Danzan is a great system taught by a great instructor. Sensei Bill loves teaching and is skilled at it. The style is perfect for those who aren’t big or strong to learn practical self defense skills. Good workout and great fun! Wednesday nights 7:30-9:30

This is my introduction to martial arts and I love it. Sensei Bill always has real life self-defense examples for the traditional techniques. As a woman, I greatly appreciate it. Most importantly its fun..... Def a great way to beat the Monday blues!

Both senseis are really nice and easy to work with. I had been away from the mat for a while and they made it very easy to transition back onto it. I highly recommend this class for anyone new or returning to Danzan Ryu or martial arts in general!!

I have been attending class every week since the beginning of the year (2018) and i have to say that this is an excellent dojo with a great sensei. I have been looking for a good dojo for over a year now since i moved to Florida and almost from the first class on i knew that i would be sticking with this one. I fully plan to continue going to this dojo for as long as i live in Florida. Sensei Bill is a genuinely kind person and a great teacher, I would highly recommend this dojo for anyone looking for a martial art system to defend themselves.

Sensei Bohan is an excellent and knowledgeable instructor, but also extremely patient. If youre an experienced martial artist, or new to self defense, this dojo is the one for you.

Ive been to 3 classes that run from 7:30pm until 9:30pm and I thoroughly enjoy the excellent instruction in the class from Sensei Bill, his assistant instructor and all the other advanced, intermediate and even newer students. Every student is respectful, informative and fun to workout with. Kids are aloud to join with their parents, but the way it currently is run, it seams to be primarily an adult class. Danzan Ryu was the first Jujitsu introduced to the US. It is the most common taught Jujitsu in the country and I can certainly see why. Ive had various martial arts over the years and I can already tell that I love this class. It seams to run in a general manner for the beginner portion with warm-ups, stretching, rolling, falls, take-downs, locks, chokes and intermediate combinations and variations right off the bat, while some of the advanced students eventually break off to get into the heavier stuff. Im too busy in my class to watch the advanced segment. It is held within a traditional Aikido dojo where other arts are also practiced on other nights, like Kendo, Karate and Judo. The dojo itself is rather large. 2 separate classes can be held simultaneously, it is that big! The mat is extremely nice!!! Custom built, it has very nice firm double-layered padding built on top of a raised floor about a foot off the ground and is supported by some form of a firm spring system that engineers put together, Im told. It is by far the best mat I have ever seen. The prices are also FAR cheaper than most other schools I have checked out. Various weapons also line every wall in this spacious, air-conditioned and extremely hygienic school which is well lit and includes ceiling fans and an extremely high ceiling. I have to give this extremely well kept secret in Orlando 5 stars as the finest dojo I have ever set foot inside of over 43 years of my life dabbling in various forms of martial arts at numerous schools. There are also no start-up fees or contracts. You just come to a free class and if you like it, you stay as long as you like until you cant come anymore (or take a hiatus). Just cool traditional fun that immediately translates to real world confrontations, which is precisely what Im looking for!UPDATE AFTER 8 MONTHS ATTENDING: All classes continue on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30. My 2 young children have been permitted to work out with me on 3 occasions. Children at that age are not permitted to work with others, due to understandable risks of potential injury. There are about 6 or 7 traditional martial arts taught at this dojo. All of them have different instructors that are exceptional in there art. Danzan Ryu came to Hawaii in the late 40s (about the same time BJJ came into being) and is one of the first mixed martial arts. Our class rarely gets more than 12 students at any one session and is about 30-40 female. Every woman is much smaller than I am and they can all very effectively demonstrate the techniques on me, which shows how important this style is. It basically prepares you to very effectively fend off and/or disable a bully, who by nature is almost always a larger opponent. I learn from not just our Sensei and assistants, but I learn from every single student. Everyone in the whole dojo/facility is very respectful and there are no meat-heads trying to prove how awesome they are. The place is terrific and I cant recommend it enough! Come check out a few free classes simply to see if it is something youd be interested in.UPDATE AFTER NEARLY 2 YEARS...Still showing up mostly every Monday. Still having a ton of fun learning this traditional Jujitsu style that was first taught publicly in America in the 40s to Americans of all gender and nationalities. Were always looking for new people to check out a few free classes to see if they like what we love. Know anyone? :)

I have been attending the Danzan Ryu Jujitsu class with Sensei Bill for about two months now. This is an exceptional dojo. Sensei Bill is a great and patient instructor who gives real world uses for the techniques that he teaches. I have a bit of background in martial art, i.e. judo and FCS (Filipino Combat Systems) and joining this class has been a fantastic addition to my skill set. Class is easy to follow and we get to work with different students throughout. The students are also very knowledgeable and give great feedback. If you are looking for a Danzan Ryu dojo look no further. Youve found the best :).
