I cant express sufficient incredible things about my Flatiron experience. The teachers and staff at Flatiron are first class and really care about the accomplishment of their understudies. The educational program comprises of 5 mods (Ruby, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, React, and a Final Project). Every mod shows exceptionally significant abilities in the Software Engineering industry. Also, in my pursuit of employment, I discovered numerous chances where my new abilities were regularly in the required or favored abilities segment of sets of responsibilities. Being a Flatiron understudy requires devotion and difficult work, yet I guarantee its totally awesome! Flatiron additionally has adjusted to virtual adapting extraordinarily well and makes a solid local area among accomplices. I created solid associations with my partner mates and have worked with a considerable lot of them on projects post-graduation. Discussing post-graduation, Flatiron offers individualized week after week profession advising that has been important during my pursuit of employment.

I cannot say enough great things about my Flatiron experience. The instructors and staff at Flatiron are top-notch and genuinely care about the success of their students. The curriculum consists of 5 mods (Ruby, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, React, and a Final Project). Each mod teaches very relevant skills in the Software Engineering industry. Moreover, in my job search, I found many opportunities where my new skills were often in the required or preferred skills section of job descriptions. Being a Flatiron student requires dedication and hard work, but I promise it’s absolutely worth it! Flatiron also has adapted to virtual learning exceptionally well and creates a strong community among cohorts. I developed strong connections to my cohort mates and have worked with many of them on projects post-graduation. Speaking of post-graduation, Flatiron offers individualized weekly career counseling that has been invaluable during my job search.

Attending Flatiron School is the best decision Ive ever made. The instructors did a much better job teaching than university CS professors ever did, and they seemed to legitimately care about students in a way universities dont. Probably because Flatiron is actually dependent on you getting a job after graduation. The curriculum is also good, with high quality lessons and exercises, not at all like the horrible materials used in many CS courses. The only warning Id give is be ready to work hard. Your brain will be tired. I got through a college STEM degree putting in about 40% effort, but that will not work at Flatiron. You cover so much material so fast that you cant afford to fall behind. If youre ready for that and they accept you, sign up ASAP. Youll be upper middle class by this time next year.

Attending Flatiron School has been one of the most valuable experiences of my life. The instructors, staff, and coaches are knowledgeable, attentive, and really care about the success of the students. Each module was like being plugged into the Matrix for a few weeks and then waking up like, I know Rails. It takes skill to pull off teaching at this pace with this kind of quality, and Flatiron pulls it off.

I attended the 15 week intensive full time software engineering bootcamp at Flatiron. I was part of the Seattle cohort, but because of Covid-19 the program was conducted entirely online. I thought that would be a drawback but it ended up being great. With no commuting I had more time to dedicate to coding and I was able to fit in a few more to-dos each day, like going for a run or getting an errand done. This program is an amazing way to learn a new skill very quickly. The structure of the program is excellent, and allows for self motivated learning but also provides a lot of much needed direction. I came from the performing arts so I was afraid I would be a fish out of water, but I had no trouble jumping right into the new material. My instructors were truly top tier educators, and really cared about my success. I cant say enough positive things about my experience at Flatiron. I feel it gave me the boost I needed to change my life and launch into a new career with confidence and momentum.

I attended Flatiron back in October 2019 and it was a fantastic experience. The teachers were very knowledgeable and I learned a ton. They really prepared me for my first job in tech. The campus is also very nice and I got to meet and work with a lot of fantastic people.

I graduated from Flatiron Schools software engineering immersive program in December 2020. Due to pandemic the program transitioned from on-campus to remote learning. We had to be on Zoom every day 9 to 6. Our day would start with a group discussion summarizing yesterdays lessons, we would then move on to pair-programming, then there would be a lecture and then we would finish the day with working on labs.I came to the bootcamp with zero programing knowledge and in four months graduated as a full-stack developer totally confident in what Ive learnt. Honestly I was a bit skeptical before Ive started this program, I couldnt understand how one can learn so much in such a short time. But the program is super intense and the curriculum requires you to learn and practice new concepts every single day. Every new skill you are taught comes with its own labs which require you to use the skill until it becomes second nature. I like that Flatiron teaches you not only specific languages and frameworks, but they teach you how to learn, which is a great skill to have in life in general and certainly an important skill for a software developer.A word about instructors; the instructors we had were top-notch, super knowledgeable and helpful, and could explain complex, unfamiliar technical concepts in a way which anyone could understand. Our instructors were super supportive and they motivated us to keep going. The schools support does not end at graduation. Everyone is assigned a career coach who supports you for next 6 months and helps you during your job search.

December of 2019, as a 22 year old with a bachelors in Audio Production, I decided I need a change of career after struggling to find career opportunities and working full time as a bartender. January of 2020 I started Flatiron’s free intro to Software engineering course and really enjoyed it and found it challenging. April of 2020 I lost my job due to the pandemic, and began Flatirons 15 week course (which was virtual due to the pandemic). I worked 50-60 hours per week, doing a bit of extra practice outside of the curriculum. I finished at the end of July. I spent the following 2 months working 40-50 hours per week on my job search, practicing for interviews, and studying. I applied to over 200 jobs. At the beginning of October, after a 2-3 week application process, I accepted an incredible offer to join J.P. Morgan as an entry level Software Engineer on the other side of the country (currently remote for the time being). I have never been so happy and proud in my life.A few things I want to share: What I thought I wanted, imagined, and expected for myself, ended up being very different by the time I finished the course. By that I really mean, I became much more interested in a wide arrange of paths and opportunities, where in the beginning, part of me thought ‘I’ll do this course and get hired at a major tech company here in Seattle, no problem’. That was far from the truth, but I am very very happy with how things worked out. I am making above Flatiron’s reported average salary for graduates and working for a company that is very stable and has room for growth, I couldn’t ask for more.I am very happy I specifically picked Flatiron. Here’s why: I know I could’ve saved money by self teaching, but I would have had virtually no support structure or accountability, and it would have taken me so much longer to reach this point. Flatirons curriculum is fantastic. Also, if I went to get another bachelors in CS instead, I’d have more debt and would be in college for another year and a half at least. A huge point is that every job I applied to that I was competitive for, including the job I ultimately got, was sent to me by a Flatiron career advisor, so it’s possible I wouldn’t have this job if I went with any other bootcamp. Their post graduate services are great.Lastly, I’ll make 2 points. Flatiron isn’t perfect. Every week we get surveys to fill out and I always had constructive criticisms to report. That being said, throughout the course you could recognize changes being made to address some of those criticisms, and I have to cut them slack for the pandemic. Lastly, Flatiron is not a magic bullet, no boot camp is. You can not simply show up for 15 weeks and get a job. I could be on my job hunt for months longer if this job fell through, and I put in dozens likely even hundreds of hours outside of the Flatiron curriculum studying additional material, because no course can cover everything in a matter of 3 months. I am confident a lot of the things I studied since Flatiron, I’d still have to study even if I got my bachelors. That being said, I am so thankful I picked Flatiron. It was a great course with a great staff and fantastic support systems. Attending Flatiron is easily one of the best choices I have ever made in my life. It is entirely up to the student to make the most of it though.

I tried to email questions to the school and got responses back in more than 24 hours. I looked into coding dojo in bellevue and they responded back in less than an hour. Also I set up a zoom meeting. Waited on there for 20 mins waiting for the host to start the meeting. Never showed...

Flatiron creates phenomenal programmers. I graduated from Flatiron in May of 2019 from their Immersive software developers program. I can barely put into words how great the experience I had was. Flatiron staff exude positivity and do their best to show that they are there for you every step of the way.Flatirons curriculum was designed artfully to step you through using technologies building upon what youve learned previously. They emphasize conceptual understanding over rote memorization so that once you graduate you can easily learn other languages to broaden your horizons professionally (personally I learned C# after graduating and have used Java in the workplace). From my experience at Flatiron my wife also decided to pursue software development but due to COVID has had to go through Flatirons online course. I will say that from seeing her work schedule it is just as great as the in-person course that I went through so I would highly recommend it if the campus is still closed when you are reading this.
