My son signed up for lessons, he has been playing for 2 years already- so not totally new to music. But looking for something to keep him busy over the summer. We wanted a teacher who was a good fit, so asked about trial. It’s a PAID trial, but in my opinion very worth while to make sure it’s a fit for both instructor and student. My son liked the instructor very much. When I called to enroll, I was told we had to pay an “enrollment fee”. However, the offer online was NO enrollment fee and FREE book for summer classes. The owner told me it ONLY applies to families that don’t do a trial lesson. Because I had a complimentary trial, I DO have to pay enrollment fee and buy all books. I’m not a fan of bate and switch. I looked back at the offer and it didn’t say anything about paid trials disqualifying the offer. How is the trial complementary if we paid full price for it......Needless to say, we went just down the street for a true free trial and are making pure rock music with a much better music school that has many more instructors, more economical rates and are honest!! I can’t in good faith recommend this music school.

I’ve been having good experiences at Rochester Academy of Music (RAM). RAM offers more benefits than my child could use them. I think RAM is under well management team with clear mission of respect. Integration of visual, upkeep items like/or new rug, humidifier, WIFI, grade (ladder) system, recitals, drawings, contest and etc. that created the dynamic environment. The lobby is inviting and friendly place. I never thought I could talk to other parents who originated from other countries or continent such as Denmark and Australia.

My daughter was looking for an experienced flute instructor with lesson times after 4 pm. We were pleased with the attention Cathy gave to my daughter. Very easy to communicate with Rochester Academy and the location was a bonus!

My daughter has been taking lessons here for several years. The staff is friendly and knows our names. The recitals are professional and well attended. We have been happy with how supportive and helpful the teachers have been. The group has a very wide array of different instrument classes.

My son is picking up the trumpet as an extra instrument and loves his teacher Chuck teaching him what he needs. He is hoping to be doing jazz band next year and we because of his teacher Chuck he should be. Thanks

My children have really benefited from their music lessons. All of the teachers they’ve had and the office staff are professional, competent and kind. I would definitely recommend RAM to anyone!

My 5-years-old learns violin at Rochester Academy of Music for half a year and really enjoy the lessons. Charles is a great teacher who teaches the little kid not only how to play the instruments, but also how to love the music.

Absolutely recommend the Rochester Academy of Music! Such a great music school. Our son has now been there for 4 years and our daughter 1 year, and their appreciation and love of the study of piano is incredible. They each go to practice each night on their own and it is so nice to hear them playing and also great to see how proud they are of their accomplishment. So glad that places like this exist and highly recommend!

We give 5 stars! Always helpful, friendly, willing to work with our busy schedule and excellent follow through. While my son took his trumpet lessons I was able to take voice lessons during the same time. Our trumpet teacher was amazing and so good for our son. He was thoughtful, positive and encouraging! We feel so lucky to have found the Rochester Academy of Music

My son takes lessons here and I am impressed at his progress. I appreciate the fact that I can remain onsite while he is in his lesson and there is plenty of parking available!

My daughter has been with academy for 3 years. We take piano lessons, Her teacher is very qualified to say the least! She has the highest level of education, she is friendly, patient, very accommodating- we can always make up any missed classes, they have great beautifully organized recitals- many opportunities to perform and also to compete at the festivals..Lots of options in instruments..Free pictures once a year, monthly news, musical ladder system, highly recommend.

My son and daughter have been taking lessons for the past couple of years. Their teacher has been great working with them at their level (both started at age 5). The hours have been convenient and the front staff is courteous. Great experience for us!

Both of my sons love their piano lessons. They are learning a lot and enjoy going every Saturday. They like their teacher Chris and the boys are happy to practice at home to get ready for their lessons. Cathy was very helpful with accommodating our schedule for 2 piano lessons. Im happy that Cathy organizes recitals so that the boys gain experience performing. We are very happy with Rochester Academy of Music!

I enjoy the lessons and appreciate the time that my instructor will take to explain a musical technique or concept that I do not understand.

Thank you to Cameron and the Rochester Academy of Music staff for an amazing 2 years. I can remember the first lesson with Cameron teaching Brandon how to hold the sticks and do basic beats on the pads. Today, Brandon is demonstrating some fantastic drum skills. Cameron has a unique gift in his ability to connect with his students and the staff made the experience so enjoyable.

My girls have been taking violin and piano for almost a year from the academy. They really enjoy their teachers and the twice-yearly recitals. Weve been so pleased with their progress and their continuing enthusiasm to practice and to attend lessons.Since we homeschool, the flexible hours have worked out great for us. Were looking forward to the new make-up lesson group format!If youre new to Rochester, take advantage of the trial lessons offered by the Academy. You wont be disappointed!

Our 17 year old daughter plays clarinet while our 14 year old daughter plays cello. The teachers are very knowledgeable and make music lessons fun, plus the girls are challenged at their own unique pace. Our girls always look forward to their private lesson instruction each week, and that says a lot when they are at the teenage stage! We are grateful to have found Rochester Academy of Music!

Our daughter has been attending the Rochester Academy of Music for flute lessons for over a year now. We are very pleased with the tutoring she has received. We have been very happy with our experience at Rochester Academy of Music. My son started piano when he was 5 with Ms. Rosalie and we have been so happy with his progress (and he really enjoys his lessons). Cathy is wonderfully organized and has accommodated our scheduling needs over the year. I would highly recommend this organization to any family interested in enrolling their school-aged child in music lessons!

We have had our 5 year old son at the Academy for about 7 months and have loved it! He is a typical, squirmy, energetic, active little boy, and we wondered how he would do in piano lessons at his age at the Academy. He has done great and we have loved it. He looks forward to his classes with Ms. Rosalie every week, and he has learned songs to play as well - he even played Jolly Old St Nicholas all by himself for our whole family at the holidays!

My friend was learning voice over here. One of the staff called as Meghan didnt teach well and she approached the front desk to inform that she is going to stop taking classes. She was asked to fill the feedback form and she was asked to keep the feedback form with blank comments and include the signature only.

My son and I have just started taking piano lessons together. It is wonderful having a place like the Academy where persons of such diverse ages yet similar leaning level can come to obtain the same quality of instruction. It is also a blessing to have quality time learning music with my son; it is time well spent! Thank you Academy staff for all you do.

My middle schooler takes lessons from Kathy x 2 years for flute. Cathy is patient, encouraging, and knowledgeable. Rochester Academy of Music has made it easy for her to learn flute. Although Cathy hasnt done miracles in making her practice at home, she has been very encouraging and our daughter enjoys her time each week with Kathy. I love seeing ALL the children in the spring or winter programs: from the wee-little ones to the high schoolers. The Academy and its broad-based teaching staff! is a gift to the community.

Cathy Arhelger has been Sidneys flute and piccolo teacher for many years. Sidney has rapidly progressed through Cathys musical pedagogy and has gained confidence and poise as she performs in recitals and competitions. I think one of the real benefits from taking lessons from Cathy is that she is not just a fantastic teacher but a very accomplished performer as well. Sidney and I are very grateful to have learned about Cathy from a friend years ago. I would highly recommend Cathy and the other instructors at the Rochester Academy of Music.Kristi Clarke
