This place is the most AMAZING experience you can give your kids! This is the first time my daughters go to this Summer Camp/ Academy and Im still in shock with all the things they have learned and done in only one month! My God, they all have been a real blessing to my kids, especially Jessica (Ms. Ginie). I have never been in a place where they have been so caring and loving since day 1! I can honestly say they have become an extended family to us. In such a short period of time my daughters, Scarlett (7-yo) and Skylar (6-yo) have learned capoeira moves, songs and to count in Portuguese, how to play 2 instruments, discipline, kindness and respect, the have made a ton of things like, a pandero, soaps, bath bombs, volcanos, and more. They plant, read, play, excersize and they have made new friends. The food is also amazing! The environment is always positive and they encourage the kids to believe in themselves and try their best! Mestre Lazaro is also very kind and encouraging; he always irradiates such a positive energy when hes around! They are very well structured and organized too!I write all this, and I fall short, to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU ALL for your tremendous work!!! -- As you all are a true BLESSING to my daughters lives and I will always be FOREVER GRATEFUL!

My son has been going to CBP for over 2 years now and I wouldn’t change that for anything. The family there has become our family. They are loving and welcoming from the moment you step into the building...which is why signing my son up was a no brainer. My son was very emotional and was having some issues in school. With being taught how to have self control, confidence and courage...all while having fun....he has a better handle on things! Love everyone there. Great team. Great atmosphere. Great overall experience. Excited for our years to come.

I cant say enough about this place. This is my family. I have seen kids grow into teens. I gave Seen new babies be born. My child volunteered as a camp counselor over the summer and she loved to be there. She has also been a student for the past 4 years. This place is a great experience for all kids. It is good to keep kids active and teach them social skills. It is great exercise for adults and they are not as expensive in comparison to other places that offer martial arts. They also run sales often for trial memberships on their website.

My children and i couldnt be more thrilled with our experience here. I wanted my older boys to do something to keep them busy after school. A place they could gain self confidence and acceptance, a place to make friends. At CBP you become a family. Genie is the absolute best with the kids. She is firm, but passionate and loving with the kids, pushing them to their finest potential. Mastre Lazaro has helped talk to and encourage my children with getting along, problems in school etc. Its so much more than a place for your child to gain martial arts experience. Even my 5 year old daughter loves capoeira. I highly recommend if youre looking for something fun for you or your kids, youll wish youd signed up sooner.

My experience with CBP Martial Arts Academy Orlando has been outstanding. My son is 8-year-old, and has been with the academy since 08/2016. Since, I have been able to see a significant growth in his emotional and physical functioning. CBP has been more than an after school activity for him. Besides the cultural and physical experience that Capoeira has brought to my son’s life, the staff have truly made an impact. Mestre Lazaro and the CBP staff have taken the time to know my son, and have a balanced approach to teaching by being supportive and understanding, while challenging him to believe in himself and push himself further than expected. I believe that the aforementioned approach has allowed my son to gain an increased sense of assertiveness, emotional strength, discipline, and motivation. The CBP family has been welcoming, and we now feel part of this community. I highly recommend CBP to all parents and children. I can’t thank CBP enough for the ongoing positive impact that is having in my son’s life.

CBP offers much more than capoeira training- it is a place where the whole family can learn, grow, and connect to a supportive community of players. Whether you want to enhance your athletic abilities and wellness, dive into the movements and music of capoeira, or foster discipline and self-confidence in your children- CBP has it all. The after school program, parents nights out, and summer camp always offer something new and exciting for kids to enjoy as well.

I found this place just by googling summer camps in the area. We were looking for a structured program for the summer where my daughter would stay busy and have fun. Putting her in summer camp at the CBP Martial Arts Academy was the BEST thing I could have done. She loved it. I was impressed by the staff and how much the kids really did and learned. Aside from learning Capoeira overall, she had the opportunity to interact with kids of all ages, participate in activities and field trip and looked forward to going every day. She has even asked to continue to take classes weekly since she fell in love with Capoeria and picked it up relatively quickly. I can also see an improvement in her behavior as well with just more patience overall. I would recommend any parent to check this place out!

3 months ago I embarked on a new journey in my life. Since I was 6 years old I’ve enjoyed watching martial arts, specifically when I saw a movie called Only The Strong. This was a movie based on Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art, and what amazing things the art can do to people’s lives. Since then, I always wanted to learn it but it was either too far or too expensive when I lived in New York. Still being very interested in martial arts, I did Karate when I was very young and then ended up in Muay Thai in my early 20s. I studied Muay Thai for 6 years and loved every minute of it to the point where 5 very close friends and I took a trip to Thailand a few years ago to witness the art LIVE and train out there! We even got traditional Sank Yant tattoos while we were there and that was in experience within itself.I then ended up moving to Florida a few months ago for work. At first I felt very lonely seeing that I moved here alone and all my immediate family stayed back in New York. For anyone that ever moves away from where they were raised, the first month alone is the HARDEST!One day after work I was flipping through channels trying to find something interesting to watch and there it was...ONLY THE STRONG was on T.V. I sat there like a little kid watching cartoons. When it was over I thought to myself, “let me see if Capoeira is out here”. I look mee up a few schools and found one VERY close to my apartment! I sent an email about my interest and got an immediate response and taking a trial class by Gine the office manager.I was a little nervous to go because it was new and I hadn’t done martial arts for a bit so I was rather out of shape but I went for it. Everyone was very welcoming and happy to see a new person join. I was greeted by each student and they all told me their Capoeira nicknames instead of their real names. Apparently it was part of the culture of Capoeira. When we started the class I felt like I was going to pass out. I could BARELY keep up with the basics, let alone do all those difficult movements. After the class I went home and couldn’t move properly from the immediate soreness I felt and it was ever worse the next day but that didn’t stop me. I kept going everyday, 5 days a week. I was in pain, sore, tired, frustrated because I couldn’t do the movements and impatient. I kept training, kept trying and the best part was that everyone was very supportive each and everyday. I made a new best friend, found a new family, learned an amazing art and Capoeira has changed my entire prospective on life. This passed Sunday I had my Capoeira test for this years graduation. At first I was extremely nervous when I was told that I had to test this year know that I had just started. But it motivated me to work twice as hard. I practiced at home, in my office while at work and stayed late after class to do drills. I PASSED MY TEST! I have new found confidence in me that I just can’t explain. I learn the required movements, the names of the movements in Portugués, history and even learned to play a few of the instruments involved in Capoeira. In two days, I have my Capoeira graduation, also known at a Batizado. Now when I first started I was significantly larger in body mass. I dieted, went through pain and worked very hard for this coming Saturday. I had ordered my uniform for this in a specific size and I promised myself that I would work as hard as I had to so I could fit in it and as of this morning, IT FITS!On Saturday I will need to demonstrate to my academy and various other Capoeira academies from around the world and the most respected Mestre’s, Capoeira masters, from Brazil and other places that I deserve to be part of this culture and earn my first cord so I can be known as a statused Capoeirista in this world.I cannot express how excited I am! I will continue on this path for the rest of my life! I’m getting to live the Dream I’ve had since I was 6 years old and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Shout to my academy! Capoeira Brazilian Pelourhino! CBP!

You are going to be hard pressed to find another Capoeira group that is as hard working, dedicated, and friendly as Capoeira Brazilian Pelourinho. I have been with Mestre Lazaro for the past 3 years and I can vouch that he is truly a master of his art. For the adult class, you will work hard and be pushed to your limits on a consistent basis. And you will keep coming back for more because you will be constantly growing in the art! Mestre Lazaro stresses not only the physical art of Capoeira, but teaches and pushes his students to learn the songs and culture of Capoeira as well. The kids that take class not only learn respect and hard work, but also gain a healthy positive attitude towards life. Im still amazed when I come to class and see kids from age 3 up that can tumble kick and flip so freely, and then start singing and playing instruments. As the old saying goes: It takes a village. I am proud to be part of this village and understand why Capoeira Brazilian Pelourinho has been growing strong in Orland for the past 20 years. My Capoeira name is Maçã and I look forward to seeing you in class!

This has become my 2nd home. Brought my son when he was 9 in hopes of improving his speed, reflexes and flexibility. I thought this could help towards achieving his goal to become a black belt in karate. We got here and it was a startup for him. He was quiet and extremely hard on himself. As tome passed he became friendly, social and confident. The skills came all together after. Last October he got his first cordel. Amazed by his transformation and wanting to share his new passion for Capoeira I joined at the beginning of 2016. This has challenged me in many ways but I wouldnt want it any other way. I am on my way to being fit and healthy. Capoeira is for everyone and we love our new Capoeira family.

What started out as a 2-week trial for summer has turned into a life-changing transformation. I hope other parents hear this and are inspired to give this a try. Heres our story...We took our daughter, Samantha (4 yo), to just try it out last summer. We didnt know anything about capoeira, but it looked like a fun two-week trial.I was BLOWN AWAY with the love, care, attention, and time the instructors -- particularly Jessica Wernett (Ms. Gine) -- gave to Samantha from Day One. Mestre Lazaro is incredible. It was as if they could immediately see something special in my child (and in every child), and they see it as their job to shine a light on each individuals strengths, and then make them even stronger. What I love most is the blend of music, history, discipline, and athletics they incorporate into the lessons each week. Samantha has grown in strength, balance, and confidence. Plus, its FUN! Shes developing a healthy sense of competition, and an equal balance of self-worth, good sportsmanship, and teamwork.I honestly dont know where else a child could develop such a well-rounded skill set from a single extracurricular activity.I highly recommend CBP to any parent!

When we came to Capoeira Brazilian Pelourinho we were looking for a sport for our son Lucas that not only he would enjoy, but also that our entire family would enjoy. We have always known about Capoeira and jumped at the opportunity when we saw the sign posted at his school. We called that same day and spoke to Mestre Lazaro: “come check it out!” he said, and so we did. From the first moment we walked through the academy we were treated like family. Having taken Capoeira for only two weeks, Lucas was invited to participate in the kids competition; it made him so happy to be able to participate! The competition was not about finishing in first place, it was about participating and believing in yourself. That’s when we knew we were in the right place. CBP has become such a big part of our family, it has filled a void left by living far away from our family. We love you Genie and Mestre Lazaro, and all the values that you guys represent: believing in yourself, discipline, respect. CBP is family.”

I cannot write enough to recommend Mestre Lazaros Capoeira Brazilian Pelourinho Academy, from the environment to the teachers to the academy to capoeira itself .... The environment -- beyond the space itself (which thanks to its bright colors and the painted handprints of students adorning its walls cultivates a sense of warmth) -- is perhaps /the/ most welcoming I have encountered: whether or not you are Brazilian and regardless of your ability and physical capabilities in general, teachers and fellow students are kind and encouraging. While very much genuine, this may also be thanks to the mestres philosophy, which establishes the importance of comfort for success (the training itself is extraordinarily rigorous, with up to two hour classes [and additional attention even] that push you to your extent, but this is underpinned by a belief that having to worry about how others might be perceiving you unnecessarily impedes your growth). Here you can find a feeling of family, both during and beyond (to before, after, and even outside) the class. Returning to the training, whether of body or mind it is sublime. The mestre himself is psychologically astute, understanding the mind-body connection and able to aid those who may experience some disconnection. The mestre is almost always teaching, though other instructors are, too, graceful and inspiring. The form itself is physically and conceptually [and historically] challenging, and I would recommend it without question . For those wanting to explore it or further hone it, CBP is wholeheartedly suggested.

Ive started training with Mestre Lazaro in 1995. He truly has changed my life. Yes. I learned martial arts and have myself attained the level of instructor and gained the privilege and honor of being able to teach people myself. I have also been so fortunate as to travel the world as a performance artist using nothing more than that which I learned under the training and tutelage of Mestre Lazaro. Also, after suffering a grievous injury, Mestre Lazaro personally took the time to rehabilitate me and get me walking correctly again. More-over, I have learned from him and through his teachings in and outside of the academy to always do my best to be the best person I can be... to always care for others and seek to make this world a better place through our own actions. I honestly cannot say enough about the man or the academy which became and has remained a family to me, or the art form which has so enriched my and the life of so many others world wide. If you want a positive life altering experience, come check out Mestre Lazaros Capoeira Brazilian Pelourinho, and be welcomed to the family!
