Quality over Quantity! Sayed (hopefully I spelt his name correctly) was an amazing instructor. His 2 classes was better than the 5 classes I took at another driving school. Very organized and all the people who work here are really chill people who can make the experience less nerve racking. They also are fluent in Spanish for those who speak it. Sayed goes in-depth for each and every aspect of driving, and explains what you are doing wrong and how to correct it. He also made me write down certain steps so I can study it for future reference and it really helped understand how the things work. Unfortunately I failed due to me being nervous, but if I hadn’t made a certain mistake I would’ve definitely passed it. However if you are looking for a driving school, this one is definitely it, amazing instructors. I’ll be returning when I need to rent a car for my next test.

I was hugely misled by other reviews on Google map so I decided to leave my review here for others.1. This “driving school” is basically a one-man business, and the only qualified instructor is Luis, as mentioned in other posts. Other instructors he trained even mistook “pull over” for “pull out”.2. The price of this “school” is 30-50% higher than other schools, but yes, it’s in midtown Manhattan and the lessons were taking place in the busiest areas around Penn station. I made my trade off trying to make the commute to driving school easier but practicing on Manhattan is a headache for new learners. You can make your own tradeoffs here. Luis also give inconsistent prices to customers - of course, favorable prices to his “favorites” and I found out cuz he gave me two different prices for the test day packet, and even the lower one is significantly more expensive than any other service you can find online.3. Scheduling. THE BIGGEST ISSUE. For those who commented on “flexible scheduling”, they also indulged the behaviors of frequent cancellations and rescheduling within even 2hrs by Luis. This is ridiculous. There’s no respect for people’s time in this company and when you confronted he and tried to hold him accountable for his commitment to give lessons at agreed time, he’d get defensive and would rather give you refund, which happened to me.4. Driving Lessons. I reviewed lots of materials / videos online. Luis doesn’t give the best instructions for turning or controlling steering wheel. If you’re the first time learner, you’d better find someone else. Plus, the car is super old. It would be so much easier to drive a newer car for learning and road test.In all, if you choose Luis, you need to put up with his disrespect of your time, let him pick favorites among his students, pay higher prices and get worse lessons / car.

If you want to pass the road test, this is the right school. Louis is the best instructor. He will tell you very honestly what are the areas you have to work on, and will give you a lot of confidence when you improve. He has a method for you to learn, and you can’t forget his tips. There should be no low reviews. At all.This is probably the best driving instructor money can buy.I read the bad reviews and theyre all idiots. I got set up with the school IN THE COVID ERA. If you cant conduct business with them then youre slow.Like I said. I owe my license to Louis. Thats the driving instructor for the folks at home lol.

I was recommended to Louis by a total stranger as I was hunting all of NY’s driving schools. I spoke to many many but some how all was putting me off, saying there were no availability for my pre licensing course nor the road test until late September. I hesitantly called Louis. “A MIRACLE HAPPENED” I only had a total full 2 lessons from Luis and I passed my road test.I never drove in my country and 1st road test was disaster after having crazy sketchy teachers from other schools. I met Luis day before the road test and he taught me everything totally different skills that I didn’t learn from other school. I perfectly parked every time after Luis taught me. I couldn’t pass 1st road test. Yes. It was only 1 hour lesson with him. But 2nd time also 2days before the road test I practiced with him. I was so slow driver, scared U turn, get nerves easily, forget signal, forget blind spot and too much steeling control. Anyway!!!! if I remember correct i did 20 times-30 times U turn lesson in 1 hour 15min lesson with him and it was AWESOME. It made me confident and real skills that I needed to learn. He is AWESOME. He truly will give you REAL LESSONS and you will pass a road test with him for sure. I RECOMMEND EVERYONE go to lessons with LUIS. I have to move other state in next week and I needed a license so bad. So IM SO SO appreciated Luis and his lessons so much. He is truly hard worker real deal teacher. I also passed test -5 it was almost perfect. I just didn’t keep left line after I turn left cause the road test finishing was pull over right side ... but anyway I’m So confident to drive now. The PRE-INSPECTION is a very important part of the test. If you dont pass THAT you cannot move on to the ROAD TEST! Also, the office staff is fantastic! Always works with you and always send you reminders so you never miss a lesson or test!Once you have your CDL you will always have a job!

I was refered to Luis as the drivingschool where I had taken my pre-licensing course did not offer the Road test due to Covid. I called Luis and he booked a Road test for me two days later and I passed. I only had 1 lesson prior to the test as I know how to drive and have a Danish drivers license, still Luis was good at explaining and emphasising the must-do’s and must-not’s when taking the test. He is thorough and cares about his students. I can highly recommend this guy!

I felt silly the first time I went to their offices because they have a main entrance and a freight entrance and I thought the freight entrance was the main entrance. Thought it looked shady until I found the right entrance and they were very pleasant to my surprise. They gave me a great deal and even threw in a few extra classes for free. The instructor was very patient and professional, which was very much appreciated because this was the first time I ever drove a car. After the lessons I watched the 5 Hr pre-licensing course and finally took my road-test. I was so nervous but my instructor kept me calm and repeated everything I needed to know with a mock road-test that helped a lot. To my astonishment I passed the test in my first try. This school really helped me a lot not only with my driving skill but with my confidence behind the wheel. Anytime anyone asks me about where to get their license from this is the place I always send them. Im adding the google maps picture of the main entrance so no one has to have to spend time at the freight elevator lol.

A friend of mines highly recommended me this school so I gave them a try. Best decision I could have ever made!!! I have never parked a car before and everybody kept telling me how hard parallel parking was. I can now parallel in 4 maneuvers or less. Any one asks me their instructors got great teaching skill. I started there in January. Did my 5 hours driving certificate and then began driving with Velez. Velez is patient but tough. If you want to learn to drive and pass the NY driving test, driving with Velez is totally the way to go. I drove with another school for 1 yr and could not pass. The tips given by Velez for good safe driving are awesome. Helps to build confidence. I would recommend driving with Velez to anyone who truly wants to be a good driver.

I needed to get my CDL asap because of work. I dont know how this school did it but they helped with getting my permit within a week, which is extremely fast because there are 3 exams minimum you have to pass to get the permit. The General Knowledge test, the Air Brakes test and Combinations test for me since I needed the tractor trailer license. If your just doing bus and truck you just do the first two tests. They made it look so easy by breaking down every question and answer for me. Then they scheduled me a Speedy Road Test that was within two weeks which is super fast because when i tried myself to make the appointment i got a month to a month and a half away dates. Really extraordinary how well they work.

Barnes driving school helped me get my bus license and I was able to get a job right away. I was unemployed for so long I forgot how good it was to be the bread winner again. My experience with them was positive and am thinking of going back for my tractor trailers license.

Very Good and Patient Customer Service. I had a lot of questions and they were able to answer all of them. I never drove here in NY and needed to get my license to drive my kids to school and Im very happy I chose this school. When my kids are old enough I know exactly what driving school they are going to. They have been open for 30 yrs and the way they work Im sure they will be open way after my kids can get their license from them.

I have been reading the 1 star reviews on this school and I can tell you they have never even came to this school. I had a very nice experience from start to end. They set me an appointment and I was able to register and start my lesson the very next day. Passed my road test on the very first time and I asked around and people tell me thats not easy to do. I just tell them I just got lucky with my driving instructor. Dont think twice about this driving school they are super professional and very nice at that too. DONT FALL FOR THEIR SCAM!!!!! I Came here to do a 5 hours course that is mandatory in NY state after i called and scheduled me for 3 PM. I left work early and arrived to their office. The lady i spoke on the phone with is not in this office. the lady at the office spoke very little English but enough for me to understand that i was tricked and there is no course at this day. I was sent to 2 different locations (one of them was a restaurant) and the whole experience felt very sketchy. after i realized that there is no course, she aggressively tried to sign me up for driving lessons or schedule the road test for me.SAVE YOUR TIME AND GO SOME PLACE ELSE!!!! they also chrage $15 more then ALL the other driving schools around.

I was only 17 but they still got me my DJ License. That was my juniors drivers license but as soon as I turned 18 the actual full blown license came in the mail. I was siked. The cars they trained me in had two brakes one for me and one for the instructor and same with da rear view mirrors. It was very dope. My instructor was a female....shout out to maria. In truth, they know how to teach very well. I have to work from Monday to Friday and they accommodated me to take all my driving lessons on weekends. How easy they made me to learn parking. I really enjoyed learning to drive with them because they have instructors who are bilingual. They can teach you how to drive in Spanish and at the same time you can learn what you need to know in English so you can understand what the inspectors ask for on the day of the driving test. They helped me learn everything with a management package and now I manage all day with my license.

Take out the regular license with them first and then the camouflage license. They even helped me get a job and now Im earning a good ticket and my whole family is very happy with me.
