I was referred to Little Scholars by a friend who had her two children there. I went for an interview with Sandra, the owner, and was absolutely amazed by her knowledge and passion for what she does. At that time I was going through some issues with my daughters preschool and Sandra agreed on seeing me just so I could get her opinion on what I was experiencing with my child and her previous school. My daughter wasnt talking in her school (even after 11 months there, almost 3 years old) and Sandra listened to me, guided me on how to deal with this situation and even went above and beyond, she allowed my daughter to be in one of her classrooms and asked the teacher to initiate conversation while I watched them in a monitor in her office. And after that she went to the classroom and started talking to my daughter (who responded to both, the teacher and Sandra, and engaged in conversation). I couldnt thank Sandra enough for giving me her time, her knowledge and her comfort that day. I left Little Scholars confident that that school has great foundation and management. The owner, Sandra, is spectacular and is present in the school full time. Today I have another friend with her son there and they also love it! Not enough words to describe the attention you get as a parent at Little Scholars. Highly referred. :)

Excellent academically! Also, after Irma, many parents were out of power and Sarasota county schools were closed. The owner opened her doors and provided free lunch/breakfast to all students, as well. Thank you so much!

We are THRILLED to have found and toured Little Scholars Preschool from referral from friends. If I could give more stars, I would. The teachers, and director go above and beyond for these kids.We had toured and attended other schools and nowhere else gave us such peace of mind with quality care, cleanliness, and safety.Quality care. First and foremost, everything is done by the book and up to code. The director would do absolutely anything for the kids, and parent alike. She runs a tight ship with the kids safety and happiness in mind, and I’m thankful for it.The teachers have mostly all been there for extended periods of time and have college degrees, giving parents like me, the peace of mind of job satisfaction and stability for our kids. Qualified individuals watching and teaching our children, rather than essentially babysitters who are there to make a paycheck, speaks volumes to me.(Review based of off 2 y/o room) Each day, my child comes home with “work” that they’ve done that day. Letters, numbers, colors, spelling, signing, songs, crafts.. It’s not all play, which I like. Snacks are provided daily. And they help potty train in the 2 y/o room, which is only effective if you put in the work at home, too. We followed through with their techniques, instruction, and support, and with everyone’s cooperation, she was potty trained at school and home.Cleanliness. The school is spotless, and the teachers and director strive to keep it that way. I have never picked up my child and thought “Wow is that still lunch on her face? Boogers? Dirt?” Never, the time and attention is 100% undivided on the kids. The playground is AstroTurf and they don’t come back with anything more than you’d expect from a little lunch on their shirt, and they absolutely will use the back up outfit you provide in case there is a mess, which isn’t often.Safety. The front door is only ever answered and opened by the director, and cameras are in each room. Parents don’t have access to them, but they are all able to be viewed by the director, and I trust her judgment and actions. Tennis shoes are required to be worn daily with no exceptions, and while it’s not the “cutest” most stylish option, I agree that it is the safest.I could go on and on about this school and what we’ve (all) gotten out of it. If you’re considering preschools in the area, definitely give Sandra a call and check availability and take a tour!*Review based off of 2 year old room, and experience from being in the 1 year old room.

Would highly recommend this school! Not sure where some of these reviews are coming from. Have two kids there, from the one year class through the 3 year class. Could not be more proud of the education/care that is provided.

At first I was sad, my daughter kept loosing her beloved teachers, but then I realized why good teachers kept leaving the school. Ms. Sandra is probably better suited for a different type of occupation. My daughter was in school at Little Scholars for apx. 3 years.

Terrible decision to have our daughter in this day care. She was always getting sick. Owner Ms. Sandra would yell and scream at the kids. I canceled this program the moment I realized my kid was getting abused in this program. Owner wrote a nasty email post leaving. Do NOT use this day care!

Dont work here unless you want to be bullied. Parents dont drop your kids off here! Sandra Wilk will spread rumors and personal info about you and your kid to other parents as a joke! She belittles her employees and is very disrespectful. Shes about as two faced as Hillary and will stab you in the back! Always changing her staff! Mmmm, I wonder why she has a hard time hiring people!

The director is a bully! Undermines parents and kids! Talks about other families in great detail to other families, very unprofessional. Has a high turn over with teachers. States that VPK is for poor people and is a hand out from the government.

*******Do Not Recommend This School*******This should be a 1.0 of 5.0 school on Google and FBI do not even know where to start with this place. If you want you and your child to be demeaned and belittled then this is the place for you!!! My name is Nicholas Radovich and I have had my children( Makayla and Jaxton) at this school for close to 3 years and about 30,000$ to this mean old lady named Sandra Wilk( Gustapo of operations)... Yes, the school is a safe place for your children but the good does not outweigh the bad in this situation. The Gustapo has no problem sharing your personal information with other parents( even embarassing stuff about the parent or their children), makes fun of underpriveledged families that use VPK, yells at your child for being a child( literally made my daughter hide behind my wife on one occasion), accuses and incinuates you of being a bad person ex. I had given her $400 dollars in cash and one of the bills was suposedly fake...so my mom had to pick up the kids that same day and went to pay her with two $50 bills and then proceeded to ask her if she had any smaller bills(as if me and my mom are running some kind of money printing scheme) and then turned out it was just an older bill, she goes through teachers like i have never seen in my life ( and these teachers are great people and are all educated in their profession so im assuming its not them quitting because the kids are to much for them, I mean that is what they went to school for) , the gustapo ( Sandra Wilk) is a power hungry over inflated egotistical cat mom and does not know what it is like to have a sick child, or be up all night with 2 sick kids and a sick wife and then go to work for 14 hours. She lives in her own stagnant bubble and her own little perfect world where she is always 100% right and you as a parent are always 110% wrong. So you pay this lady $450 a week for nothing but headaches, belittleing and demeaning rhetoric said to your face. To be honest im running out of room to give my short list of complaints ( yes my short list) about this place but i assure you this is not the place for you or your children. Save your money and your sanity and pleaaaaaaase go elsewhere. O yeah did i forget to mention they are closed on every non-government holiday and make you pay for a full week even if your child is only in for 2 days but is a full time student. I just plain do not like this place and i wish i could of had my kids elsewhere for the past 3 years

!I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL!The School cycles through teachers a lot.( my daughter had 5 different teachers in one year). The director miss sandra talks openly about other parents and their problems with no respect for privacy. She belittles people and makes accusations. She also refers to other cultures negatively. I was going through financial trouble and was going to reduce the days my daughter went from 5 to 2 days a week and miss sandra said she could help by reducing the weekly fee from $180 to $150 because she insisted that it would not be good for my daughter to only go for two days. When I said the money was still an issue she told me to ask family for the money.( apparently she only cares about the money and not the children education). I told the teacher that i was considering another school and the next day miss sandra kicked my daughter out and accused me of stealing money in front of my daughter , when I never asked her to lower the tuition. I just wanted to reduce the days so that I could afford it. When I spoke with miss sandra she was very rude, yelling that I was on welfare and that she would not refund my tuition for the following week($180) and if I do not like it take her to small claims court. Tuition is paid a week in advance no later than the following Monday. This was a very bad experience for my family. I do not want other family s to experience this, especially in front of your children.

This is a warning to any parent who is thinking of goingto Little Scholars: dont subject yourself to it and find another school. At first glance itseems nice: safe, small, and focus on education. But never in my life (and Imean this) have I met a more difficult person to work with than the director/owner, Sandra. She had always been a bit frantic and dictoral in her leadership style, but one day she took it from just dealing with her to being downrightunprofessional and hurtful. I wont bore you with the details (because franklythere are too many) but after approaching her about why our child was suddenlynot moving up to the next class with his friends (after being assured theprevious week he would be with his name even in the 3 yr roster) I got a 40 minute lecture about potty training and parenting from this woman telling me I was wrong about boys being slower than girls to train and that idea wasnt true, how my child was manipulative because hed wantchocolate after going potty (which was actually her idea and not ours tointroduce chocolate as a reward and what two year isnt going to ask forchocolate if it was being given every time), how we werent participatingparents because we had refused when they wanted to take away his Friday pizzaday and make him eat soup from a can or a sandwich while all his friends gotpizza (which by the way can be considered corporal punishment and under theLicensing Standards 402.305 section 12 is against the law), and we hadnt been working with him (which is completely untrue because even though we didnt think he was ready she insisted he was and so we started potty training him at age 28 months because she insisted and thenshe had the nerve to tell me my son has had the ability to go for a long timenow but that hes stubborn, like its somehow his fault when he has anaccident at still age 2). And oh, by the way, as she told me this my son who wasjust about to turn 3 had only had 3 accidents in the last approx 3 1/2 weeks;that seems quite potty trained to me. After all that insulting was done she finally admitted that she didnt even have enough staff yet for that class and once she could hire another teacher hed move up. It was then that I realized what was really going on, a trend wed seen for the last two years: she cant keep her staff. My one son went through 3 teachers in his one year class (all gone before the school year ended), either fired or they left on their own. My other son kept going through teachers in the infant class every couple of months and several of them hadnt dealt withinfants before and were very young. When she wanted to then have a meeting withboth my husband and I, we emailed her back as professionals do and showed up andthen she said she was too busy then and to come back another day around 10 or12. As working parents of course my husband said politely, I cant do thatSandra, I work and her response was literally well youd think if you lovedyour kids enough youd take the time for something like this. Yes, she saidthat to our faces, while opening the door for other parents. Extremelyunprofessional and hurtful; a real bully. The teachers are stressed thereand the really good ones leave for a better environment and the ones that staycant do anything without her approval. It was always, youll have to talk tomiss Sandra whenever I inquired. For example: why my 8 week old only got halfof his breast milk 2 days in a row and was allowed to sleep for 4 straight hoursthat same day (to which Sandra told me let sleeping babies lie, which is trueat night but not when theyre that small and dont get the nutrition they needwhich is breast milk every two hours). She is frantic and bossy and creates an unhealthy environment for staff and parents. So in closing, with the words of Sandra herself, youdthink if you loved your kids enough... youd stay away from thisdaycare.
