Ive taken many classes at mood and really enjoy my time there! I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants to get into fashion or even just learn your way around a sewing machine. The head teacher, Ben, is a Project Runway alum (and super talented!) and does a great job facilitating class. He actually spends time with you explaining if you dont understand something, which is really cool! Makes class fun, not dull! The assistants are amazing as well! Sandro and Chinaza (who I call my angel), are both super talented in their own right, and help you throughout the class. They are just LOVELY!Its kinda cool to take classes at such a landmark in the New York fashion world. GREAT JOB!

I have been a Moods customer for over a decade, and I love their fabrics. I had wanted to take a class in pattern making ever since they began but as i live in another state it was only when the one day class started that I was able to attend. I was happy to pay the gas, tolls, class fee, and price for the tools needed. As a teacher myself, I looked forward to learning how to make a pattern. I regret to say that the teacher was obviously not trained to teach. He didnt want questions and spoke often too softly to hear in the room. He rushed through, he ignored my hand held in the air, and if it hadnt been for the man helping him, I would have finished with nothing. The helper was fantastic and very sweet. Benjamin was, to me anyway, the opposite and I have been devastated ever since. I was so shocked that I have stopped purchasing fabric from moods. I thought after the class I would buy up a storm. I am not a pattern maker or a tailor, and perhaps that is what the class is geared to. But to announce at the start that he doesnt respond to questions without a raised hand, that he doesnt repeat what he says, seemed very much like 6th grade and not a class for adults. As for the actual pattern, also a disappointment. It was more about darts than anything else and frankly in this day and age, darts arent used much on regular clothing what with the fabrics we have available. I arrived full of excitement and enthusiasm and left in horror and disappointment.

Ben and Sandro are amazing teachers and people! Everyone should that works there have been a joy! My daughter (the student) and I (I just socialize and pick out fabric) looked forward to every Saturday. We can’t wait for the next session to start after a busy summer! She’s become even more creative and adventurous in her designs. We feel like part of the Mood family! It’s beyond a highly recommend class for any age! Swatch is cute too! In the words of Tim Gunn, “Make it Work”!

I have taken many classes at Mood. For myself and with my daughter. I took the one day pattern making class and couldnt disagree more with reviewer below. Pattern making is a difficult and specific skill. More math than design at the start! Ben (best teacher ever, have been taking classes with him for a year on many specialties) broke down the process so that everyone in the class could walk away with the knowledge of how to draw a personalized pattern. It is a class full of people of different shape and sizes, and yet each one of us were able to accomplish his curriculum, not an easy task! Ben made sure there was times to answer all questions, and took time with whoever needed it to make sure they were successful. I consider myself a decent sewer, but Pattern Making was a different beast! Personally, I needed his help many times and he helped me gain such a great understanding of patten making. My daughter and I cannot wait to take more classes with Ben and the incredible staff there. Thank you Mood!

The Mood U Fashion School experience was Amazing. The Professor Benjamin Mach was very patient and hands-on with the technical components. His ability to make the students feel comfortable with learning a new craft, as OUTSTANDING. I Highly Recommend signing up and learning a new skill that can last you a lifetime! I excited to begin my new garment!!!

We never get tired of taking classes at Mood! The teachers are both knowledgeable, work well with kids, and have become good friends outside of classes. We continue to take the Kids Intermediate class for cool projects. My daughter has been stopped on the street many times and asked about her outfits. She is so proud to say she sewed them herself at Mood. Mr. Ben, Mr. Sandro, and Ms. Chinaza are patient, kind, and cool!

Dear Mood U Team,I would like to thank you for the wonderful experience I spent at your classes. I finally learnt to read patterns which was one of my main goals and actually learned how to cut and sew and finished my clothes neatly. The pattern making was extremely interesting and I can truly say that I can now move forward to sewing my own clothes.I thank each of you for your patience and your input, I received answers to my questions no matter how many times I asked although they were not many which showed how great teachers you were.I can assure you that I will be back after the New Year to continue classes with you.Once again thank you for a great learning experience.Arlene 🇬🇩 Grenada

I started the class at mood not knowing anything about sewing nor the sewing machine. It was a pleasure to meet the teachers, how knowledgeable they were and how patient they were on teaching such a novice like myself. Nothing I asked went on without an answer from them and a complement on how well I was doing. Loveit and Im ready for new classes.

Ben, Sandro & Chinaza are genuinely amazing teachers. The atmosphere of the class can be incredibly light and playful, but at the end of the day you’re always learning. Couldn’t speak more highly of everyone here and the classes they teach.
