Great gym to be a part of and learn the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. With no prior experience in martial arts, Enrique has pretty much taught me everything I know. He is an awesome professor and really helps break things down fundamentally to advanced. Everyone is very welcoming and the atmosphere is great! Plus the music is great 🀟

Great warmups, awesome techniques, and fun times rolling. Enrique takes the time to break down techniques and explains each point, patiently answering any questions along the way. The school welcomed me as a drop-in and felt just like my home gym. IE: introduce yourself, slap, bump and go.I would recommend Southside to anyone in the area or anyone who happens to be in town and looking to train.

I really like this Academy. Prof Enrique is very knowledgeable, and the people there are great. The culture is competitive, welcoming, friendly, and respectful. You can expect to roll really hard and be stretched, but then leave with new friends. The 6 am time slot is really convenient for a working father of 3 like myself. I can sneak out of the house while my family is asleep, learn a new technique, roll with some savages and get home just as the kids are waking up. I often wake up early not wanting to go, but am ALWAYS happy I went in the end.

The detailed instruction from professor Enrique and coach Nik was phenomenal. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed the class so much I came back Saturday morning for the ladies only class and stayed for the following class as well! I will definitely be back. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone interested in jiu jitsu or passing through the Minneapolis area.

Everyone is hungry for knowledge and works hard. If you want to compete, they’ve got a comp team with incredible camaraderie that is always ready to throw down! There’s lots of drilling and positional sparring in class so expect to learn a lot! There are many different class times available (morning, evening, and night), they even have a 6am class which works perfectly with my schedule! They’ve also got a great fundamentals class as well as advanced classes with plenty of time for sparring (both gi and nogi)! The mats are clean, good hygiene is expected, and membership is affordable! If you want to learn BJJ, you’re gonna wanna check this place out!

Ive only just started training at Southside but having trained at a number of schools in a variety of arts I can already recommend this place. Simply put, the teaching is clear, the instructors and fellow students are very welcoming and hard working and there is not a lot of ego on the mat. This is a safe place to train; the students are looking to learn but everyone I rolled with stopped immediately when I tapped and was humble and gracious to their partners. The instructor is open, welcoming, a skilled jiu-jitsu player and loves the art. His passion comes through in his teaching. A great place to train. Definitely recommended!
