My kid loves it and thats all that matters. This isnt a 5 star review because Im not a fan of the parking situation. I dont live near the studio and have to wait in the parking lot if I dont have errands to run. There are other parents in this same situation and the studio has 4 parking spots that they block off.I understand using 1 spot for pick up & drop off, but blocking 3 other spots is absurd. Our class payments help pay for those spots, so why not let the parents use them?

I am not from Florida and knew no one at IMDP before my daughter enrolled there. My daughter and I saw a performance by one of the tap dancers at a show in Hunters Creek near our home. We were impressed, so I saved the card that I received from one of the staff members that day.My daughter had no dance training prior to enrollment. She has taken tap for three years (she is now 9 years old) and enjoys the class. She has never had a complaint about the class, the instructor or any of the students. While I do not interact much with the other parents or the staff, I can attest to the fact that the students and parents are focused, professional and kind and the same is true of the staff.Logistically, the studio is located in an area that is convenient for me. Recently, Ive begun to track miles while waiting. The policies and expectations are clear and the staff communicates well. While my own daughter is not/has no plans to be in company, it has been a pleasure to watch the reviews at the end of the year. I moved to Orlando from NYC and have a background in theater and I am always impressed by the company performers.

We love IMDP! The training is excellent, but there is also an emphasis on good sportsmanship from the teachers. Early on our kids are taught to be gracious, say thank you, and to support one another. We couldnt ask for better mentors for our kids. Id recommend the studio to the parents of both competitive and recreational dancers.

I have been dancing at In Motion Dance Project since I was 2 years old, and it has been my home ever since. At IMDP, I have found an extended family, and I believe that my experiences there have helped me to grow as a dancer, and as a person. My wonderful teachers inspire and encourage me in so many ways. I am thankful that they have taught me to set high goals and how to work to achieve them. I would recommend In Motion Dance Project to anyone wanting to learn and LOVE dance.

I have been at this amazing studio for 7 years now. The family value is so strong within the walls. I have met so many great and loving people, who have become my second family. When I started going to In Motion Dance Project I never knew how much the staff and other students would inspire me. I wake up each day ready to go to dance (even though my classes dont start until 6pm). This dance studio does so much more than teach dance technique; we learn how to love, and respect others. Through IMDP I found my love for photography, and I am now able to express myself without worrying if I am perfect. (Lets face it there is no such thing as perfect.)Dance takes so much dedication and passion; IMDP shares these characteristics with each and every dancer who walks through the doors. I love this dance studio so much and consider it my second home! I just cant believe I only have a year and a half left until I graduate; but when I do graduate I will look back and know I spent my days doing something I ADORE. Thank you IMDP for allowing me to grow as a dancer and person! To Infinity & Beyond!

I have 3 children that dance at IMDP. We have been with this amazing studio for almost 9 years. The love, support and training from the incredibly talented staff is just phenomenal. My children learn so much more than dance technique at this studio. They are learning life lessons in a warm, loving and safe environment. It is truly our second home. The owners treat all of the kids with respect and give out thousands of dollars in scholarships every year. They have provided my children with so many wonderful opportunities beyond the walls of the studio. I am eternally grateful to Api and Amanda for all they have done and continue to do with inspiring and nurturing my kids. They are the hardest working people I know, I am in awe of their creative minds and incomparable talent. The entire IMDP staff is positive, wonderful and welcoming to all who enter their doors. I have recruited many families over the years because I want everyone to know what a fantastic studio environment this is!!

Knowing Api and Amanda personally, I can say they always have your childs best interest in mind. Ive grown up my entire life in a dance studio and I can say that I always felt at home here. I also know first hand the amount of headache that seems to follow when the parents make rash decisions based off of emotion. Every parent believes that their child has star quality, and the majority of the time that statement reins true if their child works diligently. Many times parents forget that it takes time to forge a star, heck even a diamond goes through a tremendous amount of pressure to finally become what we know as a diamond. Instead of focusing on what your child is lacking, focus on what your child is getting. There is a wonderful blog by Shad Martin entitled Why I dont pay for dance classes anymore that brings wonderful light to what you are really getting out of your childs dance education. Many tv shows like Dance moms thrive off of the drama that circles the studio life. Some of the drama is staged, but a lot of the drama happens on a regular basis. At the end of the day, we all want our children to be in an environment where they feel safe and loved, and IMDP is one of those many places. If you dont care for the establishment, find somewhere else that you love, nobody will hold it against you.

I have been dancing at IMDP for five years now, and there is never a moment where I wish I hadnt transitioned to this studio. From the moment I walked in the door, my nerves were greeted with warm and welcoming smiles. I have improved more than I ever would have, if I hadnt made the transition. The experience of learning here, is like none other. Hard work, time and dedication is surely put in, and it does pay off. As for my teachers, there is never a moment in which I am not learning. They teach me the technique and styles that I would need as a dancer, but do that with a positive and hard- working attitude. Mrs. Amanda and Mr. Api, as well as all the other staff members, truly work hard to provide what is best for us. By using their talent and knowledge, the feedback and advice they give, never fails to be inspiring, and they reach out to us by showing us the reality of the way life works. They shape us into hard working, understanding, and loving dancers as well as people. In Motion Dance Project is my release and is one of the places I look forward to going. The friendship between my fellow dancers and between my teachers, just gives me that comforting feeling. We treat each other like family and never fail to support each other. Everyone is so easy to get along with, and there is respect for every individual. Everyone has such passion to dance, and there is no greater feeling than being in a room filled with people of the same interest as you. IMDP has been the best decision for me, and it could definitely be for you as well.To Infinity and Beyond!

In motion Dance Project has been our family and second home for seven years and we havent been happier . My daughter is a company member and just loves IMDP. Her dancing abilities have been nurtured and her growth has been nothing less than amazing ! The owners and staff are very good people, dedicated to elevating your child to the best of their abilities . I highly Recommend IMDP to anyone that is looking for a passionate studio dedicated to professionalism and excellence, a studio that puts your children first. I have made great lasting relationships and friendships, ones that will last a lifetime. We help one another in times of need and encouragement. My mother passed away three years ago February 19th and if it wasnt for this dance studio I dont know how I would have made it through, especially for my child ! Thank you Amanda for always being here for us. This dance studio is nothing less than STELLAR!

This is my 8th year dancing at IMDP and my 7th year in company. I have never danced at a more nurturing and positive dance studio. In Motion Dance Project is truly something special and that is because of the amazing faculty that draws us together as a family and a strong team. They teach us important life lessons and help us develope and strong work ethic and tools to go out and be successful in what ever career we may choose. This is my second home and I am so blessed to come here everyday.

Its true that IMDP turns out champion dancers and award winning choreography, and there is no doubt that Amanda and Api (owners) are hardworking and driven. In the end, our family decided that we prefer positive role model mentors and a nurturing environment over the rather unwelcoming, factory feeling that In Motion Dance Project left us with. We enrolled our child because we wanted her to be able to enjoy her passion while also improving technique. Unfortunately, mostly due to one particularly sour instructor, our child felt like she was a burden rather than a student. While we realize they are running a business, we felt as though IMDP management often forgot who was signing their paychecks--- their clients. And not just those select favorites that they give the majority of their time and attention to. Often times wed barely get a hello or so much as eye contact at competitions and it was this constant feeling of insignificance and under appreciation that turned us off to the studio. Weve experienced other winning dance studios that manage to maintain discipline with friendly attitudes and encouraging dispositions. Of course, no studio is perfect but IMDP turned out to be way less than we expected and while most reviews we have read are positive, we spoke with many parents that felt the same as we do. We heard that it wasnt always like that, and its a shame that greed may have compromised a good thing. For us, the right choice was moving our child to a studio where she could learn and grow and above all, enjoy herself.

I have had the pleasure and privilege of being with In Motion Dance Project from the very beginning. My family and I have invested much time, energy and money into this studio, but we have yielded returns that I consider to be priceless. Indeed, my children have grown into strong dancers, but not without hard work, discipline, respect, teamwork, and the ability to accept constructive criticisms. I have found that the IMDP directors, Api and Amanda have been, and continue to be, earnest in developing each of these ideals within their students. The entire IMDP faculty and staff have inspired my children to always put forth their best. Throughout the years they have have given my children unique opportunities to expand and grow their talents, from performing for terminally ill children or for televised Disney performances, to winning substantial college scholarships. IMDP has enriched their lives with truly amazing experiences.A word about IMDP Director, Amanda Plesa: I believe her to be one of the hardest-working people I know. She takes all aspects of her job very seriously, down to the last rhinestone embellishment on a dance costume. She is an extremely creative choreographer, and most of all, a gifted teacher. Amanda does set high standards, but I am always impressed at the level of professionalism that her students are able to attain.

My daughters, ages 6 and 7, have both been dancing with IMDP since the ages of 2.5. In fact, IMDP served as their first school ever, with both girls starting their dance education in 2011 within the warm and loving classroom of Ms. Emily and not long after the youngest one was out of diapers! Since stepping foot into the studio, my girls love of dancing has continued to grow, along with their abilities, their sense of teamwork, and their joy! We went from that first year at IMDP with one class a week, to the next year with two classes a week, to finally four classes a week, which culminated with my oldest girl last year eventually begging for us to let her be a part of the IMDP company. Not surprisingly, the younger one made a similar request.Of course, as parents we are always evaluating the benefits or the costs related to the experiences our children will have. However, with this decision, both myself and my spouse felt confident that if we were ever to involve our girls in competitive dance, this would surely be the studio. Not because of their outstanding showing at competitions (although that is true!), but because of the leadership, the professionalism, the caring, and the sense of teamwork that we experienced coming from the owners, Api and Amanda, and from their staff. You can see their commitment to these ideals being carried out in the actions of the older company dancers in the way they act towards the younger members; you can see this through the actions of the friendly front office staff (shout out to Ms. Kelly!), and you can see it in the way the kids leave inspired, even after tough days, to keep trying their best.Nothing is ever perfect and teachers are human and can have good days and bad, just like anyone else. But as an educator myself who is married to another educator, we understand the amount of time spent before, during, and after classes that occurs to help your students succeed. If ever we had a question or a concern, I can assure you that it was handled by staff in a professional way. And because Api and Amanda encourage positive, goal-directed behavior/attitudes from everyone, including company kids, staff, and PARENTS, the occasional negative comments or bad behavior by a kid or a parent sticks out like a sore thumb and is not encouraged. In terms of the net benefits of having been involved with this school, I cant say enough good things. My girls have grown as dancers, developing technique, as well as an appreciation for the terminology and form related to all types of dance. My girls have also grown in terms of their ownership over dance and over at-home practice - even at their young ages, my 6 year and 7 year old will initiate practice of their routines and work so hard on their own time because as they say to me, If we work hard and do our best, we can celebrate no matter what! If nothing else, the sense of teamwork and the sense of hard work will be the biggest gifts my girls will take away from their experience with IMDP, but we are in awe of their blossoming skills as dancers too! Thanks IMDP!

Ive been a dancer at IMDP for going on four years now. It has been the best experience of my life. If it werent for Ms. Amanda, Mr. Api, and all of the wonderful teachers at IMDP, I wouldnt be where I am today. I dont even know if I would be dancing. Apart from dance training, the staff teaches us crucial life lessons every day. They tell us that a trophy is just a piece of plastic and its really about learning and growing into a better dancer. Ive not only grown as a dancer in my time at IMDP, but as a person. Ive realized the value in perseverance and teamwork. Sticks in a bundle dont break. Ive learned that hard work gets you far. Ive also been so lucky to take class every week with some of the most amazing teachers and choreographers. I look up to them and they inspire me every day. When I am having a bad day, the only thing that can truly cheer me up is going to dance. The teachers have an undeniable passion for what they do, and love for each student. They dont only care for their students as dancers, but as a people too. The other students at In Motion Dance Project are no exception. I have found a second family. The kids there are my closest friends, which makes IMDP my home. I joined IMDP at 12 years old, and had been at my previous studio for 10 years. I was so nervous to go to a new studio, I almost just quit dance altogether. But the day I walked in, I was welcomed with open arms, and I knew it was the place for me. I could not imagine myself dancing anywhere else. IMDP has been such a blessing in my life. To infinity and beyond

**This is Kelseys mother Kristin Flanders. Im posting a review under her name as I am having issues posting under mine**Oh, your kids are competitive dancers? So is it like that show on TV?I always get that question when talking to people who dont get it. I am very quick to explain that our studio is everything that show on TV isnt. In fact, as far as I know, Amanda, Api and their staff avoid competitions that associate with that show on TV.When my children attend a competition, they are given a certain set of standards that they are to follow. Parents included. From what I can gather, proper studio representation is key. With that representation comes respect of one another and of other studios. I have to say I have never witnessed such a thing as far as other studios go! These kids applaud each other from the audience. They most certainly applaud, congratulate and support other studios during award ceremonies. What is most unique is that this team of dancers waits until the end of the competition weekend, lines up and each dancer personally thanks the judges no matter what the outcome. Frankly, it is quite remarkable to witness. These lessons are all learned from within the walls of In Motion Dance Project. If my kids take nothing else from their years of dance training, they will have taken lessons in good character. Does it get any better than that??Id like to address the comment about not being personally addressed by staff at competitions. I am in my 7th season of bringing my kids to competitions with IMDP and I am more than aware that Api, Amanda and staff are at work during those competitions! They are in the zone, if you will. They are watching and taking notes to improve their choreographed pieces. They are on standby to amend issues with music. I know not to approach them unless there is some emergency, and I certainly dont expect a personal greeting. If I pass them in the hall, I will say hello and expect nothing more in return than that. It might even be nice to offer to pick them up a coffee if youre running out for one. Its much more convenient for parents to slip out of the building for 20 minutes than it is for them. You get what you give :)More than once, it has gotten back to my children that they are known as favorites. People (parents and kids of those parents) use the label in a nasty way. Things like that will always get back to people. Nobody likes that label; it has a negative connotation. What my kids are NOT: perfect, disrespectful, bullies, ungrateful, unkind, cocky or conceited. What they ARE: respectful, dedicated, hard working, driven, focused and HUMBLE. If that makes them favorites in your book, perhaps it is time to stop and think about the lessons youre instilling in your own kids.Is the staff perfect? No, of course not. They are human. Have I had issues with any staff since joining IMDP 7 years ago. Yes. Was it dealt with? Absolutely. And it wasnt dealt with via google review. Just speak up...Amanda and Api are approachable people. They are understandably busy, yet find the time to address concerns. It saddens me to see such a negative review of the home my kids have grown to love over the years. My younger children have quite literally grown up at IMDP. Dance is just a part of what they learn at this facility. Its a shame to read a review about issues that could have just as easily been handled internally. This is a GREAT place for kids, and I am confident that they are in a safe and nurturing environment.
