I like this theater. I seen many plays here over the years. But now your Covid policy is ridiculous. You have to show proof of vaccination AND still wear a mask-- even asthma sufferers. You charge more for plays and then expect your patrons to endure your oppressive policies. No wonder there are so many available seats. Youll say youre making us feel safe. What youre doing is making your patrons avoid your theater. You must think youre in New York City and not Orlando.

I got married here. It was beautiful and amazing. The staff was nice and answered my questions and it was WAY cheaper than the science center or the art museum. Also BIG bonus for me: they had their own tables and chairs!! Highly recommend events in their garden area, the lights are beautiful and they have many reception rooms to choose from. There was a changing room for me to put on my dress, and the reception hall had cool lighting and a unique rounded ceiling.

My husband and I had our wedding ceremony at Orlando Shakes. We happened to stumble upon this venue while looking at another across the street. When we walked through the Shakespeare Theater lobby and into the Darden Courtyard, we knew we found the perfect location. Prior to our visit at Orlando Shakes, we had visited numerous other locations and did not have the exciting feeling of finding the “perfect” ceremony spot. It is hard to fully describe the beauty of this setting. With brick paved ground against a historical brick building, and oak trees with hanging moss, and lights strung overhead. This would be a great location for an outdoor reception as well. In addition to being a perfect location, the customer service from the staff here is absolutely top notch. Most of my interaction was with Alyssa and Tasha who were incredibly helpful, patient, and kind. I can’t say enough about Orlando Shakes. They also have other locations that are available for weddings. If you are getting married in the Orlando area, definitely keep Orlando Shakes in mind.

Have attended multiple productions in each of the last five or six seasons and enjoyed each and every one. Have enjoyed new plays, classics, Shakespeare... you name it. Staff is always extremely helpful - even on a couple of occasions when I needed to change/exchange tickets due to something unforeseen coming up. Highly recommended.

Until today I had limited contact with the Shakespeare Theater. I had been to the physical theater a few times for the Fringe Festival. Once I went through it to reach the Firehouse Museum with my son. However today I saw an actual play in the childrens theater, done by this company. Impressive is an understatement. The theater itself has seating on all sides. Numerous times during the play the actors stood on a circular device that was going around in a circle. So we could see all the actors in those scenes. The lighting was all done by a light board overhead. The way the lights highlighted the actors and added to the mood, took considerable time and effort. The actors were a diverse crowd each with their own talents. They all worked well together. If this outfit puts this much effort into a kids play, I would love to see one aimed at adults.

Came here with some friends to see Hamlet on Thursday night. My friends were never here before to experience a live play. I myself several times for other Shakespeare plays. Such a fantastic and memorable show! The actor for Hamlet was incredible and he did a outstanding job. Standing ovation all around the room. The other actors and actresses did a fabulous job as well. We all loved the show so much, we couldnt stop talking about it going home that evening and 2 days afterwards. It was on our minds non-stop. Thank you so much for the amazing experience for my friends. My friends and I looking forward and coming back to see The Three Musketeers in 2020.

Short Version: After my awful and avoidable experience, The Shakes should be renamed: “The Heartless Managers and their Undisclosed Policy”Long Version: My family and I purchased tickets to attend the Shakes’ production of Snow White, which was mainly geared toward young children. My husband and children arrived at the theatre first. So, my husband had my ticket waiting for me at “Will Call”. Since my youngest daughter (age 2) had a sprained ankle, I naturally wanted to ensure that I had everything that she needed, and I wanted to park next to my husband’s car...which took longer than expected. This was the cause of me arriving in the parking lot 10 minutes late followed by me driving around the parking lot for an additional 5 minutes like a confused Uber driver in search of my husband’s car! Now, factor in 5 extra minutes to walk into the theatre, I am now 20 minutes late for the show. The Will Call manager hands me my ticket, and he tells me to sit on the couch and watch the production on the smallest of small TVs. With a confused stare, I asked him when I could go inside to join my family. I was thinking that he would’ve told me to wait for a character in the show to do some part in the play, and then I’d be able to walk into the theatre as most other theaters do. No, no, no he explained. I would not be allowed into watch the play AT ALL inside the theatre because I was 20 minutes late.I, of course, explained how this is not disclosed anywhere on your website.......others theaters don’t do this (small or large) .... you’re separating me from my family....etc. He did not care about the logic or the clear rationale but cared only about this undisclosed policy. As I walked toward that sad little couch and even sadder TV, out walks the theatre manager, and she explains the 20 minute rule policy again. She rudely explains that this policy is in place so that the actors are not disrupted. Coincidentally , a mom and daughter walk out of the theatre, and they are able to re-enter the theater while I am talking to this manager. So, I asked how are they able to walk back inside of the theatre if your “goal is not to disturb the cast”? She said, well, they were on time, and you were not! So, I asked her plainly : Are you penalizing me for being late, and you’re denying me time with my family? She said “yes”. I was dumbfounded at how rude she could be!! Her tone was rude, and the idea to teach a mom a lesson when I was doing things to take care of my family, which cause me to be late.I refused to stare at the sad and fuzzy TV and walked toward the front of The Shakes. Since the Will Call manager was staring at me, I said to him that this policy is just awful. As if it couldn’t get any worse out pops a random will call employee, and he starts yelling at me and throwing up his arms about how the policy is the policy. The situation was so out of hand at this point that I alert my husband. So, my husband walks out of the theatre at this with my distraught 2 year old, who wanted a mommy’s comfort given her ankle. My husband took over the discussion and explained his disgust with the policy from that point onward. Other onlookers later told my husband how unreasonable the mangers were being. In the end, The theater was full of distractions, and my late presence would not have disrupted their show! However, both managers still refused a mom time with her family that we paid $75 for , and it was all over 20 minutes. They took a family of experience that should’ve been enjoyable experience and flushed it away because of an disclosed policy and two heartless managers.

If you are looking to experience art, then look no further. The Shakespeare Theater is wholly committed to a warm atmosphere, outstanding plays, and a memorable night. Ive seen over 20 plays with them in the course of my lifetime, and each has been a wonderful experience. The acting is always above average, and the theater intimacy leaves no room for bad seating. Dont go see a movie, see a play here. Its worth it

It was our first time here today and it was awesome! My sisters and I went here for a school requirement and we were expecting that it was more for the kids. We ended up enjoying the entire show. The cast were awesome especially Erig Fagan who played Dwarf Mack (lead dwarf) and as the ensemble (the king, the huntsmen, the magic mirror, the bears voice, etc). He played almost all the characters. He was so great at multitasking and breaking the 4th wall. All the characters were hilarious and great actors. We would definitely come back here to watch them again. ❤

I went to enjoy 12th night on March 3rd, 2018. First play I could attend in five years since my car accident that ended my special ed career, put together with sticks and screws and brain injured. Imagine my complete horror as the character Malvolio limped like me, atopped talking to take steps like me, begs the people he LOVES and SERVES trick him because he demand quiet to sleep at night!!! The audience is laughing. Its still okay to make fun of the hadicaped. I had to constantly address normal kids bad behavior to their special classmates. I emailed the heads of everything on the Orlando Shakespear Website but only the actor who potrayed Malvalio responded and said, in summary, my intentions are pure, dont be butt hurt.I am heartbroken. One of my fondest Orlando Shakes memory is Taming Of the Shrew 2002, Lake Eola Amphitheatre. Puturcio breaks the fourth wall and asks How would you tame a shrew? And my husband (now 26 years) was so involved in the play he shouted back from our back row seats Great sex!!!! And he still does.
