Working with Rob was pretty fun, I would definitely recommend him to another brand new rider wanting their M endorsement. I went in with literally 0 experience and he was kind to everybody and helpful. He worked with me when I was overwhelming myself which I appreciated a lot. My entire class passed, and he wanted us to all pass. Great school

This course & the instructor is top notch. All the reviews about Rob bein a great & funny dude are the real deal. Im gonna describe my experience, and warn about some potential mishaps:6 of 8 people passed, but of the two people who didnt pass, I will explain:-The Texas heat is brutal, an extremely sweet old lady was perfectly capable of learning the exercises, but she had to throw in the towel because of the heat. If you intend to take summer classes, know this coming in.-The other person who didnt pass right away put too much pressure on their front brake during the skills test. This caused a fall, which is an instant fail on the test. Rob knew the rider wasnt a bad rider, they simply made a mistake. Rob offered to let them retake the physical skills test with another class, and the rider took Robs offer. They want you to pass, but they will hold you back if you are unsafe or if you make a catastrophic mistake on the skills test. They are reasonable people, so if you prove yourself in the course and make mistakes on the test that fail you, there will most likely be a compromise for a do over. Since Im so sure that rider that made a small mistake will pass the 2nd attempt, Id say 7 of 8 of us passed, with the only one not passing tapping out due to the heat.TL:DR-Rob is amazing, funny, and truly talented-The heat is brutal: bring sunscreen & water-Try your best and relax your nerves at the test. If the coach believes in you, and he believes you have the makings of a good rider, hell try his best to make you reach your potential. The photo attached is our graduating class photo! Good luck to any new or experienced riders taking this course, it was great!P.S. Just got my bike! All thanks to this course I wasnt worried at all getting it.

My instructor for the Beginners Course was Robert (Rob). Let me start off by saying that this class is no joke, it is challenging, not because of the course material, but because riding is hard. You will need to bring your A game, they teach so much in a short time. The first day of my class I did struggle with the bike I was assigned. And without a word, he came to me the second day to switch out bikes so that I could have more success. He also did not leave another rider out to dry, because he went to one of the better riders, asked if he was willing to switch, and he was excellent on that bike after taking a test drive. Rob was also very considerate about safety. We went through numerous scenarios and reminders on safe driving. He followed the book to a tee, even though you could tell he already knew it word by word. That is a sign of a professional. He didnt cut corners or act bored. It is not easy to teach newbies on simple concepts when you are an expert. My only word of advice to improve your training is to carefully pick the season. I am very happy they host classes in July, that was the only time I had to do it, but be warned, it is Texas after all.

Great experience from start to finish. Our instructor Rob did a fantastic job of explaining the basics to our group of absolute beginners. Was a super nice guy and we could tell he really cared. Like after my class passed he took more time to explain common hazards in Austin like tar strips and metal sheets in construction zones.I was on the fence going to Austin Moto Academy because it was hard to get a classroom spot. However the experience was well worth having to wait.

Just finished and passed our 2 day course at Austin Moto Academy. Vince was awesome! I ask a lot of questions and he was happy to answer each and every one of them. I had never rode a motorcycle before this and left feeling confident about my beginner skills. Vince has lots of positive reinforcement and gives everyone the attention they need. He’s very knowledgeable and helpful. You are given a good variety and sizes of bikes to ride depending on what you’re interested in or comfortable with. And the course does a great job of starting with baby steps and gradually increasing / building on the exercises before. Before you know it you’ll be riding confidently. Went in for the two day BRC with Bryce as my instructor and it was AMAZING. I came in with very limited experience, all of my previous biking experience being on dirt bikes as a kid and early teens, and maneuvering a bigger bike was quite intimidating at first, but Bryce made it easy to understand and his confidence in his students gave me the confidence to complete the course and PASS!He is very patient and although I felt as though I was slowing the class down, he assured me that I was making beginner mistakes and that it was no big deal and thats why the course existed. (to teach us how to use the bikes) Bryce was also sure to thoroughly walk us through each exercise before starting, and even went as far as to demonstrate on one of the bikes, as well!I was put on a honda grom for the first day and was doing okay, but on the second day, he had us switch bikes and had me on a bike he called little pony (not sure its actual model) and I struggled a lot with that one. When I expressed to him that I wanted to switch back to the grom, he let me do so as soon as the exercise ended and never pushed me to go outside of my comfort zone as to which bike I want to ride.I had quite a bit of trouble remembering to roll on the throttle before releasing the clutch to get into the friction zone, but despite making the same mistake the entire first day, Bryce was patient and helpful the entire time. The second day as soon as I was back on the grom, i started to do much better than the previous day, and only stalled a few times in comparison to the every-other-startup on the first!Im sure that the only reason I passed the class was because of how good of an instructor Bryce is- definitely recommend!

Even as someone whos ridden a moped for years before moving to Texas, learning to ride bikes with AMA was surprisingly fun. Wasnt expecting to learn so much from just 2 days of riding in a parking lot and classroom instruction, but Bryce kept things interesting in both portions by offering a lot of relevant experience as well as great advice during the riding portions. Getting to try out the variety of bikes on day 2 was eye-opening and I really want a Grom now.2 points of advice for people considering taking the classes:1. Bring plenty of ice water (and check the forecast to bring rain gear) during the summer classes. Enough water is provided, but youre going to be constantly sipping to keep cool because youre wearing heavy clothing, at low speed, in a parking lot, in Texas, in the middle of summer.2. (COVID-19 crisis related) The wait times for the DMV are like, 2 months at this point. Make an appointment online at least a month before your course is scheduled.

Truly an outstanding group of instructors. I dont know how they can do this training day in and day out and maintain the professionalism they do. They teach by the book and reinforce the book with real world training. The training is long but required. If you want your endorsement this is where you want to go. They tell you dont be late, and that means dont be late. Nobody wants to wait for you. We had one show up 30 minutes late to the first class and he was given the boot. Bryce and Vince are both dedicated to your success. Everyone passed, and we had multiple people who had never ridden a motorcycle. This school doesnt make its money doing retests like the other school in Austin. They teach you right the first time. The motorcycles are well adjusted so the throttles and clutches are smooth and reliable. The bikes almost drive themselves. Thank you guys!

I often hesitate signing up for any adult instruction (for example, Im trying to improve my freestyle swimming technique but find most adult swimming instructors to be indifferent and subpar), but that was not the case with Austin Moto Academy. My class had individuals ranging from all age groups and different levels of understanding (e.g. some had never touched a manual transmission, a motorcycle/scooter), yet everyone was really up to speed after demonstrations. Awesome totally worth your investment even if you dont plan on buying a bike anytime soon. It was fun and having the M endorsement on your license for that time you might need it is priceless. You really should know how to drive a stick shift car before going. It isnt necessary but those that didnt know how struggled. But they did end up learning how to ride they just wish they had that skill before the course. I rode a dual sport during class and helped me see that I had more options other than just a sport bike and that small cc bikes are fun for beginners as you gain skills.
