My son has been going here since he was in kindergarten. He just moved to their middle school building last year. The teachers are so wonderful in helping the kids succeed in school. They are very responsive to my emails every time I follow up with my son’s performance in school. Ms. Garlock and the rest of the admin are also very helpful and very accommodating every time I make an inquiry. I am also grateful for the people who manages the traffic every morning and afternoon to make sure it goes smoothly and safe for the kids. They’re also starting to incorporate more sports for the kids that way they could enjoy a balanced development. Their apps such as the parent square and infinite campus helps me keep track of their activities and assignments and my son’s performance in school.

Coral Academy has been great for having the option of online learning during Covid. They notably have harder academic classes that challenge the students, which is why we chose this school originally. Teachers are easy to reach by email. Only dislike is current location of middle school campus.

Coral Academy is a good school for those that want their children to have a strong focus on basic academics. Your child will be pushed to think and to work hard while having a good environment to learn other elective course or passions like; robotics, chess, and so on. The school offers after school tutoring to all students in need as well as sports, like cross country. My child has been in this academy since first grade, and I can tell you that after having two older children go through public school, we made the right choice in putting our youngest in this charter school.

We have been so grateful to be part of the Coral Academy of Science community since my son was in K! Weve been thrilled to have the benefit of smaller class sizes, benefits like tutoring & clubs, and even the simple joy of uniforms that take the emphasis off of status and keep it where it belongs, on the education! The long-term educators & admin has made us feel like part of the Coral family, not just a body filling a seat for student count. Small charter schools arent dor everyone, but Coral has been a big blessing for my family.

My daughter attends. Started in 5th, now in 7th. We fully expect her to attend through high school years. We feel she learns with the best of them and social skills are tactful. The administration is skillful and attentive.

Our son transferred to Coral Academy Elementary in the 4th grade during COVID. The online classes during COVID were exceptional. The middle school experience this year for my son has been amazing. The communication with teachers is wonderful- it’s enough but not an overload- the teachers have high expectations for our son to be able to communicate school work with us but teachers jump in just enough of things aren’t communicated completely. I love the academic expectations the school has for the kids- my son excels when applauded for academic excellence and this school does it all!

I have always liked the teachers and the administrative staff. Communication is excellent and the education my kids receive is above expectations. The diversity among the students is soich higher than anywhere else in Washoe County as well!

Our community at Coral Academy of Science is diverse and active! We are enriched by working together, continually growing, learning and changing. I am in the perfect position as the middle school art teacher, where all other subjects: history, science, math, ELA, language, music and movement are integrated into the art curriculum. Traditional, core studies in techniques and materials are emphasized while we explore personal expression and the art of critical thinking. I enthusiastically encourage a search for knowledge while providing creative structure in each art project. I am so impressed by our students’ open minds to explore the world around them.

I moved to Reno at the beginning of this school year due to my husband changing jobs. As a public school teacher for the past 21 years in Houston, Texas, moving across the country was pretty scary. Especially in the middle of a pandemic. From the moment I interviewed here, the staff has been amazingly supportive. The curriculum is great and the expectations of the students are extremely high. The students are fantastic and live up to the expectations set for them. The school is very organized and even throughout this crazy year, the expectations to make progress are integrated into all aspects of the day. I look forward to working here in the future.

I went here for school years 2016-2017 and half of year 17-18. When going there the staff was horrible, they were very rude and way too strict. The principal then had even been very unprofessional and accused my mom of lying and of being a bad parent. The staff then had had no trust or respect for most of the kids. The only good thing about this school was the curriculum. Besides that, there was nothing good about it. Even the location is bad, Its right next to a mental hospital. I would not recommend.

As a parent of a kid who is going to this school I want to say that this school is great. Homework every evening. Nice teachers. They work hard and do a great job! THANK YOU!p.s. additionally I want to say that most parents bringing their kids to this school for a reason and not just because it happens to be in their zip code.

My son attends this school and I am glad we decided to put him here. He has some of the most amazing teachers. He is happy with majority of his teachers which is awesome for us because he has a tough time and I know of at least 4 of his teachers truly understand him and this makes me appreciate them alot!!!

I have graduated this middle school, and all I truly want to say is that this school is terrible. They dont know how to resolve problems correctly, it is very unsafe and placed in a bad neighborhood. Honestly, I dont know why this school is considered a good school. Very disappointed on how unsafe the conditions of the school is, and lastly there are barely any teachers who care about how youre doing. There is only one teacher I know that cared about me while I was attending this school. Im happy I dont attend this school anymore

I love this school and I really wish I could go back but sadly, I had to move. This school is one of the best schools I have been to.

I have worked at Coral Academy for 5 years. I really enjoy working with the teachers and Admin. Teachers go out of their way to stay after school to tutor students that are having problems. The goal at our school is to have each child succeed. Its make me mad that the reviews are from students that have left our school, that didnt follow rules or have behavior issues!!

An amazing school to go to without a shadow of a doubt. Theres many different cultures and perspectives and little problems within the student body. It angers me to see people leaving low stars because they couldnt get over a Turkish persons accent or their child got bad grades and they went to say its the schools fault. Ive been going to coral for years and I love the rigorous curriculum that I receive, unlike gate, the honors class actually makes me work for the grade and prestige that come with it. If you want a place where your childs intellectual and social needs can flourish then I highly recommend considering Coral. Were also getting competitive sports for 2016-17 onward :)

I go to the middle school of coral and it was a horrible mistake. The administration doesn’t care about the students or even the ones with mental disabilities. Mr Monahan is the only person who genuinely cares. The work given out is looked at as busy work. The teachers are disrespectful to the students and the homework isn’t graded for week to months. The dress code is over looked at they care more about that the mental health and the safety is overlooked as well. Every time the intercom is turned on I think it’s a code red and something bad is happening. The recess is filled with smoke and bad people circling it. The fact that I’ve had 2 code reds and 1 code yellow in a month tells a summary of coral academy of science the academic benefits don’t make up for the lack of safety and respect here. I am moving schools due to it

Administration and rule-wise, its not very good. Kinda draconian and outdated. As a senior, I have every credit I need, and at any public high school, I could be doing more useful things than taking a class I dont need. Yet, here, you cant leave. Off campuses dont exist. On top of this, class choices are limited. You could do much more in sports, clubs, APs, internships, etc. at another school. Also school pride is a -2/10. A few of the teachers are wonderful, but save for that, its not worth 4 years of internal turmoil.

Ive been to several schools growing up, but this school was definitely the worst. The teachers expect students to understand concepts that the teachers cant/ wont explain well enough for students to be able to comprehend. The staff also doesnt take mental illness into consideration at all. I was sent to the guidance counselors office when I attempted suicide and none of the teachers ever did anything to make sure I was okay, which I expected, but I wasnt even allowed extensions on my assignments when I had to leave to go to mandatory therapy, which I was sent to by the guidance counselor! Mr. Monohan is the only staff member that cares about students. If he reads this, I hope he knows I am grateful and better than ever, thanks to him.

I mean the school is ok but its the students. The teachers give too much homework and expect too much out of them and some of them are bad teachers, like for example one teacher hasnt graded any work for the past 3 months there. With teachers like this how do they expect them to learn and get good grades?

I currently attend this school. TOO much drama for middle schoolers😕 admin is never available to talk to... The music program is most definitely not supported! The teachers are okay, many have heavy accents and i and other students cant understand... the rules are a little too much. Many detentions are given for no apparent reason and there should be more school events.

I have 2 teenagers that went to this school. It was the worst mistake I ever made. They dont listen to the students or properly disipline them. They care more about the students dressing just right then whether they are being disruptive in class. Many of the teachers have accents you can barely understand. And now that I have moved my teenagers, I am having issues with them not suppling information I need.
