This charter School is disguised as an opportunity for children when in reality its just a poor inner-city public School. A charter school is given the opportunity to do things different, parents who enroll their children in these schools expect a difference. This school lies to the face of every parent and follows the most basic and standard of public school teaching. It starts from the top and rolls right down in the laps of the teachers. Nobody in this school cares for the children they are there for themselves, for a paycheck, your child is a number to these people not a student. Theres greater opportunities for education in the immediate surrounding area. Please take this review seriously and look at your options for education.

Both my kids attend Renaissance Chickasaw. The biggest plus is the staff knows the kids by name. Both are in the Cambridge program and my son has made honor roll 3 times this year. Ms. Large was the best teacher my son has had. She was very patient and got to know his likes and dislikes. I go to work everyday knowing my kids are in good hands. Mr. Driver taking over Century 21 has been a huge improvement for the better.Good job to the staff.

My child will be entering 3rd grade this year and I am extremely happy with being a part of the Bulldog family!! Their Cambridge program is excellent! With the help of his previous teachers Mrs. Murillo (kinder) and Mrs. Beard (2nd) my hold has excelled in so many ways! They truly know what it’s like to be an excellent teacher Renaissance Charter is a little ways from my home, but definitely worth the distance! I am looking forward for the upcoming school year and all the knowledge to come!

The staff at this school is amazing. My son has been going to Renaissance Charter School at Chickasaw Trail for two years now he will be going on his third year in the second grade in August. We know the staff By name and they know us by name as well. Is great communication between parents and teachers and any issues that arise or taken care of in a timely manner. My son loves going here because he is treated great by students and staff. I can’t say enough positive things about this school.

My daughter has been going to school here since Kindergarten. She is now going to the 3rd grade. She has had amazing teachers each year. She is in the schools Cambridge program for gifted students and is thriving exceptionally well. Every morning when she is dropped off to school she is greeted by name and all of the staff know her. The school is not large, and as a mother I feel very comfortable that my daughter is in a school where she is known. The school does a fantastic job with sending out information. I get phone calls, voicemails, emails and a regularly updated website.

I purposefully waited until the end of the year to write this review. My son went to this school at the very beginning of the year as a kindergartener. The school was contacting me immediately, every day for things that were so simple. Let the school administrators, especially the principal who may have the education but not necessarily equipped to control the students, tell the stories the children would have to be transferred to OCPS behavioral therapy programs. No other action was taken, the only resolution was to suspend a child in the kindergarten. I withdrew him out of the school after Thanksgiving break. While in public school, I have NOT had any problems. NOT ONE. My son is very smart. He has been on the honor roll pretty much the entire year. Instead of just saying that they did not know how or didnt want to handle my child, they wanted me to label him and this label will follow him throughout his life. Now look at him at a different school doing well with no problems at all. The best decision was withdrawing him out of this school. Just because it is charter, does not mean it is better.

Wow. This is my childs first year here since we moved, and this school is so unorganized. The other Renaissance school on Goldenrod is so much more organized and friendlier than these people are. First day of school at Chickasaw was a nightmare I never experienced before, we are told one thing but it ends up being another, staff are telling parents a hundred different things, theyre not even on the same page. Front desk staff doesnt even let you talk when you call and put you on hold abruptly. One time I was put on hold and forgotten about... They talk to you like garbage and act like we dont know what we as parents are talking about. Also I notice literally anyone can pick up your child from school. My mother went to go pick my child up and no one asked her for her ID all she had to do was initial on a paper. We were given car pick up tags but the students names are not on there so how can they be of use?! I am really considering moving my child to another school. All I can say is Renaissance at Chickasaw - GET IT TOGETHER!

It is very disturbing to see that parents would categorize all teachers at Renaissance Chickasaw Trail as bad because of a few rotten apples. My husband is a teacher at this school and he gets praise from his parents all the time. Its easy to criticize when you do not see the entire picture. The State has placed so many requirements in our educational system that it takes away from quality teaching and learning. Your childs failure has nothing to do with the teacher but everything to do with these so called Standards. Teachers spend more time writing unnecessary lesson plans than teaching our children. We need to go back the old ways of teaching. While the principal is a no nonsense kinda of leader she is a good leader. I notice that some of you referenced the previous principal but you didnt mention that under the old principal the problems that existed because there were issues. In the end, a school is as good the TEAM and that TEAM include the parents.

All the negative comments on here are bogus. Im reading comments about school colors, homework and testing. These teachers are not miracle workers. School does not end at 3pm. Parents need to help their children if they need further help and to recognize if they even need further help. It seems like as soon as the kids get home they go straight to the PlayStation and the parents say nothing. Thats not the teachers fault. Please get on here with real legitimate criticism if you have any but look at yourself first.

I went to this school for three years instead of a regular middle school, and I was hoping they would have improved since my niece is going there as well. I was one of the first graduating classes and back then it was with the original principle, who was nice and sat down to talk. The main problem I had was the students, the bullying was the worst and almost no one seemed to care. A child actually threatened teachers in front of everyone and they only received minor suspensions. As for my niece, they need to improve their academics properly. When I was going she too was bullied by elementary kids. Here is what I want to see fixed for my niece and future students:- (Middle) Teachers at least qualified to teach certain subjects. (Elementary) Teachers that ask questions of how students are, if needing to slow down and such.- Spend less time on uniforms, more times caring about students and asking questions. (Paying to get a school logo on shirts was painful, as well as a jacket. Students at school when I was enrolled got in trouble for having the correct jacket, just no logo.)- Have a bullying program. By the reviews it is still a serious issue and must be fixed.- Library, they still dont have one yet? The only time I could even get books was from my own teacher at the time or wait a year for a book fair. Please, fix your issues. Start with the bullying, then the students health/academics. Thank you.

Horrible school!! What teacher decides to not allow a child to participate in secret santa and for that kid to have to sit there and watch every other kid pick out a name and eventually witness a gift exchange that he was not allowed to be a part of?!! My nephew has been bullied at this school not just by other kids, but by the teachers as well. It seems like the teachers working here really dont give a damn about educating children. Something needs to be done about this and the school board needs to get involved because no kid should have to go through what my nephew has gone through at this school.

My son has been in the school for the last two years, we came directly from Puerto Rico. We feel very fortunate to have him grown into an intelligent, caring, and considerate individual due in no small part to the influence of Charter School. The curriculum in the classroom provides the structure and stimulation my son needs to thrive. My son is challenged at Charter School Chickasaw to move beyond his current abilities and learn at the next level, creating pride and self-value. The creativity in each classroom inspires my son to explore art, technology and his vast imagination outside of school. The compassion by his teachers creates a secure environment where he can build confidence in his behavior and know the opportunity exists to learn from her mistakes. The enthusiasm of the teachers is contagious. The lines of communication are always open. Information about lessons, evaluations, behavior, illnesses, and boo-boos are consistently provided in a responsible and respectful manner. The director’s door is always open. And the staff specially Mrs. Montes, Jessica as well as the others, are always willing to help in the best way they can.. We truly could not be happier with Renaissance Charter school at Chickasaw and their partnership with us to care for my son.”

This school is HORRENDOUS. The staff is completely INCOMPETENT and UNPROFESSIONAL. The front office has two EXCELLENT secretaries, but that’s it. If you are looking for the BETTERMENT of your children DO NOT place them in this school. My daughter a 9 year old 4th grader was exposed to a student watching porn on his iPad and was also sexually harassed by a student in her classroom who was not removed from the classroom, 2 months passed away and my daughter gets into my SUV and informed that he is doing it again! I was so upset I talked to the principal on the car line and since she didn’t like my questions as to why this demon child is still even allowed in the classroom, She told the staff to call the SRO, but no SRO was on duty, but I called my own deputy because I am a law abiding citizen and I don’t have a fear of police...the deputy came made a case and they fixed the issue the next day along with the SRO who is on school grounds. Even the SRO was flabbergasted as to why the boy was still around my daughter. Also drugs and guns are being brought into the school, threats are also made by students so now they can’t carry backpacks how is that helpful?Do you know weapons fit inside of a purse or fanny packs? God forbid you as a parent speak up to be the voice for your children! I was at the carline because it was 3:24 and the rude teacher was ready to drop the cone and close the lanes! I had a minute still by the school code the lane closes at 3:25. He was so annoyed I made the left turn a little wide to avoid hitting the cones ( I can drive trucks and know my accuracy and distance from objects) he told the assistant principal I scared him lol. She told me not to scare her teachers, my response was I didn’t scare him he was annoyed I still had a minute to spare...but the other teacher was standing right next to him and she didn’t make a complaint! The following day I asked the same teacher why he said I scared him, he said, “You was about a foot away from hitting me!” I said, “I wasn’t even close to hitting you with my SUV!” He rolled his eyes! So I also told him this, “If you’re so afraid of doing this carline job you shouldn’t be doing it,” this made him so upset and he was so annoyed with my little advice, he said he will tell the Principal on me (Come on Mister you was more upset with me questioning you as to why you feel endangered in front of your coworkers, whom all great me with smiles and waves except you! Did you think I would not ask you personally? We are adults or not?) I replied I am not a student nor am I employed by the principal so therefore I do not care if you inform the principal about something so childish! It was like watching a grown man throw a tantrum, I have no violations on my record not even a ticket. Due to that man and his insecurities I am no longer allowed to pickup my children on the car line due to “multiple” violations! Sorry but I can ask him why you feel afraid of me! Bullying is always an issue with my son he is in 5th grade I had a meeting about it with the entire staff which didn’t help until I told him to handle it the old way, if he is in your personal space threatening you or touched him he has every right to protect himself. Well let’s say no one bothers him anymore. Since I am a parent that has made such a fuss since the second week of the 2018/2019 school year they suspended my children for fighting each other due to a fight that carried over from the car ride in the morning they fought at school. They suspended both of them. So if you are a quiet parent that doesn’t speak up for your children and don’t mind constant bullying done to your children or sexual harassment and sexual exploitation from iPads and teachers and staff that treat the adults as children!!!!! Then this is the perfect school for you, but if you are the voice and question everything about your children and want things done, you have to go to the district to get results done! It took six months for agendas to come home due to someone not making enough orders for the children!

My children attended this school since it opened four years ago. The school was good until this past school year. I had 3 children in the school ( 1 middle and 2 elementary), I pulled all three out. There is a severe bullying problem at school, two of my children were bullied and my other child recieved a concussion and no one seems to know what happened (even though there are cameras all over the place). The school has fallen into chaos this year. The school also does not have a gym or a library. They also claim to have a science and social studies for elementary students, but those two classes are put into the end of the day, and therefore do not get the proper attention that is needed. There was a new principal this year, and she did not do a great job. The school has taken many steps backwards since she took over. I used to recommend the school to people, this year I have not. I also know several other families that are pulling out their children for next year. The principal also did not care that I was pulling my children out, she over heard me talking with one of the office personnel and said Go ahead and give her the paperwork. This school needs major improvement.

This school is horrible, the staff is very rude, disrespectful and inconsiderate. They are unorganized and no one knows whats going on. This school reminds me of a childrens prison. There are so many rules that do not make sense you cant walk your child inside not even to sit down when your child is eating breakfast, children can only be dropped off and picked up.The front office door is locked most of the day, you can only get your child out of school between a certain time. I had an emergency and they gave me a hard time about taking my child out of school. The teacher assigns homework for friday when he expects it due Thursday. Like many others, I too was lured in by the fantasy that my child would receive a better education at a Charter School, and sadly, that is all it was – a fantasy. So many things wrong with this school from the top to the bottom but it starts with the “leadership” that’s in place, and I use the word leadership very loosely. One of the biggest problems is that the teachers are not trained nor equipped to identify the individual needs of the students to help them succeed. My daughter’s 3rd grade teacher (Ms. Andreina Ledezma) gave homework as “punishment” rather than using it as a reinforcement tool. The teacher was also moody, combative and untrustworthy which really took a number on my daughter’s self-esteem and self-confidence. My daughter once asked her why did most people have brown eyes, and she responded by telling her, For the same reason that most Black people have big noses. She should not even be teaching. The Principal and Assistant Principal hide behind emails and their offices, and don’t even have the decency to speak with you about your concerns face to face. Complaints to their corporate office go unanswered. English is a second language for many of the teachers so there are constant communication issues. Another parent hit my car in the car rider line and did not even apologize. I emailed the principal to send a reminder about safety in the newsletter which he ignored. My daughter went from being a high performer to now having quite a bit of anxiety over school, homework and learning. Overall, it was just a horrible experience for my family and I wish I would have never enrolled my child here. I finally decided to withdraw her and she is returning to a traditional public school next week. Needless to say, even the withdrawal process was a nightmare with these people. If you want your child to have a quality education, at a school that is run by seasoned professionals – DO NOT ENROLL THEM AT RENAISSANCE CHARTER AT CHICKASAW TRAIL. You will be doing them a huge disservice.

My son has been attending since the 2nd grade, needless to say this will be his last year. Ms Rubiano, was an amazing teacher. I couldnt say the same about other teachers here at the school. I feel for some of them because there creativity has been taken away in order to comply with stupid test. 1 Field Trip a year. Barely allowed on the park to play during recess. There is no library in the school, leaving kids to walk across the street to the public library which is dangerous and of course there is a potential of petafyles. Front desk staff doesnt seem to have anything under control, all over the place, slower then ever when it comes to checking your child out your waiting almost 30 to 40 minutes. I also put my son in extra sports activities, and that was a complete joke, such a waste of money, and the volunteer basketball Coach CJ, is trash, she curses around your child, belittles them, doesnt let them play if there not going to win her the game- totally not what playing sports is about. When i told the school they were shocked & yet did absolutely nothing and still allowed this Joke of a Coach to be around kids- because they had no other option but to have her- yet when they first took the 90$ payment it was another coach that said he was the Coach.. then all of a sudden there desperate and decided to get this raggedy coach without even alerting parents of the change. This school has went down hill since the principal Mr. Mariano left. I feel there is favoritism amongst teachers with certain kids, and when anything happens its always the same students getting reprimanded while others dont. I thought my son would get a better education here, but instead its been nothing as expected.. my child recieved all As and Bs one year. And just because he didnt pass one of the parts of that stupid FSA Test they kept him in the same grade. Dont bring your child here, if your wanting to have your child attend a better school, then look at ways to transfer your child to another even if its not the one assigned to your district there are many loopholes such as if your recieve free lunch, or capacity, there is a way to transfer the school. This school is a joke.. Look elsewhere!

This school is complete garbage. Along with Christie Liz review, my daughter is an honor student, on the honor society, and can barely sleep at night, nervous about failing due to CMA exams. Apparently she keeps failing the exam and I recieved an email that she will stay back due to possibly failing FSA. Unlike other schools my daughter can not ask for extra help because no teachers are willing to stay after school and help her. They have a PE teacher teaching computers, and history teacher teaching math. I am so disgusted with this school. If my daughter stays back I will make sure every news station in Florida knows what a joke renaissance charter school is. Mrs Lizarre is an emotional mess over students behaviors and fails to focus on respectful students who strive and try their hardest to succeed. Such as my child who can barely get her attention. She needs to get out her feelings and put on her big girl pants. Im over this school. The only possitive thing I can say is that the principal is completely about her business. Too bad her staff sucks.

While my daughter loved her teacher Ms. Lawlor her kindergarten teacher, there are a lot of flaws with this school, starting with the principal being rude and always looking so unhappy, be aware that the elementary kids from K to 5th grade go from 8:30 am to 3:00pm the bad thing is that at 2:30 pm all of the elementary kids are taken to the cafeteria to wait for the car line, but middle school kids are let out first with all the school walkers because there day ends at 2:30pm by the time is done the car line starts moving at about 3:20 for the elementary kids that are car rides, if you are a working parent like me and get to the school about about 3 to 3:15 you would get your child at almost 4pm because youll be in the back of the line, meaning they have been sitting in that cafeteria without talking or getting up that whole time, my daughter was bullied by a 4th grader that kept coming to her table, when my daughter got up to say something they told her to sit down, I asked my daughter if the teachers didnt see anything and she said they were always talking and not paying attention, I was angry, because it happened a couple of times, the school never verified the incidents, Happy I removed my child from this school, My child and I are very happy with the change of school.

If I could rate this zero stars I would cause is the most badest school I ever entered my suplie list is so long and most of the supplies I dont even need the principal doesnt care about the school she has stupid rules like you cant wear your jacket around your waist and they tell you that your jacket must be navy blue they just say that and when you go to the school with your navy blue jacket they give you detention cause it doesnt have the school logo on it like bruh and the bathrooms are the worst things ever

I love the school and the curriculum but the administrative staff is a bit unorganized and unaware of policies and procedures. They could definitely use some work on communication

The worst school, most teachers are dictators do not take time to know the needs of children and are worse with children who have some type of learning disability. Very few people from the school staff do their job. They cover each other. There are very few teachers who take their profession with passion. The principal seems to care about problems in front of parents but the reality is that she does very little or nothing to help students.
