I’ve been learning Spanish with Adrian for probably over two years now. He is fabulous - patient, knowledgeable and super approachable and friendly. Our lessons have evolved from classes on grammar and more “structured classes” to conversation classes because Adrian recognized that I needed to boost my speaking confidence. I have improved a lot. I certainly have much more confidence now speaking, writing and reading. Would highly recommend Adrian to anyone seeking to learn or brush up on their Spanish.

He is very organized, experienced, and professional. My experience with learning Spanish with Adrian has honestly enriched my life. I understand more of what is being said around me in New York. I am often sent abroad for work, and before I go on these trips, Adrian works with me to build my confidence and brush up on local colloquialisms.

I needed to pass a Spanish competency exam for my job. Adrian helped me twice a week. He tailored each lesson to my needs, and he gave me work to practice at home. Adrian had books, articles, role play and exercises to help me develop the language at a fast pace. Adrian is very personal and friendly and has a great sense of humor. He emailed me to ask how the test went when it was over. I am excited to say I passed with a “advanced low” qualification. Adrian is the best Spanish teacher I have ever had.

As a child of Spanish speakers, I always wanted to be able to speak Spanish as well. I had picked up bits and pieces over the years at home, but as an adult, I regretted not becoming bilingual. I definitely recommend taking Spanish classes in New York with Adrian Gonzalez. He acts out the scenarios so that you laugh and have fun while you learn Spanish. He is very expressive and energetic, so the time flies by, but you are learning and speaking every minute. He slows down and patiently explains differences in the languages and what things mean. He is professional, educated, and knowledgeable about how we acquire the language. His experience and personality make learning Spanish easier. He gives you exercises to practice for homework and goes over it slowly. If you have no time to do work at home, he understands and dedicates more time of the class in the areas that you are struggling. He listens to what you need and the reason that you are studying Spanish, and then he hones in on that for you.

Even though I studied Spanish in college, when I got the job as a Spanish teacher in a Hispanic neighborhood, I was feeling a bit nervous. I found Adrian online, and started taking classes with him to increase my confidence, improve my Spanish fluency, and practice advanced grammar and vocabulary. In the past, although I studied Spanish, I felt intimidated about speaking the language. Adrian is a teacher that makes you feel calm, relaxed, and supported. He is friendly and lowers the anxiety level so you can actually learn to speak and have fun. After taking lessons twice a week for two years, I took a trip to South America. Ive taken Spanish classes from Adrian off and on for the past ten years. I am a first generation Colombian American who was not raised as a Native speaker. I was never comfortable with grammar, and very much wanted to improve my polish. I worked with Adrian intensively prior to traveling for six weeks through South America, then again later when I volunteered as a tax preparer in a predominantly Spanish-speaking neighborhood. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Adrian! He is patient, but firm. He genuinely expects the best from you, like the best teachers you may have had throughout school. Because of that, you are motivated to do the homework and practice. You will walk away from the experience elevating your proficiency, no matter what your level. I so enjoyed my experience that I pushed my (Irish) husband to work with him before visiting my family in Colombia. My husband now communicates better in Spanish than my own brother! Adrian is truly a gem, and when my children are old enough, weve been talking about having him coach us in a path toward becoming a truly bi-lingual family.

Adrian is incredibly knowledgeable and dedicated as a teacher. I would highly recommend himI have been taking private lessons from him for a few weeks now and I feel that my knowledge of Spanish is growing in a comprehensive manner. I was frustrated with my progress from previous group classes and duolingo because I didnt feel comfortable with the overall structure and rules of the language. Adrians methodology is straight-forward and easy to understand and allows for you to go as fast or as slow as you feel comfortable. He is also very accommodating to my busy work schedule.

I found Adrian through some desk research since I have a specific need to learn the Argentinian dialect and pronunciation. In the 4 sessions that I have had with Adrian, I can already tell that I am comprehending more when I watch Argentinian movies and my ability to speak is more fluent and I am picking up a lot of the slang that I was previously unable to understand. I came in at an intermediate level (so you should know that), and its been years since I have studied Spanish, but hes working with me 1:1 using a mix of textbook, worksheets/homework, and some books that I have about Argentinian colloquialisms. We do an hour of review of vocabulary and grammar and then 30 minutes of conversation where he teaches me the slang I need to know (but most likely cannot use haha). I really enjoy our sessions and hes very patient with me and working with my work schedule to fit me in later in the day (also very centrally located near all mass transit). Hes a great teacher, breaks things down in a way that is easy to understand and retain. I am very lucky to have found someone who can help me with my specific language needs and I already feel like its paying off after only 4 lessons. I very much recommend him if you are serious about learning Spanish.

I made the most progress I ever made in Spanish with Adrian. Hes an exceptional teacher who is prepared for whatever level you start out with and then progresses you systematically to the next with tons of interactive, specific and fun exercises. If you dont know the answer to something he wont just feed it to you but really make you think and I found thats what made me grasp grammatical concepts in Spanish that I never figured out in other classes before. Yeah, screw Rosetta Stone. :-) If youre serious about learning Spanish I highly recommend Adrian.

I have taken many language classes in my life but this one with Adrian has truly been one of the best experiences of them all. I spent more than a year in his classroom, only had to stop because my work hours wouldnt allow me to continue. If you really want to learn Spanish, sign up for classes with him. It is intense, you really get the bang for your buck. The 90 minutes are probably worth 3 hours. Adrian believes in the concept of muscle memory applied to the brain. You repeat, you relax, you repeat, until it is imprinted in your brain. Classes are a great mix of vocabulary, grammar, history, geography, and conversation. Adrian will challenge you but if you really want to learn a language and get the best for your money, go sign up with him. If you have any talent in you to learn this beautiful language, he will find it and make you speak and understand Spanish.

Ive been studying with Adrian for the past ten years. He is extremely professional and offers a variety of classroom settings, from individuals to small groups. He is also uses a wide variety of instructional materials, from movies to traditional text books. The best things about Adrian are his sense of humor, his familiarity with Spanish and Latin American culture, his incredible patience and his dedication as a teacher.

These classes were very helpful to me. I worked at a strictly beginner level. Although I have travelled extensively in the Latin American world and fooled around a bit with some Spanish (tapes etc.) I made little real progress. There is no substitute (for me) to having a specific, structured program where the fundamentals are taught. Also the one on one environment focused energy on pronunciation. The pace is what you want but the decipline and expectation that you work at it are always evident. I have my share of language and schedule handicaps making this a challenge, but Adrian was happy to build the timing and pace of learning around me. I think the value is good ($110 for 90 minutes). The facility is basic, there is no real waiting area so if you arrive early you are on your own, but in the overall scheme of things this was a small issue. I would -without hesitation- recommend Adrian and his teaching program.

Adrian is an excellent Spanish teacher. I minored in spanish in college but had not spoken it in over five years. When he started helping me re-learn the language he assessed my level of fluency and started teaching me the basics that I had forgotten while assigning me homework that strengthened what I learned. I have been taking private spanish lessons with Adrian for about a month and a half and I wish I had found him sooner. Im actually able to speak and listen to my friends from latin america. Adrian is a great teacher. I began taking classes with him before traveling to Spain for the Madrid International Furniture Fair (MIFE). I spoke no Spanish at all. His teaching method works extremely well. I learned a lot of vocabulary, and I was able to understand the grammar. He always followed my pace.
