Great cooking classes with Linda. She has so much knowledge and I have learned so much. I have taken many classes from making tamales to fish, from sauces to bread and pasta and ice cream.

My husband and I did the Gourmet Couples cooking class and had such a wonderful experience. Linda was our instructor and she’s an absolute delight. She’s helpful and super knowledgeable. (& really funny!) We’ll definitely be doing it again soon!

Attended a gourmet couples cooking class. The chef was personable and made it really fun. Although you only make one item, it was a nice evening. The food was delicious and the store had some unique items.

Purchased a couples cooking class and my girlfriend came down with covid-like symptoms the morning of the class. I called to see if we could move our class to another time, and was met with a rude, unprofessional explanation that I should find another date to bring. Really? Find another date? And then it was suggested that we come?! After the year we just had attempting to limit the spread of disease and sickness? There should be a better policy in place in the middle of a pandemic, in my humble opinion.

So much fun to cook the dishes with a group of others and then sit down and enjoy the meal. A little pricey for the food you get but I guess you are paying for the experience.

I called this place, asking if I could pay with ESA funds (educational federal funds offered for special needs children) and I felt discriminated by administrator. She even mentioned that she couldn’t understand my accent. Most children - Teen summer programs take ESA funds.

I came to Sweet Basil for a cooking class with Chef Lisa Brisch and it was AMAZING!!! Chef Lisa walks you through each recipe and shows techniques, tools, and tips to make the dish. Then, were off! We each picked a dish to make and Chef Lisa and her assistant helped us each step of the way. Within minutes the aromas filled the air making your stomach growl knowing the deliciousness that awaits! At the end we got to enjoy every dish that we made as a group. I love the hands on aspect and the ability to learn some new techniques. Plus most of the kitchen tools were available right there in the store. It was very fun and absolutely delicious! I would HIGHLY recommend a class with Chef Lisa! You wont be disappointed! In fact, youll feel like an Iron Chef yourself! Look out Bobby Flay! 😁

My husband and I attended a couples cooking class. The store and kitchen were excellent and I would highly recommend visiting both. My opinion is that the recipes were good. The sides were a little heavy on the carbs. I do not believe the chef did a good job of adjusting the cooking times for the quantities being prepared. The tenderloin was undercooked and the custard dessert never set up. The chef was personable and gave some very detailed tips to all of us.

I recently took a 6-Week course that offered classes every Monday. For only 300 dollars, the price was much better compared to other cooking schools. Many reviews say that they gave them a recipe and that they learned nothing, but they’re looking past the experience. Yes, you cook a recipe, but you also learn many tactics along the way, which people don’t acknowledge. In all, this place gave me a fun activity and helped me greatly with an introduction to cooking.

I really respect the owner and generally enjoy supporting local shops. But, I cannot recommend the Grilling with Gusto class.$60 seemed kinda high, but grilling is my favorite way to cook this time of year and expected Id get some great take aways out of it. Unfortunately, as much as I wanted to love it, it was not at all what I had hoped.Rather than learn all sorts of great tips, tricks and grilling secrets we were (a small class of 6) talked through recipes for nearly an hour. Then we were assigned dishes, given the written recipes and followed the recipes mostly on our own... I could have pulled a recipe from a book or online. What I signed up for was professional demonstration and instruction on grilling with an opportunity to practice with a chef supervising. But I spent the class reading the (many many step) recipe I was assigned. Which was entirely in the kitchen. The instructor, while. I doubt doing her best, seemed stressed going from person to person trying to be helpful, but with so many different recipes and stages of prep for each recipe she was spread thin even for a class of 6.Grilling is meant to be an easy, carefree way of cooking... but for some reason the class was more about the convoluted recipes than the act of grilling itself. I sadly didnt walk away with one grilling tip gem. I heard others in the class comment to to each other about the unnecessarily complicated recipes, so I know Im not alone. For example; why spend over an hour making ice cream and a delicate rangetop sauce and then spend only 10 minutes grilling the bananas (that also needed to marinade for hours beforehand?) Show us quick marinades and finishing tricks on the grill, show me other choice fruits, things to avoid, shortcuts, grilling baskets/grates for certain foods, etc... I can buy ice cream and sauce... or make a quick sauce in 5 minutes. All the recipes were similarly flawed in the context of learning about grilling. We want grill time in a grill class. It had potential to be a great class... especially with so few of us.I gave two stars instead of one because I like the shop and sense that perhaps they have classes that are better.

I have been to Sweet Basil numerous times, bringing my daughter from our of town and friends. The classes never disappoint, are festive in mood with unlimited iced tea and an offer for 10 pct off of most merchandise in the store the day of the class. The instructors are patient, entertaining and inspiring. I always want to go home and be a cooking diva! Everyone gets to participate, converse, ask questions and otherwise relax and enjoy the great pleasures of culinary arts from around the works and within different seasons. I have lived all over the world and one reason I am glad to be back in Scottsdale is to be able to sign up for more classes at Sweet Basil! I even had a bridal shower here for one of my daughters friends and it was the best time ever!

They try really hard but the hygiene was severely lacking. Lots of participants making food, not washing their hands, and touching food to be served after handling raw beef. The women that run it are very sweet, but hand washing and general food sanitation are quite lax.

Today I attempted to get some information about cooking classes, so I called and asked if that if there was any chance that they provided free cooking classes. The lady who answered was very rude she told me not to waste her time and didnt give me a chance to ask about any of the payable classes that they do provide and she hung up on me. I called back to ask more questions and she said she knew who i was and then hung up on me for the second time. I will not let this negative jerk discourage me in learning how to cook for my wife. If i could give a zero star rating i would, if this the way they talk to me over the phone i cant imagine the way they would treat people while taking these classes

I bought my wife a class for Mothers Day. She couldnt attend the class so she let them know in a timely manner and was told she could use the credit for a new class or a stoer credit. She went in tonite to use the store credit and was told they had no record of the purchase and denied the credit. I am now going to my credit card company for proof of payment and will give them a chance to make good on it.. If they do not, I will file in small claims court. I realize this may be an over reaction considering the less than $100 amount but having seen a number of other people who have posted similar experiences I feel this is the responsible thing to do. My strong suggestion is to ask yourself if you want to risk dealing with people like this.
