Beautiful old church. Gorgeous ceiling with gold and cream detail. Originally Italian parish but now vibrant Chinese community runs it and is in heart if Chinatown. So glad it was not destroyed/sold/let run down. English mass said on Sunday well attended. I learned that Dorothy day worked in this neighborhood and helped the poor here. Great history. May this church survive and thrive for many more centuries to come!
Mass is at 12:00 noon on weekdays.
Loved the sign out front detailing the history but when I tried to go in to say a prayer this afternoon the church was locked tight. Looks very nice from the outside though..
Just wanted to give a shout to the people at this church! We were walking through Chinatown and my daughter really needed to use the restroom. They were nice enough to let us in the school and even walked us through the building to show us where the restrooms were. Truly, this is the kindness that one would hope to see of people who profess to love Jesus.
