This school is absolutely horrible. My little cousin that is only in 3rd grade was left outside under a tree after he got badly injured by a kid in a different grade. teachers didn’t do nothing. traffic is an absolute mess! what an absolute disgusting place where teachers can’t handle what is going on.

My daughter is in 3rd grade here and now that the administration has settled down this school year (they transitioned through 3 teachers for my daughter), I found that she is learning a lot. I hope that the school will adjust to the large group of students that they have to provide a better teacher/student ratio. She is learning a lot and I love how diverse the school is!

I have a 1st and 3rd grader in this school both started here in kinder. We are in the French village and have had an amazing experience. My 3rd grader speaks understands, reads, and writes fluently o. French with no prior exposure to the language. The teachers make my children and I feel welcomed and make sure to communicate consistently.

We had an increasingly BAD experience at another campus. I thank God everyday that I took my child out. He is now thriving again.I registered in May they still didnt have the paperwork or assign him a morning classroom for August. My son was learning his language as soon as I knew he would be attending this school. My son is exceptionally smart and they could NOT see it. (Classified as gifted, skipped a year -may skip again) @GVA however his teacher flippantly told me they were discussing holding him back on day TWO!I was told by his teacher they dont start Any kind actual schoolwork for about three weeks!!!Not all language teachers are Bilingual, they struggle to speak to me yet expect the students to have prior knowledge and fluency.Started language tutoring afterschool as a way to Charge and Blame parents for students being behind. The language issue is an epidemic. They need a new structure. There is obligatory volunteering for the parents. Seem to have no records, and favoritism to volunteering so they can Charge at the end o f the year.My son was NOT given bandages and was left bloody for the remainder of the day.My son was falling asleep at school so his teacher had the bright idea to kick him out into the hallway. Where he fell asleep, again so she sent him to the nurse. He called with accusatory questions, asking me when and what I feed my kid when I put him to bed. Told me we are going to start a file. I pulled my kid out immediately. Took him home and quickly discovered a 101.4 fever🤒! They never bothered to check!!! My husband requested a meeting with the principal and was denied. They spoke over the phone where she backed up or denied All prior incidents and didnt apologize. Then tried to insinuate we couldnt remove our son until we have our kid registered elsewhere. We already did😎Please do yourself and your children a favor and dont put kids through unnecessary hell. My son brought up another incident that happened there. Were still horrified at the quality and lack of care this Institution. There is so much wrong with this school! He was only there for about a week!!!!!🤤😖👹☠💩

My son has been going here since kindergarten. He was diagnosed with ADHD in the first grade and I can honestly say that he has had one teacher that made an effort to teach him in a way that worked for him. My son is often singled out and called a liar. They have chalked him up to being a bad kid and in my opinion have given up on trying to accommodate him and his learning disabilities. I am in the process of finding him another school that will invest in him as an individual.

Ive tried to get my son outRate and reviewof the school all year but its the only school in our area that is not full. The school is fairly new but poorly maintained. The teachers ive come across have done a wonderful job so far (West Campus) but the staff does not follow proper protocol according to their own handbook. I was blown off twice by the office administration and was once told they were not able to help me as there computers were off for the day. Im so disappointed in this school from almost every aspect its hard to fathom. If you can go somewhere else - DO! This is in regards to the WEST CAMPUS only.

Our daughter attended this school for three years and learned a lot from the language teachers. Unfortunately the English teachers were inadequate at best, especially in 2nd grade. The organizational skills of the administration were poor, which resulted chaos and confusion. The diversity of the student body was encouraging. The concept of the school was great but the overall execution of this academic concept was lacking.

Learning a second language versus failing all other classes......NO BENEFIT for almost 4 years now! No help (instruction/tutorials) for the preferred programs used on how to navigate or use the tools such as Echo where you can see your childs grades, homework and communicate with teachers. Im not computer literate and this has been hard for me in order to get help so I can in turn help my child. I get all these e-mails everyday and cant navigate it. Teachers dont stay long and come and go like a revolving door. No stability. My child has failed Math and English for years and is just pushed along to the next grade. The next years teacher has no idea about what the previous teachers curriculum was or why the child may be failing because again they dont stay long. In most schools a where the teachers have been there for years and years the school/teachers know what was taught in that particular class and again can go to that teacher to discuss the particular student but not at GVA. Dropping off/picking up kids in both campus has been the ultimate MONSTER. It was just the one school (East campus) at first but a second (West campus) now built has made it even worse. No thru street and the school cant figure out the best engineering for the route or the process. It can take up to 30 minutes to get in and out of the lots. Im afraid Ive made a huge mistake keeping my child here and now Ive got to hire tutors and put her in a school where she is far behind other students and try to help her catch up and all for her to learn a second language. NO THANKS

Updated review 3/22/19If u want to know your child is safe do not enroll them into the upper grades (4th-8th) they are crumbling as administration fires the teachers whom are actually trying to teach real life things. (Math shortcuts, spelling tests,Black History Month, 9-11) GVA DIDN’T WANT ANY OF IT TO BE IN THE CURRICULUM........-Plus not disciplining the “uneducated”-(as the word I really want to say isn’t appropriate) acting parents that show up and barge into the school causing a scene in front of the school. The east campus has no problems but west campus is sad and really disappointing .********Old REVIEW*******My daughter is being taught the way I wish the entire world was taught from an early age. She frequently says the school pledge over the intercom.I will honor different ways of being, acting and believing, even when I dont agree with them.I will treat others the way I like to be treated.Outside of GVA my daughter is in the world as it is today with every person being the same regardless of any differencesIm proud to say IM A PROUD GVA PARENT!!!!

My daughter attends this school (now 2yrs.) and I would say there is room for improvement. I personally enjoy that my daughter is in and enjoys the Spanish program. She is leaning, speaking AND can speak it outside of school. I did think to change her to Chinese but was informed that it shlould be done by 1st grade as it is a harder language to pick up after that. Now as I read the reviews, the one inparticular about the Chinese program getting better and more funding is VERY DISTURBING! As each programs should get equal...maybe it is because the Spanish program is the most popular of all the programs (as I over heard personnel saying)? In any case, Im curious even more for the answer to that.. will inquire abt it.I would say it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to stay ON TOP of what your child is doing and their homework as the kids have a heafty load (with homework for 2 languages) and if there is no attention to it, it will show. Stay INVOLVED WITH THE SCHOOL. Ive learned the more they see you there the better BUT I will NOT be a front desk sitters/standers ** I recommend they have the parents whom come early and sit/stand in the door way/front lobby area congesting the front lobby traffic even more to CLEAR THE AREA!! 👀 no offense **I am concerned about the volunteer hours that is required (30 per family or maybe parent..not sure). There is not a lot of this being done thus causing the school to lack in some areas that we could help in...(i.e., events, help in classes, lunchroom, etc). To my understanding and Ive heard it in many a welcome speeches..Lol...parents help is needed at this school (but we not all have the time..concern). I hear the PARKER location is on another level..as in better...WHY?! 😕Do we not have same level of fortitude, commitment, and passion for our location..YES. We do!I also have a concern (HUGE) concern about (what they are already aware of)..traffic..Its bad. There is a certain time to be n the head of it, after that, doomed 2B on time😉I would also recommmend the teachers have assistance. Some of the classes I volunteer with....whew! I LOVE KIDS (JA volunteer since 2012, Youth Minister & Mother) 😇but some of the children are...well, you know your child..& it takes up time to get that child str8 from being disruptive so they can continue teaching the class..everyone looses 😥 Again.. Parents help is needed and the teachers need an assistant.I would like to see MORE SMILES AT THE FRONT DESK😀 SINTIA CANT GIVE EVERYONE A GREETING AND SMILE WHEN THERE ARE 5 OTHER PERSONNEL STANDING THERE!!Front desk personnel is the FIRST FACE WE SEE...IF IT IS A GRUMPY DAY FOR U..PLZ SMILE ANYWAY OR LEAVE FRONT DESK...Customer Service 101.In the mornings IF your going to greet..as many kids/parents should be greeted as possible..NOT JUST THE ONES KNOWN OR LIKED...& PLEASE MORE EYE CONTACT 👀👀it is RUDE to speak to someone and not look them in the eyes but look down or away (you missed the entire question being asked to you as you provided a reply that had nothing to do with the question). NOT Customer Service or Front Desk Service.Overall, as I become more involved and aware, Im certain more positive changes will come to past. So many already have: Ms Bea is now @West campus...and they have a new playground. Most all teachers (Ive come n contact with) are gr8!Positive Attitudes Makes Positive Changes ;-) We Are The EXAMPLE..AND the VILLAGE!! Be Blessed!!

Ok so I went here for 6 years and I have to say academically this school is awesome, but when it comes to equality, organization, respect, or basically any other quality gva sucks. (note that this is for older students in aurora west) This was my last year attending this school I thought it would be a pretty fun experience, but it wasnt. the principal cancelled everything due to behavioral issues which I understood but then again we were promised at least 1 field trip at the end of the year. the principal (ms.black) is absolutely the worst person to be in charge of aurora west. she twice this year called us pathetic because a few people forgot the date on there paper. she also has a very rude vibe about her she always negative and harsh. she doesnt give off the impression that we mean a lot to her. I was told multiple times by other staff members that she would have conversations about me to them because I told her how I felt about the school. not only that but the school still owes me $36 dollars from a fundraiser. I was promised to get half of what I sale for spending money on a out of state trip. im not even going to bring up the incident from a few years back dealing with racism and minor abuse. the only thing they do is keep adding schools when the other isnt finished. we dont have a gym a playground, lockers, working wifi half the time only 6 computers in each class but only about 4 or under work properly, and we dont have enough lunch seats for each student you have to pull up a chair. overall this school is great for learning and thats the only reason I stayed there was for the great teachers
