When I first started taking my driving lessons I was very nervous, but my instructor Victor was very knowledgeable and professional. He made feel very comfortable and I was able to stop being nervous and driving freely. He is an amazing instructor. I wouldnt go to anyone but him. If your a new driver ask for victor, you will get the best lessons and experience.

The cars are old! The instructor had to hold the wheel so the car wouldn’t go to the wrong side. Please do not waste your money in this place. I am a great driver but they fail you on purpose so you can pay more for the next exam. I went somewhere else and past at the first try. They said I was a great driver. Please do not waste your money especially on the constant exams and driving lessons. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

Just took a class with Victor Best driving experience ever

Extremely rude people. I asked them if thy were vaccinated, since they were not wearing a mask and all of a sudden his next sentence was I am completely booked.Also the cleanliness of the place is non-existent

Rude guy at the front desk he told my sister they are booked til December to shop else where then when our aunt went in who looks to be Caucasian she had a appointment ready for the next week WOW not even gunna get into that !!!!! The road test cars are old aswell! I paid 100 dollars to use a car for my road test and was driven to the road test with 4 other ppl we were all swished in the back seat one in the front with the driver mind you it’s still a PANDEMIC the instructor didn’t put his mask on and when asked if he was vaccinated he said no non of them are but still refused to put a mask on they take advantage of the ppl in the community because they know there is no other driving school in this area. The young guy instructor tried to talk to me and asked me for my Facebook and Instagram instead of teaching me what I needed to learn to pass my road test I’m so done with this place and will shop else where even if I have to pay more. Wish I could give this place 0 stars I would GREAT WAY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE COMMUNITY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very upset with this school. Sent my daughter there to learn how to drive. Ends up that the instructor she had was not vaccinated and refused to wear a mask. When she asked for instructors who were vaccinated, they did not have any and said that maybe there was one driving instructor who might deign to wear a mask.This when the Delta variant is raging across the country, Uber and Lyft have mandated masks for over a year now, the city and the federal government are mandating vaccines for its workers and the CDC says that even vaccinated people should wear masks in closed spaces. Their attitude was threatening not just to get my daughter sick (She is vaccinated - but the delta variant can re-infect even vaccinated people) but also her parents and anyone else she comes into contact with. A car is very small enclosed space.Stay away from this company. Incredibly reckless and irresponsible behavior in the middle of a pandemic.

I’m deciding to choose somewhere else. Simple phone call is enough to sense that this place is unlikely to make DMV hassle easier. They have good package deals though.

Horrible! I ignored all the red flags because the place was close to my house and I bitterly regretted it! I had to wait almost two months to be for a spot in the theoretical course and driving lessons. When I got there for the driving lesson, I found out that it had been canceled (for no apparent reason). It was rescheduled for the day before the practice test. terrible and rude staff

Received horrible customer service from 2 of your workers. Staff was sitting and lounging on a couch while I was asking booking questions and while cat jumped around on counter and chairs. Staff was bothered by my questions and interest in booking a class. Was told to go elsewhere and told by the supervisor that we wouldn’t get along. Super unprofessional and condescending.

This place is wonderful ask for victor he taught me to park in one lesson:) I will recommend my friends and family! they take there, time with youtheir are affordable price’s they have two different locations so if you don’t want to chose the Harlem location you can go with the Bronx and it’s cheaper price overall I passed and got my license:)

Took some 6 or so classes here in March of this year, passed the test on the first try! Had 3 instructors throughout giving different tips but I used what worked best for me and couldn’t be happier 😊

The big guy is the front is very RUDE, not helpful and spoke very rough with us. Need better staff and place was dirty.

You pay what you get. Dirty and very old cars.They dont wear masks in the office and you have to ask them to wear in the car, only one weared without asking. three instructors, three different tips for parking! it is cheap but service is cheap too. Even if i was the only one speaking English in the car, they continue to speak spanish.

Really good place to get your lessons. The staff are excellent. They make you feel comfortable and are very good instructors. Prices are fair.

Whatever you do DO NOT go to this driving school. You will fail if you have no experience with a car/driving. On my way to the test the car transmission or whatever it was was making a scraping sound basically the car was trash. Even the dmv tester asked me if the car was okay as he made a face driving off to begin. The steering wheel was horrible. I paid a lot of money for lessons and I still feel like I don’t know how to drive. And oh the owner is very rude. The workers are good but you can sense the frustration in their voice.

My only complaint was that after 2-3 weeks I was given a road test date, that I totally voiced that I was not ready for. I wanted to polish up on a few things, and feel comfortable before rushing into taking the test. I was told at the front desk that due to covid whatever date is given is given, you can not reschedule :( which I later found out after taking the road test and failing, that was not true at all. YOU ARE ABLE TO RESCHEDULE AND CANCEL YOUR ROAD TEST DATE IF NEED BE!!! Also I took a class the day before my road test. My lesson was rushed and cut short because they needed the car to take students to the road test! I left that lesson with doubt and fear. I was just told yeah yeah youre doing everything correctly but that was obviously not true. I then decided to go to Easy to Learn Driving School, where I took only 4 classes. The instructor was very straight to the point and also made sure that I fully understood everything. Within the 1st lesson, I learned things I was never taught prior which was amazing. Needless to say, I passed my road test today.

Both myself and my wife have had a great experience with this school. I highly suggest going on the road with Victor; he is the best instructor both in tactics and temperament.

The package is costly but am overall good deal for Manhattan....I want to make special mention and thank Jose, who is an instructor there. He is an amazing instructor, very calm, knowledgeable about driving, gave very great advice and tips. Too many red flags

I went today to the Manhattan school ready to register, first a bunch of people taking class behind the front desk, I would say more than expected for that space. Second I have been told if I pay with credit card then is an addional 8%. I went to the ATM to get cash. I went back then I just asked if they clean the cars I wanted to make sure if they dont clean then i need to wear gloves and take addional precautions. So the front desk man told me that they dont clean if I am expecting clean cars he cant help and just left and sitdown in the sofa. It was weird situation I took my money and left.

Stay away from this place!rude staff, old broken cars! The receptionist guy refused to book me a class because i asked him to book a not broken car as the car i had driven in previous class didn’t seem safe to ride!! Worst experience ever!!

Great school. Jose was my driving instructor and he’s great. Some people don’t realize that it requires patience for someone to feel comfortable to drive and he never yelled or said anything bad. He was patient with me and I ended up passing my road test because of him. Thank you!

I am extremely satisfied with the service received from Akademia Driving school. Today I passed my driving test on the first try. Thanks to Victor and Jose who thoroughly educated me on everything I needed to know in preparation for the test, and to be a safe driver. I am grateful for their patience with me.

I never drove before and passed my test thanks to the classes I took at Akademia. Jose, Jerry and Jeremy are the best instructors ever ..They teach you exactly was on the test which helped me feel confident. They are patient, kind and understanding. What’s the point of having online booking if the slot you reserve is “not available”, the portal should be updated instead of showing inaccurate time slots. They should at least call to offer me another time. I tried to book a class twice and both times an email was sent saying they actually didn’t have that time.

The instructors at Akademia are very professional and have many years of experience driving. With my experience, they were very patient with me and gave me useful tips to learn how to drive safely and most of all pass the road test. After 5 wonderful classes with both Jose and Chris, I was able to pass the road exam and successful obtain my drivers license. I want to thank Jose & Chris at Akademia for all the help and I would most definitely recommend this driving school to anyone looking to learn how to drive!

Awful school, and very overpriced. The cars are old and very poorly maintained. The brakes on car we used for the road test stopped working (out of brake fluid, apparently....) The instructors are also not great, the lessons are short and rushed, and you likely wont be practicing in conditions similar to the road test.

The school was great. Instructors were professional and on point. Lessons started punctually and were very reasonably priced. If you are a beginner or have very little driving experience I strongly recommend taking extra lessons. Extremely positive experience! And now I have my drivers license for summer trips! So happy!

One of the instructors named Jose, taught me everything I needed to know to pass my road test. He was helpful, patient and charismatic. He made the driving classes worth my time. Great school!

I had a great experience with Akademia driving school in Harlem. Everyone was more than profesional they were super helpful. I failed my first road test and when I went back to get more lessons. Jose made sure we practice were I needed help the most. And the next road test I pass with no issues. They were all great and are there to truly make your learning experience less stressful. I had a great experience. Lessens were very easy and right to the point. Therefore, I passed my road test. I started with the intermediate lessens then later I added 2 more just because I was not ready for the road test. The guys are very patience and very helpful. Feel free to ask them any questions and advices. I was not doing well parking and I request them to focus a little more on that and they were glad to do so. That’s the reason why I added 2 lessen at the end. I am very glad I choose this school and I highly recommended to anyone. This is a great driving school. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in quality service at a great price. I dont agree with any of the negative reviews. All the instructors are good at what they do and make you feel very comfortable during your lessons. The manager is also very nice.

Needed to get my license finally and I shopped around for a bit. But a lot of other schools prices were pretty steep. Then I found Akademia Driving School. There prices were great. I got package number 5, which included 5 45 minute lessons, the 5-hour class, the road test appointment set-up and being able to use the schools car for the road test. The amount of lessons was perfect for me in my opinion. But all of there packages are pretty low-cost. I had two instructors. For the first three lessons was Raymond, which was awesome, very nice and PATIENT! And then I had Julio for my remaining two lessons. He was also very patient, gave great advice and always made me feel comfortable and made me believe I would pass this road test. The instructors are in general awesome. The only little negative thing I would say was the car for the road test wasnt all that. I had been driving the same car every lesson and thought this would stump me but behold I PASSED my first try and I was soooooo ecstatic! Great school, recommended it to my friends. Thanks Akademia!

I was looking around for not just a good driving school, but for a great driving school, and I found that in Akademia Driving School. Because of the way the business looks, the customer service provided, and the driving classes,I could dare to say that Akademia Driving School might be the best choice for learning how to drive. I just passed my driving test with just two classes at Akademia Driving School; the instructors helped me understand how to drive in a clear and simple way. Akademia driving school is truly a hidden gem in NYC. When I was looking for a driving school my two main concerns were the Package deals and the amount of success the driving school had experienced. I was truly delighted to find the Akademia driving school. Package deals were great and I was very lucky to find a such a wonderful driving school instructor named Adolfo Burgos. I have never touched a car before and now I am a licensed driver. Adolfo lets you feel confident, teaches you great techniques and definitely does it with patience. During the lessons I was able to feed off of his calm demeanor and positive words of encouragement. He is definitely a great instructor and I would like to truly thank him for a great learning experience. I definitely recommend the Akademia driving school along with their great staff!!!!

My experience with the school overall was a great one. I needed my road test scheduled quickly and they were able to do that for me. Also, my instructor Julio was an excellent teacher. He made me feel comfortable and actually cared if I passed or failed. The one downside was, to reschedule a lesson I had to go in person, they would not reschedule over the phone, a bit of an inconvenience for me but then again all worth it because I did pass my test.

Mainly the idiot that sits on the desk. Very rude and disrespectful. He gives me a road test for 11:45 am and calls me at the last minute to tell me its at 8:45 am. Before even being enrolled into the school I had never never been actually behind the wheel in a car, But the helpful and supportive instructors helped me surpass that minor setback, and understand how to drive properly. Each instructors was different even though they were primarily teaching the same thing. Not all of them were entirely strict, but there feedback and advice were extremely helpful because I had no car to practice with outside of the school. Overall the instructors very supportive and made their lessons very clear and easy to understand I rarely had any questions to ask because they had made it so clear to me what I was and was not suppose to do. With their help I was able to pass my road test on my first try, I am extremely grateful for their help and hope that anyone else who attends this school has an amazing experience like I did.

I was a beginner driver and I started taking lessons in oct of 2019 with Eric & Jose and I passed my road test Dec of 2019 , they were so helpful & patient and informative , I felt comfortable enough to schedule my road test after a few lessons because I knew they’d make sure I passed on my first try and I did because of them so Thank you!!!.

It was incredible as a first time driver the instructors were super cool and explained everything the way I could understand and let me try it over and over until I got it down. They were very patient and understand I took a couple of classes the week of the exam we also did a few practice exams and I passed on my first try. They know how to pass the exam and would highly recommend taking a few classes with them.

This is the best driving school to go to!! For anyone looking for a driving school that offers amazing lessons this is the school you want to look into. Dont be alarmed about the neighborhood, the area is very friendly, very calm and this school offers one of the best services in Manhattan New York. I had a personal instructor whose name was Julio. On the website you can choose which package is right for you and I chose the intermediate package. This includes 5 lessons, a scheduled date for the road test and a car to use for the road test. I also was able to make my own schedule for my lessons that works best for me. Before I go into detail i want to point out, that the manager that alot of people complain about is actually a very nice guy. He is a down to earth guy and he works with you. He also makes sure you are receiving great services, he always asks how did the lesson go after you finish. So to throw it out there he is very serious to his job and very straight forward but a very nice guy. My experience was amazing at Akademia Driving School. Julio was awesome, he showed me the 5 basics steps on how to pass a road test. He showed me how to drive in traffic, parallel park, the differences of stop signs, how to stop at a stop sign, the 3.5 turn (u-turn), how to make turns correctly, check blind spots and use my mirrors. As well as how to use the automatic gear shifting and signaling before turning. I also had another instructor twice (dont remember the name sorry!) who taught me exactly like Julio did. These two instructors were amazing and have prepared me to pass my road test. I passed my road test thanks to the school and the services they offer. Also if it wasnt for my instructors I wouldnt have passed my road test. This school is perfect for anybody who is starting to learn how to drive. Any upcoming customers I recommend Akademia Driving School as your choice to take on the services. You will most certainly get above customer satisfaction in this school. I had the privilege to take lessons with all three instructors Manny, Darwin and Julio and they were all great in their unique way. Excellent Driving School they have great packages for a fair price. Also the Employees are very nice,helpful and do the most they can to help you pass the Road Test. Especially Santiago the dude is very patient and calm the guy really knows how to teach he is a big reason of why I passed my Road Test. So I would highly recommend for anyone that wants to get their License to please go to Akademia Driving School they wont regret it. I would also recommend for people to take at least one 90 minute Driving Lesson it is very helpful because thats what I did and it was extremely helpful after I failed my Road Test on my first try and then passed it on my second try with only 5 points Thank You Akademia.

I took 15 lessons, and he taught me parallel parking, a technique that never fails, helped me with left and right turns, but most importantly taught me the secure way of driving, the reflexes you should constantly have when driving, to make it the safest!But the major point I have to Thank Adolfo for is to have helped me with my fear and stress of driving, I had a tendency of Rushing! And he kept on pounding me on it: Well the D Day, I did not rush and got my driving lesson! 1st time!He also guided me on what to do with my friend when driving, list of what to do and not to do.I definitely would recommend Akademia Driving school!

I’ve been driving for more then 10 years and was doing this course to know what DMV inspectors check in the road test.1. They gave me a broken down car with no power steering and its engine light on. The instructor told me “get in, you’re driving us to the gas station so we can fix it, then class starts”. -no comment-2. The instructor was really out of touch with DMV regulations: When we got to the gas station he told me “don’t go in, the car seems fine, so cross the street and parallel park behind that car.” So as I’m checking my mirrors and shoulder checking he says : “you’re doing it wrong, the inspector expects you to put your right hand on the passengers head rest and turn your head so he knows you’re checking your blind spot.” -no comment-I paid no mind since I was wrestling with the steering wheel. When the parking was done I told him “let’s go back and change cars because I can’t practice under these conditions.” So we are driving back and we go through a school zone and the light was green but there were children on the crosswalk and this “instructor” says to me “go ahead the light is yours you have the right of way, they will just have to stop.” -no comment- At this point I’m thinking, this old man is senil and a hazard as an instructor, good thing I’m driving and I have common sense.3. We make it back to Akademia Manhattan HQ and I just want my money back because they waisted my time and they have hazardous instructors and vehicles. The instructor tells the guy behind the counter that we came back because he couldn’t teach due to broken and in need of service car. At which point I tell him “I want my money back” he pretty much ordered me to sit down and I wasn’t going to have any of that disrespectful attitude so the conversation escalated... until I got my money back.4. If you are black avoid. A white/hispanic girl had an appointment at the same time I did and she was given a new car and an instructor who looked like he was up to date with regulations. Maybe I got unlucky like when I get randomly checked at the airport, who knows?

This has to be one of the greatest Driving schools in NY. Starting with the instructors. They would go step by step to prepare you the best they can. I would recommend this to everybody. I just had to take 5 classes and now thanks to does instructors and driving school i have my license.

If youre looking for a good school look no further, I got a bundle with my five hour classes and 8 lessons with the road test and I passed on my first try. My instructor was patient and was really good at finding out what my problems were while driving and helped me to fix them. All in all I had an amazing experience. On the day of the test out of four of us only one of us failed, and they drove us to the test and back to the city it was great. Not only that but my instructor didnt make me feel uncomfortable at all in the car during the lesson we would talk casually about life, cars, sports and honestly that prepares you more for the road test because the proctors sometimes will do the same thing and it trains your ability to multi-task.

I chose Akademia for the price and proximity to my home. Chief Instructor Leoni runs the 5hr class and although he denies it, he has a funny witty streak that make the hours go by. Apparently, there supposedly more than one driving instructor although I have only met and was taught by one, Adolfo. Adolfo is a wonderful teacher. He is very patient and attentive to his students. He has a calm demeanor when he is with you in the car and takes his time to teach you. He is very in tune with you as a student and addresses you according to your mood.I honestly could not have asked for a better driving instructor or school. I was very nervous taking the driving test, but under Adolfos tutelage I aced the test.I highly recommend this school.

I am a teacher and parent with a really busy schedule. A co-worker of mine recommended Akademia to me . She passed her road test on the first try. I had went to one other school in the bronx two years ago and they couldnt compare to my lessons with academia. During my first lesson they walked me step by step with what the driving testers would be looking for. They continuously asked me if i was comfortable and treated me like a real driver. I had lessons with young professional instructors . I believe I took about 7 hrs of lessons although I have had previous lessons. The encouragement was what I really needed. I specifically needed help with wide turns, parking and NERVES. I passed my test and was pleased. Just waiting for my license in the mail. Thank you Academia.

I was referred to go here by my sister whos instructor goes by the name of Daniel. After I had arrived, I was told that the instructor was fired for reasons unknown. After that i was told that the previous instructor was fired as well. It makes no sense if these guys were working here just a few months back. My sister highly recommended this instructor as well as my good friend, yet i was given an instructor who was not fluent in english whatsoever. I recommend Ferrari driving school, more professional and the instructors actually have a certification. This place is too fishy for me

Awesome experience. With the few lessons I took, I passed the test. Great tips, especially parking. If you apply what they teach you, you will pass. They have packages for everything including highway experience, you just have to pay for it. The key to passing it is to be relax and be able to drive during every situation. The lessons were straight forward and focused on what would be on the road test. Julio was friendly and knowledgable with great tips for improving. I hadnt driven in over a month and took a single lesson with Julio just before the road test. Everything he mentioned was on the road test and I was confident enough to pass the test on my first try!Definitely come to Akademia if you want your license.

1. I asked the owner to wear a mask and he purposely coughed on me.2. Hes very unprofessional and disorganized.3. He had me take him to McDonalds and to his house during my lesson.4. I still failed my road test.

I really enjoyed my Road Experience with them. I signed up with them for 5 classes which included 5 road classes my 5 hour class and even the car for the road test. All in all i passed my road test and i thank this school. My instructor Julio taught me the basics of the road and was very Professional. Patrick and everybody there is great. I passed my first time which says alot about the school. Its legit the cheapest and best in New York

Took two 45 min lessons with Juilo and it was great. The guy is an amazing driving teacher and he taught me how to park in less than 2 minutes. He made me feel calm when driving and went over every aspect of the road test with me. I take the test tomorrow and feel comfortable because of him. I highly recommend this driving school, but make sure to ask for Julio

Akademia Driving School has been phenomenal in assisting me with obtaining my drivers license. I have tried other school but the instructors Julio and Adolfo were great. I got my NYS license today in first attempt with the help of Akademia. I went to get the 5 hr class and did a package too. They were very efficient and timely. Driving class was very helpful as it gave me the insight of skill-full driving. They are focused and exam oriented. Whole experience was smooth and that gave the confidence.Highly Recommended!

Great school man! Manny, Julio are the best!!! They really teach you how to drive and make you an expert giving you clear directions on what to do. The guy at the front desk was very respectful to me and always referred to me as Mr.Johnson. I have no idea what these negative comments are about. But Great school!

Amazing driving school! I signed up for a beginner package (10 lessons, 5-hour class and driving test included - they drive you to the test and back to the school) at a very affordable price. I improved very fast thanks to my two instructors, Julio and Adolfo, who were both very helpful as they provide students with advice suited to their needs. Not only do they keep their poise at all times, but they are also very friendly, which helps gaining confidence behind the wheel. I was well prepared for each part of the test (turns, parallel parking, awareness, etc.) and passed the first time, which I entirely owe to them. They also made the 5-hour pre-licensing course rather painless, as they make it a participative and dynamic class. Since Im European, I also took stick shift lessons and was able to drive very well after only 2 lessons. Finally, theyre very affordable and conveniently located in a neighborhood where it is much easier to drive, especially compared to the wilderness of downtown Manhattan. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone whos looking for cheap yet effective driving lessons, and who wants to have a good time driving in the city.

I filled out the form as instructed on line and emailed it. I waited for someone to call me as soon as email is received as per the bottom of the form.I got this reply to my email: CALL FOR DETAILS.I called and got voice mail hell. I pressed a few buttons and waited to be transferred. Finally got some guy and explained that I already emailed my form but no one has called me. His brusque answer:Thats because we dont do that anymore. You gotta come in and register. Then he HUNG UP ON ME!Clearly we will be choosing another company. What an ass!

Just finished passing my road test after having 10 lessons for 45mins. Thanks to the help of one of my favorite instructors, Darwin. However, there were 3 other that I did not like so much. Overall I enjoyed the time I got to drive with Darwin. If you do go, request him. :D oh, and also Julio.

Its one of the best driving schools I have encountered. The staff is very attentive. Their professionalism is outstanding. Best customer service I have experienced in a long time.

Akademia Driving School is at the top of the class, the best in New York City, and quite possibly the absolute best in the country. The staff is friendly and genuinely want you to pass, unlike other driving schools, which I wont mention. The instructors are thoughtful, attentive, and go above and beyond the call of duty--they are just excellent. I learned how to drive, got my drivers license and I owe it all to Akademia. A++ instructors.

These guys are great! The packages are super affordable, the instructors are really nice & helpful, and theyre fairly flexible with the schedule. I was nervous about the road test, especially parallel parking, but they talked me through the nerves and they taught me a great parking trick.Thanks to these guys I passed the road test!

I been looking for a good bundle price for lessons and rental of car and i saw the good reviews so i said hey let me try it out although it was far from my home. I took 8 lessons and passed my road test two days ago and it was my first try! the school is very patient and also friendly. This school was worth every penny! Thanks!

Stay away from this driving school. The driving test - announced within 3 weeks - is not refundable even if you are not able to make it on the specific date they choose(they do not want to change the driver & car but will refund the state test, paradoxically). The manager has no common sense, he is rude with his clients and just want to make easy money. Take it or leave it.

Darwin and Manny are definitely good drivers whos tips helped me pass on my 4th attempt. They are super friendly and very talkative. Its a good environment for those who want to pass. They will always be positive and never put you down based on your driving skills.
