This has been a lifesaver. I never found a place that is so dedicated and loves to teach as much as this studio. They are so patient and again love to teach. They are also very reasonable priced and well located.

North Sky Kung Fu - Sifu Julie and Sifu Dario - have changed my sons life! They have given him something to be excited about and proud of! Even during the most difficult time of the pandemic, they found a way to virtually bring practice, positivity and goodness into our home! Theyve given our lives a structure we so desperately needed during the quarantine. Their patience and consistency have been the ultimate gift to our son. It is his favorite place. The studio is professional and full of positive energy. He has grown so much from his experience and I highly recommend North Sky - we couldnt do it without them!

Its a wonderful, amazing school to be a part of and I have earned 2 sash belts through hard work and training thanks to the instructors. They offer online classes during the viral outbreak and its great. You get sweat, workout and do some nice Tai Chi. I love this school and I plan to continue my training and education with North Sky Kung Fu.

Our 9 yr old daughter is as enthusiastic about Kung Fu since her first day at North Sky 3 years ago. She has learned not only Kung Fu but also self defense. I credit Sifu Dario and Sifu Julie, owners, and teachers at the school, who, by their nurturing personalities and teaching method have created a positive and inclusive atmosphere present in every class. As of July 2019 the school has moved a few doors east to a beautiful and spacious new space.

On something of a whim last September we signed our 3rd-grader up for Kung Fu classes here. It has been a life-changing experience. The calm focus and discipline hes learning from Sifu Julie and Sifu Dario has rippled out to all aspects of his life. He seems better able to tolerate frustration, deal with conflict, even sit still. No matter how tired or overwhelmed he feels after school he is always so happy to change into his Kung Fu clothes and head to class. The instructors strike just the right balance between discipline and hard work and creativity and fun. The flexibility and generosity of the schedule means you can commit fully without worrying about missing any given class if you want to go away for the weekend or something else comes up. I feel more grounded and more centered because of this year weve been part of the North Sky Kung Fu family—a rare thing in Manhattan or anywhere. Im always amazed this sanctuary exists in the middle of so much chaos. You walk in and feel instantly transported.

I was challenged on the street of NYC twice over a one year period! After I picked up my Kung Fu practice with North Sky I now feel confident, strong and mentally fit to endure any difficult street challenge. After almost 4 years I earned my green belt last year and I am now a full time member training up to 4 times weekly!

I was skeptical when I first attended the school. I grew up with my father training in multiple martial arts but never had a chance to truly try it out for myself. I had studied Shotokan Karate which I enjoyed but I did not feel like it was me. When choosing a martial arts it must flow from within you, naturally, regardless of how cheesy that sounds. What I liked first about the school was the calm and amicable atmosphere. The students were all very welcoming and Shifu as well. What I like about Shifus teaching method is that he takes the time to learn as much as he can about their students, their capabilities and more just by observation. He will guide each student while maintain an entire class at the same time. He will push you when you need the push and if you feel too strained or worn out he will take the time to help you adjust and heal quickly. He also focuses on meditation as well and grounding our energy. The TaiChi classes are just as wonderful as the actual Ying Zhao Pai training. I have met the grandmaster as well. Shifu really takes to the form of what it means in Chinese which is Teaching Father. Hes very wise and can easily control and command a classroom without moving or saying very much. If he feels you are advanced he will train you further in forms TaoLu or in combative situations. He also takes the time to make sure each student masters the move as they move along. You learn basics, eagle claw basics, fighting techniques, proper breathing for meditation and during fighting, forms, combat and become a part of a great family. He has a great sense of character and is a lot wiser than his age. Personally I think hes secretly related to the Monkey King. ^_^ I would recommend anyone to try this school, they often have Amazon local deals for people who are curious. I also chose to stay with this school because I am an actress and need extensive training for a role that I will be playing in for film and a comic book.
