This is the place to learn tai chi. Tom is a great teacher. He understands the complexity of tai chi and can explain all aspects of tai chi clearly to his students. His greatest attribute for me is his patience . As one of the older students in the class ,he encourages me to go farther than i think i can go but always with safety. He holds classes outside on weekends and there is plenty of room to do tai chi. Looking to challenge yourself, this is it.

Since I began attending Toms classes about a year ago Tai Chi has gradually become a bigger priority for me. This is mainly because of Toms amazing gift for imparting information, for breaking the movements down into comprehensible and meaningful segments, and for effectively conveying the non-verbal in words that anyone can understand. Another big factor is the group that Tom attracts to his classes. Its a diverse bunch that is supportive, fun, welcoming and kind--all words that describe Tom himself and his teaching style. I cant recommend highly enough.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Tom is an extraordinary teacher. He is motivating, patient and clear in his instruction. His ability to teach a class with students at different levels is amazing. He has a great personality and I look forward to class every week, even after a hard day at work.

Tom is an excellent teacher; friendly, patient, and very knowledgeable, with an incredible eye for picking out the points where youre doing well or need more work. The style he teaches is more involved than is usually seen, but well worth it, even if youre a beginner to Tai Chi or martial arts in general. He also teaches the martial and practical self-defense sides of the art, 100% worth it!

I have been going to Toms class for over a year now and it is more than I expected it to be. He teaches an older version of Yang style taiji. The martial and self healing side (lower back, leg, foot pain for me). Its very different from what I am used to but I like the challenge and enjoy the work I put in it. It is now a part of my daily routine and am happy to have made that decision to go to his class that very first time.

Master Tom is an exceptional teacher, both in terms of his knowledge of Tai Chi and other martial arts, but also in the way he cares about the progress of each of his students. The form he teaches is complex and will take students a while to memorize and to understand the details of, but I love the challenge and the atmosphere. Definitely five stars from me!

Halcyon Tai Chi has always provided some of the best methods of teaching a martial art. The instructions are explained so we can understand the thought process behind the movement and the application in self defense. The program has helped with many aspects of daily life, including increased balance and strength, serenity and an overall feeling of well being. Tai Chi gives a great overall workout.

Tom Mazzaferro has so much knowledge to share...and with his vast teaching experience he will challenge you mentally and physically. The long form is exactly that...long...and intricately complicated. Tom has a way making each class interesting by taking you through sections of the form and mixing in the martial arts. Before you know it...two years have gone by and you are better for it...

Life enhancing movement taught by an exceptional instructor. Some sports, exercise or other activities are useful in one way or another, but the Halcyon Tai Chi class encompasses intentional, meditative, physical and psychological challenge that I find fun and inspiration. And this IS martial arts so includes striking, blocking and kicking for self-defense. Tom, the instructor, cares greatly about his students, provides videos, written information and offers an additional weekend class now and then to bolster your practice.I am in my 50s with aches to prove it and I was insecure about attending, but turns out I am capable and am feeling benefits. The 1st month is free and after that the monthly cost for one class per week is $50, whereas I am taking 8 classes at $80 per month. Obviously, I love it!

I am a beginner student of senior years at Halcyon Tai Chi where Ive been going for about 10 months. I started classes for health reasons due to lower back pain and numbness in one leg. Both symptoms are long gone. I credit Toms extensive knowledge and relaxed teaching style. Tom teaches both sides of the Tai Chi art - health and martial (self-defense). He also puts on free, occasional Saturday workshops to focus on particular Tai Chi forms. Anyone interested in Tai Chi would be lucky to have him as their teacher.

Tom stresses the foundations of Tai Chi practice; complicated postures are broken down into digestible parts. The martial aspect of each posture, not just the fa-jing movements are explained and practiced.
