Great instructor, took 1 class (I’ve had some previous driving experience in other country) however he was able to explain to me everything you need to know to pass the exam step by step. It is worth it. 😊

I want to preface by sharing the following: I had zero experience driving before arriving to Golden Key, no knowledge how to adjust the side view mirrors, and how to turn a car on, but I was determined to pass my road test. I purchased the 10 lesson package because I wanted to give myself ample time and practice.Firstly, reserving lessons is tricky. After I got my permit, the only available days were two months ahead. I wasnt in a rush, so I didnt have a problem with this, but its not convenient for some.Yisreal is patient and explains exactly what to expect during the road test. He will be very encouraging and express only positivity. When asking for his opinion on whether he believes youre ready for the road test, he asks you to feel it out yourself. At some point after the 5th lesson I felt my progress and was feeling more and more ready.I do feel there are some organizational challenges from the secretarys end but its not extensive or negatively impacted my experience at all. I really did have GREAT, POSITIVE experiences at Golden Key.I am so excited that I was readily prepared for the road test and passed on my first try.

I am so pleased to have taken my driving lessons with Golden Key Driving School! Yisrael, the instructor was very professional and patient! He literally explained everything step by step and made me feel very comfortable and confident with my driving! We continuously practiced parking, 3 point turns, and left and right turns until I finally got it right! I was very nervous taking the test but with such great practice I passed! I definitely recommend taking your driving classes at Golden Key!

Golden key driving school is the most unprofessional business I have ever encountered. The owner is very disrespectful to not only me but many other costumers that were also there to receive a driving lesson. After being disrespected by the owner over asking her for a simple request, she denies my right to receive a refund on a driving lesson my daughter never even got to be a part of. I highly recommend anyone looking for a driving school to look somewhere else, this is one of the worst experiences I had when giving my business to a company.

Yisrael is good at what he does. Instructions are very clear, corrections are made in the moment, and he makes sure your basics are solid. As of April 2021, communication with the office has been great and I have not had any problems with appointment cancelations. I passed my test on the first try after 5 lessons with some previous driving experience. Overall, great value, great teaching, and very calm vibe. Ive had a good experience with this driving school.

I failed the exam my first time around and after 23 lessons with this school this sort of thing may happen and keep in mind you might get dealt a bad hand that day of your road test even though the examiners are not all out to fail you because you might just get an asshole examiner like I did trust me and their New York examiners and we all know that New Yorkers are unpredictable arrogant and never fucking happy and that examiner you may get may be having a bad morning start that particular day my cousin told me that he hit the curb on a road test and still past his exam a few years back and he blew a stop sign that’s a automatic fail what’s going on with that my younger brother failed his exam the first time and when he decided to give it another shot he took the second test he cut off two pedestrians at the crosswalk and drove in the middle of a two way road and the examiner who was over seeing his test told him your lucky I’m in a good mood and passed him and my examiner didn’t even say good morning back in return when I said good morning in the car that morning and right then and there I knew it was gonna be a bad start lol 😂 and it goes to show you it’s the New Yorker bullshit and the unfairness that surrounds this piece of shit city and if your a dmv road test examiner and your bored with your job maybe you should find something that makes you happy and don’t bring that miserable shit to work on road test day leave your fucked up energy at home but don’t get discouraged for those Who feel a lot of anxiety and very nervous about the road test it’s possible to fail just like it’s possible to die there no positive without a negative failure has to coexist it’s natural take it all In and use it as fuel failure is a possibility but the main thing is you keep trying don’t quit if it happens and you’ll get a break Each failure is one step closer to success if you stay motivated learn from it and improve on What needs improvement But at the same time stay positive and optimistic it happens to the best of us i would also recommend if you do fail shop around and do your research dont spend your money to reschedule with the same school theres other schools with much better and comfortable test sites dont feel intimidated by changing instructors be open minded to meet new teachers broaden your driving learning experience widen the feedback with a different school different scenery different car different location get familiar with different situations in different parts of nyc rather than taking the same lessons in the same area your not really doing anything challenging learning to drive in one location get the full benefit of your trying to learn to drive . invest in yourself buy more lessons I would say because if you really look at it these schools dont really teach you to drive they teach you how to past the test and whether you past or not its not there problem who cares they got paid and they leave out a lot of details so dont put all your eggs in one basket spread your money around its your job to do more gain more knowledge and seek out more learning but dont spend a lot of money on lessons like I did with one school I bought 23 which was a mistake 23 lessons is good but only good if its spread out between different schools trust me every school has a uniqueness about itself and they all leave out details collect and absorb every thing you learn from each school life is built off variety explore your options be a open book good luck

I was procrastinating getting my license for years. I was too nervous. I was riding around my cousin who was a new driver and I loved how she drived. This service the worst service I’ve ever worked with super unorganized, taught how to drive the wrong way causing many possible accidents, mix and mess up your road test dates, and set you up to a bad instructor on purpose. This school really sucks and I wouldn’t recommend this service.

After putting it off for so so long, I finally decided to sign up for driving lessons and go for my drivers license. After hearing amazing things about Golden Key Driving School from personal experiences, I signed up for lessons with them, and I am glad I made that decision. Yisrael is an amazing instructor, and he thoroughly prepares you for your road test. He was very patient and calmed any nerves I had about driving. Due to the pandemic, my lessons were put on hold, but once they resumed, I was able to continue my lessons and I passed my road test the 1st time around. I originally took the road test about two years ago after having taken classes with Uptown Driving School, located just a few blocks uptown of Golden Key Driving School. I paid money for a package full of classes consisting of the instructor sitting with his face facing down to his phone. He often said its fine, youll pass the test, even though I knew I wasnt confident in my driving skills. I failed the test.Fast forward to 2020, I sign up for classes with Golden Key Driving School. First thing is first, it was extremely easy to buy a package through their website and schedule classes over the phone. The people who helped me over the phone were friendly and always ready to provide assistance. I bought a five class package that always went as follows: Careful guidance from Yisrael, constructive criticism, and repetitive practice that enabled me to be a better driver. As someone who was completely afraid to turn left/right, I am highly confident in turning at any corner in a manner that is conscious of my own vehicle and those around me. Yisrael not only guided me with instruction, but also ensured to create an environment that was welcoming and calm. Driving with Yisrael was like driving with a friend.Today I took my exam and passed with only a 10 point deduction. I felt incredibly confident and in performing everything that Yisrael taught me, I drove efficiently. Thank you Yisrael for your patience and thank you to the team at the office helping with clerical duties.

The instructor, Yisrael, is very knowledgeable and has such a calming presence which is v important when you’re learning how to drive and maneuver a car! Rosie was the one who took me to my road exam and I passed! They go the extra mile; right before the test she kept giving us tips and reminders. So helpful, I 100% recommend this place.

Ive taken 2 driving classes at Akademia Driving School and 1 driving class with Yisrael at Golden Key (mainly because of my own poor planning) I can honestly say I wish I had done all my classes with Yisrael. At Akademia I had different instructor for each class and they each taught me differently, which really made it confusing for me. Yisrael was professional and patient. He gave me clear and consistent instructions step by step and had me practice until I got it right . Hannah drove me to my road test and she was helpful and encouraging. I think I would have failed the road test if I didnt take the lesson with Yisrael, and I would have scored higher if I had taken all 3 classes with him.

The driving school was very informative, and I felt comfortable from day one when I walked pass just to ask a question. The packages were all affordable. The driving instructor was also friendly and knowledgeable of what is expected at the toad test. The offered pick up and drop off, which made it easier for me to do my lessons back to back before my road test. The video that they have on YouTube is A++++. When i did my test all i can remember was everything Yisrael had taught me. Hes honestly an amazing teacher and this school prepares you better than any other out there. This is hands down the BEST DRIVING SCHOOL IN NYC, with the BEST INSTRUCTOR. You will not regret it!The Instructor Israel is amazing. He says hes the best instructor in NY and man, he was not kidding. He is patient, personable, and effective in his teaching methods. Parallel parking was always my weak point and Israel helped me turn it into my favorite part of driving. Its easy once you get the method down.I came to Golden Key from another driving school that was basically a scam. I was skeptical at first obviously, so I signed up for one lesson to see if I would like it. That first lesson was all I needed to be convinced. I actually felt ready to take the test then, because Israel touched on a bit of every aspect of driving. Im so lucky to have found Golden Key Driving School just by chance - I trusted all the great reviews online and here I am writing another one.I had never driven before, and Israel (the instructor) made it a relaxing and great experience from the very beginning. He is incredibly patient and a great teacher with tons of experience. Many of my friends have spent lots of money on driving lessons through other schools only to fail repeatedly. Golden Key is more reasonably priced and much, much more effective than many other schools.I passed my road test without a problem on my first try (and so do the vast majority of those who learn to drive with Israel).Also, its worth noting that the neighborhood youll learn to drive in with Israel is very similar to the neighborhood of the testing site, so youll be well prepared for the road test (and for driving in general, which Ive already began doing).I highly recommend Golden Key to anyone, regardless of experience (again, I had no experience coming in). Youll learn to be a confident and safe driver without a doubt.

I have been to two others schools previously, and when it was time to take the test... i failed almost on the spot. Israel has one of the best qualities an instructor should have... PATIENCE. If you follow his techniques, you will definitely pass. Hence i was never taught those before (ex. Mirror to yellow line, the 3 rs). He also builds you with confidence and as much as you may mess up, he doesnt treat you like a fool. I recommend this driving school to anyone who seriously wants to pass and not just give their money away to driving schools that expect you to fail so then you have to come back to them and pay another package. Israel has a heart of gold!!! I give this 5 plus stars if i could.

I was excited about taking driving classes at Golden Key, after reading all the fantastic reviews had to try it out for myself. I started my lessons last week Monday with Israel which made driving a breeze, his excellent customer service and personality makes one feel comfortable behind the wheel. Rosie was very helpful providing a breakdown of what to look out for during the actual exam. Best experience ever grade A, highly recommended to everyone. I had a great experience with Golden Key Driving School. Rosie and Israel were very professional and helpful. They both cared that I got adequately prepared for my driving test and I very much appreciated that. Israel was wonderful and gave very clear instructions during our driving lessons. I felt prepared especially in terms of those aspects of driving that were tested on the actual driving test (left/ right turns, parallel parking and three point turns). Rosie was a pleasure to deal with on the business side. Overall, very positive experience.

Great staff and easy learning

Israel is the best instructor in NYC! I have gone to many driving schools and never was I treated as good as in this school. He made me feel relaxed. I only took one class with them and the next day I had to take the road test and guess what? I passed it. Another thing I liked was the fact that Israel wanted to make sure I got the parallel parking and 3-point turn right, so he made me practice those at least 6 times!!On the day of the road test, Rosy was the one who drove me to the test site and gave me valuable tips on how to relax and what to do when the nerves roll in. She taught me that no matter what the outcome was, the test was not a life altering point in my life and if I failed it, it was not the end of the world. So, I took her advice to heart and passed the test!!!!!!!!!!!!!If you wanna have better chances at passing the test, call this driving school. And no, theyre not paying me to say these nice things, those things came from the heart.

I took two lessons. He said i would only need one lesson that it will be easy. I know how to drive but as a companion and guide it got really repetitive and he skipped most of the lesson like the car controls and the car was not in good repaired condition. Now Im upset because I have the exam coming up and his cars are not totally safe. Dont trust these people. Im going to get my money back. Trying to get in contact with them sometimes they dont answer the telephone or they dont have a reception.

I was very anxious and super scared to drive at first. Golden key was extremely helpful in making me confident in being able to drive and teaching me how to drive safely without second guessing myself. I took 5 lessons and was a bit anxious on the day of my readiest. Golden key had been very supportive from the secretary to the instructors advising me that I would get my license and was ready. I took my road test and passed remembering all the tips i was given during my lessons.I would definitely recommend them for learning to drive as well as even polishing up on any driving skills prior to seeing them. They make you feel comfortable and confident in the drivers seat.

Im still taking my lessons at the moment but so far I can say that I ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT venture off elsewhere for lessons. Golden Key Driving School is the only driving school Ive been too but I can say it is the best place for a non experienced driver to go to.The instructor Isreal is Awesome. He makes you feel very comfortable behind the wheel which is very important!! He also talks to you and plays music just to help you relax while your driving. He teaches you everything you need to know as far as passing the road test but also he teaches you techniques for driving period. Whenever you make a mistake he doesnt make a big deal about it because there is always room for improvement. I was skeptical at first, with all the positive reviews. However, each and every one of them is right! I was extremely nervous and Israel made me feel at ease, as if we were just 2 buddies driving around. I took the 10-lesson package, and just passed the road test 3 weeks ago, on my first try (having never driven a car prior to my lessons)! He’s thorough, gives you great tips and prepares you for the test. And Parallel parking was a breeze. I recommend the school hands down.

Ive been procrastinating on getting my license for a long time, I even let my permit expire twice!. Finally, I made the decision I need to stop BS-ing. I live in the city and I dont need a car but I wanted the skill for long distance trips. Any who, Yisrael was great! He was patience and informative. He made sure to teach me what would be expected of me on the day of my road test. Yisrael presence was calming; he didnt yell if I did something wrong. Simply would point it out and let me drive until I got it right. Fast forward, I was nervous the day of my test, however I appreciate the mini refresher Rosanna gave us while we waited for our turn. Family operated business where they make you part of the family and teach you how to drive well and pass the test. The office is a bit hard to find, but thats not what you are there for anyways. They have nice cars from VW and really good instructors. Highly recommended

Golden Key Driving School helped my teenage son get his license in the unbelievably hot August of 2017 (2018?) (hard to remember now) and they were terrific! We are based in Manhattan and my son had previously practiced with a school in Manhattan which tests in Yonkers and didn’t pass. I looked outside Manhattan for a better driving experience and found the FANTASTIC owner and teacher Israel at Golden Key in the Inwood section of the Bronx. I am so glad I did. I am convinced that not only do they use a testing site with a better pass percentage, their driving instructors, esp Israel (!) are professional and also personally passionate about helping their students. Their cars were surprisingly CLEAN and NEW and I was impressed.This is a mom and pop shop and is indeed run out of the back office of an Inwood hair salon... booking can require patience... office assistants are not always the best... but the cars are great and right out front so have patience. Israel and his lovely wife Rifka also recommend that they take the student to the test (for an additional fee) and I concur. I truly believe you might get a better test experience when you go with people the testers know.

Youll practice the parallel parking and the 3-point turn many many times until Israel feels youre confident and good about it.Rosie is always there to answer questions, and to make the schedule convenient for you. Shes the one driving to the test site, and there, she reviews one last time all the important points. She also does a great job to relax the stressed students :)The car is modern, very easy to drive so you can concentrate on the road environment.Im sure their passing rate is awesome, because they really care about the students and therefore make sure theyre ready for the road test.I will definitely recommend them to my friends !!

Golden Key Driving was an indispensable part of getting my license. Yisrael, Rosy and the rest of the staff were cordial, professional and informative. I started off as a complete beginner, unsure of my ability to pass the driving test; Yisrael quickly dispelled any doubts I had. His tips were concise, easily remembered and easily executed. Under his relaxed but precise tuition, I passed my exam with flying colors on the first attempt.My heartfelt respect and gratitude go out to Golden Key. I was recommended to Golden Key by a friend who had just recently gotten her license thanks to them. After having a bad experience with lessons at another school years ago (no longer open), I was very hesitant about driving again but Golden Key was just what I needed. Israel is the best teacher hands down and really helped me get over my anxiety. I didnt know what to expect on the road test having never taken it before but after 4 lessons with them I feel confident driving and prepared for the test, and I passed. If I could give them zero stars I would. Completely unprofessional office staff. Do not return calls, send text at 10:30 PM at night to cancel a class on top of the fact that it took months to be able to schedule an appointment.

This place is great. The people who work here treat everyone like family. Tommy is a great istructure and they all have a lot of patience for first time drivers.

I really recommend this driving school. The instructor, Yisrael is very cool, laid back and patient. He gives you tips that the DMV rep will be looking for when you are taking the test. His packages are very affordable. I bought package #4 which was 5 class (45mins), 5 hour class, and for him to take you to the road test. I took the road test and I passed (YAY!). The location was Havermeyer in the Bronx. I would definitely recommend my family and friends to this driving school.

Great Driving School. Everything very clear from the beginning. The Instructer( Yisrael ) was very chill and clear about the things that will be looked at, the day of the road test. The only reason why I am giving this store is because the how great the driving instructor was.The annoying part was the fact that we had to sit for 3 hours to get our certificate. We saw a few videos that lead to the same thing. The importance of driving safe. The only difference was each was a bit more detailed. I personally felt that the first two was enough. Very informative and clear.That being said. I highly recommend this school to get your driving license.A++

Yisrael and Rosie are an awesome team! You will not only become a great driver with Israels instruction, youll also be perfectly prepared for the road test! I already had a European license but without two very thorough and precise lessons, I would have no doubt failed as the examiners are looking for a very specific way of driving on the test. I cant thank Israel and Rosie enough, a great experience and Ill be recommending them to anyone on the upper west side/uptown Manhattan and more! (Updated in 2018 to finally spell Yisraels name correctly!).

I highly recommend Golden Key driving school to anybody who is trying to get their license!At first i went to Akademia Driving School but the people that worked there were SO RUDE.So i went to Golden Key instead and im so happy i did! Israel really helps you to feel confident and comfortable behind the wheel. They even do pick-ups, which was great! On the day of the exam Rosy made me feel as relaxed as possible and gave me the final pointers to nail it AND I DID!Today i passed my test on my first try! So happy! Thank you Golden Key for everything!

I got my license today and honestly I couldn’t have picked a better driving school or instructor. Amazing!

I purchased 10 classes with the 5-hr pre-licensing course and option to use the school’s vehicle on the day of my exam. I took 9 out of 10 classes and passed my road test on my first try. Yisrael was a great instructor. He knows how to correct your mistakes without micromanaging you or crushing your confidence. He was patient, professional, and also very interesting to chat with while practicing driving! (Great for learning to concentrate on the road while also having a conversation in the car, which is bound to happen sooner or later.) I really appreciated the memorization strategies and visual cues for parking, K-turns, and left turns that Yisrael provides. I also had the pleasure of taking one class with their female instructor (I forget her name) and thought she was great too because she covered topics that Yisrael didn’t, like how to parallel park behind a truck or motorcycle, as well as other strategies to remember what to do in certain situations. On the day of the exam, Rosie was the one to drive me along with 2 other students, and gave us a brief tour of the neighborhood near the testing area, reminding us to pay attention to the information on the road, pointing out stop signs, reviewing the difference between the two types of stop signs, and reminding us how to approach those tricky 4-way intersections during left turns. Rosie basically summarized in 5 minutes everything Yisrael teaches you on a class-to-class basis.In terms of the quality of instruction and preparing me to pass my test I think Golden Key deserves 5/5 stars... The only reason I chose to give this school 4 out of 5 stars is because I think their business administration needs improvement. I sometimes had difficulty with scheduling and rescheduling classes and the exam (e.g., weekend availability was limited even when calling 6 days in advance to schedule a class; sometimes I would call to schedule and leave a message and not get a call back, so I had to call again later; other times when I wanted to schedule a double class Rosie would tell me to call back later to see if that was possible instead of calling me back with a confirmation). Also they have a strict cancellation policy so if you cancel a class with less than 24 hrs notice, be prepared to lose your money. Apart from the minor inconvenience of scheduling and rescheduling appointments, they do pick up/drop off from nearby locations (e.g., nearby train station) which was convenient and saved me some commute time. Overall I had a great experience with Golden Key Driving and highly recommend it!

Worst experience ever this business when they mess up they cover up greatly they stole our money and didn’t provide a car for the test because they were mad that we scheduled for a test that was earlier than what they were offering they offer the farthest test date possible and the only schedule things that are better for them not for the customer. the owner is very rude and disrespectful and very culturally insensitive. They are truly overpriced to be a room in the back of another business with the outdated choppy old video. $150 for a video that they look like they made themselves in the 50s. they got my $80 the car I scheduled for the test but I will never go back to them again and I would never recommend them either. The receptionist was very pleasant and very nice but when she messes up she lies to cover herself and I have proof and documentation stating she made a mistake and they covered for each other and made sure that I did not get my money back. Trust me never go back to this place take your money elsewhere to a place that actually has a office not a room in the back of somebody’s business they spent more on the banner then they did on the room. Busted dirty overpriced closet the put folding chairs in a closet and charge $150… smh I the got me I hope they don’t get you too …. Trashy place

(real name Brian C) This Place is excellent to say the least. Ive been at this driving non sense since i was 17. At other local schools Ive failed NUMEROUS times. I took Three classes with Golden Key and I passed TODAY (04/08/13). One teacher and ONE passing grade. Highly recommend to all who are currently having trouble with there current driving schools or all driving In general.

I went to golden key driving school for an 8 package lesson, Israel was an amazing driving instructor, he play all day but was a good instructor over all. My road test appointment was April 25,2018 and I failed my road test, not because of Israel’s teaching it was because I was super nervous. I went to another school and took 2 more lessons because I knew I needed just a little more work on my turns. And I passed my road test with flying colors when I took it the second time! And the difference is that I wasn’t a bit nervous this time!!!! At the other school in Long Island none of the instructors had any faith me absolutely none at all and said I wasn’t ready to take my road test and how I was going to fail again and for me to take more lessons, I said the devil is a liar. So I went to my road test and used every single technique that I learned from golden key driving school and applied it to my road test my second time around and guess what with Israel’s teachings I passed, although I went to another school for 2 lessons I still passed with his technique. Don’t be fooled when you do go to other schools they will try and mess up with you have already learned and have you all messed up, but if you already know that you were taught by a damm good driver instructor like Israel don’t forget what you learned no matter what other school you go to!!
