Incredibly energetic and welcoming teachers! The studio is about more than a sport, the kids are learning language, songs, games, value of friendships, importance of perseverance. We are lucky to have found Hanabi Judo during the pandemic - thank you for engaging and inspiring my kid!

There are so many things we love about Hanabi. The Senseis know well how to engage the young ones, keep them focused, disciplined, yet have fun at the same time. The older ones are taught to look after the younger children, help them, and engage with them in a fun and caring way. There is a real sense of community, and care here, where everyone seems to carry a sense of pride and place. I see the older children excelling in their Judo practice, and really taking pride in the art.I would and do highly recommend Hanabi to anyone interested in trying out Judo for their children or for themselves.

I started Judo 8 years ago at age 41 after participating as a child for a year or two way back when. Its been a great way to stay in shape. Dan Augustine and family provide a great environment for adults and kids. I have made progress physically and mentally from Judo. Instructors from around the world , great Judo family , what more could a person ask for . Very thankful for Hanabi Judo .

My son is four years old and is full of energy. I appreciate their ability to redirect his energy, as well as allow him to release it.It’s nice to have instructors who work well with toddlers who have a tough time listening and following directions. My son is learning so much from his instructors, he’s listening more, using his fine motor skills and they keep it fun and playful.

Hanabi Judo is known throughout the Bay Area as the premier school to study Judo. With three generations of Judo champions, the Augustines have refined their blueprint on how to develop Judo skills quickly and effectively.Sensei Dan Augustine has developed many champions over the years. As a U.S. Senior National Champion and an alternate to the U.S. Olympic Team, Sensei Augustine teaches from experience. His father, Sensei Mel Augustine, was also a National Judo Champion, and a U.S. Judo Coach. And of course, both his sons are Judo Champions.Sensei Augustine only selects the most qualified instructors to teach with him, and gives each instructor extensive training on the Augustine Blueprint. When he is done, there is consistency in training that equates to fast learning, reduced risk of injury, and most of all, fun.Personally, I studyed Judo from when I was ten years old, up until I was twenty-seven. It was at that point I stopped to focuse on my new family. Twenty-five years later, at ageFifty-two, I happened to walk by Hanabi Judo and looked into the window. Sensei Augustine saw me, and invited me to join....well, actually, it was more like a long cane appeared from his door way, grabbed me around my neck, and pulled me inside the dojo. Sensei Augustine told me I needed to get back in the game...and I did. Under his tutelage, I won a silver medal at the U.S. Nationals in 2014, and have improved my Judo Immensely. Now, at sixty years old, I am in the best shape of my life, and I compete better then ever before.I strongly recommend Hanabi Judo to anyone who wants to experience the wonderful benefits of Judo. There is no better way to develop discipline in your child, or in yourself. It is a fun, family oriented activite that gives a lifetime of benefits.
