We had voiced concerns with the school. It was supposed to be an A school. They kept saying it’s fine it’s just COVID. Then at the end of the year they say the kids need extra help. I expect this means summer school. No, it meant next year they would look at extra groups during school. We looked around and heard good things about Kumon from a private school we went to look at. We’ve only been going a couple months and already they are both doing leaps and bounds better. The staff at Kumon has been amazing since day one! We will definitely be long term members.

Im 28 now... I was in this program 7 years starting at age 6/7, and it made me hate math and really it was the reason back when I was in college I was unwilling to major in anything math related. They turn math into a horrible experience. If you get a problem wrong instead of showing you how to fix it they send you back to your seat with the packet. Even if youre close to tears because its been several attempts at the problem and you literally just dont know how and youre stuck there until you answer it correctly. Thats not tutoring. Also I was never behind in math to begin with and I dont really know what the point exactly was even at this age, I cannot say Im necessarily better at math than any other adult. Its completely different than learning math at school where you get help if you dont know rather than basically being kind of punished for not knowing. I feel like it caters to parents that push too hard... why would you want your kid to hate math?

Both of our children attend the reading program here. Avantis commitment to learning is excellent. Were very happy to be here. Parents who are dedicated to the requirements will enjoy success! Weve seen very good progress in both kids. Thank you Kumon! We are very happy.
