to get our pedicure.Went back the following day waited for 30 minutes following a 2 hour pedicure - the girl would not clip my toes (only file), i had a lot of dead skin on my feet walking out of there, they are not allowed to clean your cuticle area, she only put 1 coat of polish on the then the top coat, and when I got in my car I realized I still had the foot mask on the back side of both my legs. Next time, I will pay the extra few dollars to get a GOOD job done and to save on time.

Beware!! I have had several different services at this Paul Mitchell School in Madison. The first time I went for a color service, my hair looked great! The girl who did it changed her hours and was unavailable for my next hair appointment. I then took my daughter for a Princess day there and she had a blast. I later went in for a manicure, dont waste your money here. I had to go home and repaint my nails. I never said anything to the girl about it because she was so sweet. A month or so later, I went for another color and it turned out terrible! The girl did not do what I asked her to do but I was still polite because I know they are all students and she was very polite to me. I told her it was a little darker than I wanted but still gave her a tip and decided to try it with a different girl the next time. The next time I went in, I told the girl exactly what I wanted and even told the floor manager Ashley. I even brought pictures. The girl was very nice but still decided to do her own thing. I told her it was a darker than I wanted and I couldnt see any of my blond highlights anymore. She told me to give it a could weeks because it would lighten. I told her ok, gave her a tip and left. After a couple weeks, it did lighten up like the girl told me and I was really starting to like this new color. I called and told them I like the color and would only come in for a root touch up on my next appointment. A month later, I received a call from the floor manager, Ashley only 3 days before my appointment and she tells me that since I was not happy with two of my color services that it is best that I find somewhere to get my hair done. What!?? I thought I heard her wrong. I was just in absolute shock over this. I am banned from Paul Mitchell because I made a comment that my hair was too dark??? How unbelievable!! I have never said a bad word to anyone in my life. I am a Christian woman and I would never try to hurt anyones feelings in any way. I told Ashley there must be some mistake. I actually ended up liking the last color and even called and told them. I understand these girls are in training. Why would I be banned because I told the girl that my hair was too dark. Ashley was very rude and just continued with her statement that I need to find someone who can give me better service. How is this training the girls for the real world? If they get a client in the future who makes a comment they dont like, they are trained to ban them from coming back?? Not to mention, I even called after my last appointment and told the girl she was right, it did lighten up and I like the color. I am not sure what is going on with this floor leader but she has a lot of anger issues. I feel bad for the girls there that have to work under her. Anyway, just a warning, if you go to Paul Mitchell, you better tell them how much you love your service, rather you do or not.

I made an appointment for a cut and color. They advertise that instructors are always around. Not True! The only instructor I saw was playing with her hair and it actually looked decent. I gave her a compliment and she shrugged it off and continued to brush her fingers through her hair. I guess she thought she was better then everyone else... She provided no help to ANYONE. She was all that mattered to her (and her conversation). I wanted to just BOLT at this time, but decided to stick it out. I honor my commitments. My hair is still NOT even finished! Now, I have to go to another salon tommorrow to finish the job because everyone was in such of a hurry! STUDENTS COME FIRST, PAYING CLIENTS COME LAST! I was in line about to buy a product., waiting in line behind all of the students so they could eat lunch. They get to go first you know! Then, I was kicked out for stealing some of their conditioner when I had my debit card in my hand! I guess they do not want to sell their products. Heres the fun part: they BASH anyone that carries Paul Mitchell products, except themselves because they are the best and the only ones that carry the real brand. According to them Walmart, Sallys, etc. all have wax in their products. Also, last time I got my hair colored there, the color faded in 10 days and it was PERMINANT! I do not recommendand I would suggest you find a better place to go. These students AND managers do not care about anyone but themselves. BEWARE!!!! If you want a student to do your hair for the lesser cost, there are plenty of places in Huntsville. This one is ranked LAST in my book! ALL IN ALL, I was discriminated against because she was a different race and assumed I was a thief, no trained professionels were around to help, students were clueless, and they leave you with hair that has to be redone. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! Find Any Other Salon!
