Last month, we stopped in to explore e-bikes. Although we told Mark that we live about 9 hours away from Austin, he was generous to share his time and expertise with us. It was refreshing to sense his honesty and goodwill. They carry an excellent selection of bikes and I would heartily recommend their business.

Mark and Audrey are great to work with. They are extremely knowledgeable and will provide outstanding service. We bought an Urban Arrow Family and Gazelle electric bike from them and we could not have been more happy with the experience. They still email months later to check up on our bikes and to let us know that there was an upgrade for one of the bikes that they can take care of for us in the shop. If you are in the market for an electric bike and would like more education or are just looking to ride one out of the door, I would not go anywhere else. Fantastic people and a fantastic shop.

I want to make clear that the rating is only of my experience and not the business as a whole. My experience I think is atypical, and I think normal experiences with the business are probably more satisfactory for others.Long review:Several years ago, they listed a used scooter online that I wanted to buy. I went to their store and found that it was actually not ready to be driven and needed much repair. I was still eager and decided to buy it anyway, and I thought the owners pleasant. My first mistake was probably committing to buying an unfinished product. I think they also could have been clearer in their listing. Some time later, after what I imagine to be dedicated work, the scooter was finished, and I picked it up. It died on me as I was driving home. This was the first of a few battery failures. I also learned that the scooter would not have the specs from the online listing I saw, which was probably just the specs from the original manufacturer. They decided to buy a fresh battery after concluding that the current battery was unusable. At this point they had probably looked at the scooter for quite a bit now and this expense was probably unexpected for them, which I mention to acknowledge that they did do work figuring out the situation. However, up to this point, I thought this work to be somewhat obligatory; otherwise they sold me a lemon. After that, the scooter ran much better, but there were just other problems that I wasnt expecting. The rear bar broke, for example, due to the previous owners alterations. In the end, the scooter wasnt really what I thought I was going to get, so I decided to bring it back to them to put on consignment. Its up to this point that I still would have given them four or five stars, as my interactions were still mostly pleasant despite what had happened.I hastily signed a consignment contract with them. For about two years, there was no communication. To be fair to them, I didnt reach out either. When I finally did call them, I found that they did sell the scooter despite not telling me. The reason they didnt reach out was that repairs apparently had to be done on the scooter, and those costs outweighed what I would have received from the sale. One, they probably should have told me anyway. Two, I was never asked if I was fine with the repairs. Three, I was surprised to learn that there were any issues at all--I thought I had left a working scooter, one that they personally had a large, almost entire, hand in getting into working order, not long before consignment.Unfortunately, there was a clause in the contract that was written vaguely enough such that I could have been held responsible for repairs even without notice or approval. I decided not to fight this. I wish they would have instead said that they couldnt accept the scooter for consignment in its current condition and gave me the option to take it back. (Still would have been surprising given all the work they had put into it in the first place)They did offer a small amount to me after I called them, but I declined it. They had sold the scooter for nearly the same price as I had bought it, and what they offered did not mean much, even as a conciliatory gesture. In their defense: they spent many man-hours on the scooter, they incurred an unexpected expense on their part (for a new battery), they did what they were (probably) allowed to do within their terms of consignment, and they did offer me some money, however paltry. Besides that last money offer, I ended up putting a scooter on consignment with a business and got...nothing--and without any notification. Considering that I even bought the scooter from them to begin with, its hard to not see this as them getting paid twice for a scooter, regardless of what labor they put into it. I, on the other hand, spent thousands of dollars to end up with nothing. I would have given them one star, but because they still seem like good people if not always good business people, and they probably do satisfactory work outside of my experience, I leave two.

If I could give six stars, I would. I wasnt sure I was going to find an electric bicycle that would work for me, because Im 68 tall. I bought a Gazelle Arroyo, as it was the bike that felt best to me. Mark and Audrey were amazing at helping me choose the model and size, and I cant be more happy with what I ended up with. Ive taken the bike back there for a few tweaks, and the service has been amazing. It had been a few decades since Id ridden a bike, and I would have been lost without Electric Avenue. I had a great experience working with Mark & Audrey at Electric Avenue. Theyre extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of e-bikes. They have a really broad selection of quality e-bikes. Previously, I had only been looking at e-bikes from the traditional bike manufacturers such as Trek, Specialized, Raleigh, etc, but Electric Avenue offers a lot of different options from companies that have been in the business a long time. I strongly recommend anyone whos curious about getting into e-bikes to start your journey at Electric Avenue.

Our gas guzzling (99mpg--but not electric unfortunately!) Honda Metropolitan had been in storage for 5 years. Electric Ave was amazing in bringing it back to life. Even when we had a mishap on fully running correctly the first go round, Mark and Audrey were always very patient in explaining the work to be done and making everything right, even personally delivering our scooter on the final drop off. This shop has inexperienced tech workers and charge arm and leg for service! Dont come here for brake job or anything related to maintenance. I paid $180 for a Tube swap that takes 30 minutes at most to complete. They took 2 hours plus to swap the tube. Bad business model imo. Karma will come back and bite you. Based on the other negatives review responses from the owners, Im not surprised to hear that this is not what happened. Save it for the next one!

The service was great, our couchrider Jeremy was outstanding, he was patient, made sure we understood each maneuver, explained everything in details, and was always smiling and helping us understand how to make each maneuver right. My wife was a first time rider, and by the end of the class, she was riding with confidence because of Jeremy. He even took a step further, and got an ice box to make sure that we can keep our water cooled and made sure we are well hydrated. the owner came as well to check that everything was good. If you are looking for a family time and want to learn how to ride, I cant recommend this place enough. Thanks JEREMY for all your help and support and patients.

I got my electric bike about 6 months ago. I love it. I can ride from the Triangle area to downtown in 15 or 20 minutes at a leisurely pace. I can park near any destination. The best part is riding home, its steadily uphill all the way, but with a bit of boost its like riding across a level parking lot. Easily 5 stars for the bike. The only reason the store doesnt get all 5 stars is that there is not a lot of support items for sale. Its not the place to get helmets, or locks, or water bottles, or tshirts or what not. They sell the bikes and scooters and they are very good at that. You just have to go to another bike shop for accessories.

The owners and employees at Electric Avenue have always treated me well. Mark, especially, has gone above and beyond to help me out with bike and random non bike stuff. In one instance, he was so generous with his time and expertise that I promised him stroopwafels, which for me is a big thing since I dont know how to cook anything. As soon as I figure out how to cook without giving people food-borne illnesses, Im going to deliver him a few batches of these treats. I drove from Houston to look at ebikes here recently. The owners were friendly, knowledgeable, and, especially, patient. They spent a couple of hours with me, encouraging me to ride all their bikes, and Mark showed me how to adjust the gears on an internally-geared hub. In the end, I bought the bike that was at the top of my shortlist, based on reviews. It was a pleasant experience. Mark knows his science fiction, too.

I am very unhappy with their customer service, and storage fees at Electric Avenue Scooters. The repair quote to fix the brakes was high enough that I questioned the logic of having the full extent of Marks repair recommendations done, because the value of our scooter didn’t justify the expense. Therefore, I asked Mark very specifically to apply ½ an hour of additional labor into making best efforts to clean the parts, and I clearly told him I would take a chance on whatever the outcome was. Unfortunately, he put 1 ½ hours into the work. I specially asked him to do a ½ hour because I wanted to minimize additional charges beyond the deposit. I did not see the wisdom in putting 1 ½ hours based on his original diagnosis. Again, I clearly told Mark I would take my chances on whatever the outcome was. The 1 ½ hours appears to have been a total waste of money and time. He and Audrey should not have charged me for the extra hour, and to add insult to the situation, as I tried to express my dissatisfaction, storage fees were “gently” brought into the conversation and added to my bill. In my opinion this was a very poor representation of customer service so we picked up out scooter in a disassembled state. I prefer to give my money to a company that is willing to take responsibilities for the decisions they make.

I went there with a functional e-bike for a small repair and after a month I was given back scrap pieces left on the sidewalk.Aside from that, as far as I checked, the store offers:- Customer service with attitude- A fleet of new overpriced e-bikes and scooters- A longer fleet of overpriced e-bikes waiting to be repaired in solitude for an indefinite amount of timeIf you want more details please read the following description. My electric bicycle had a minor issue with the throttle as sometimes it would not respond when I was trying to speed up. I decided to take it to Electric Avenue Scooters to find out what was the problem and fix it. I was asked to pay an $80 deposit fee for the bicycle inspection and the diagnosis of the problem. The technician explained that this fee would potentially cover the repair cost if the issue was not significant. We agreed that I would be contacted within three business days to be given an estimate of the repair cost and authorize further work if needed. Otherwise, I was told that I would be able to pick up my bicycle after the inspection.A week went by without receiving any calls from the store so I decided to contact them to find out what was the bikes problem. To my surprise, I was told that nobody from the staff had given a look at it yet and they would call back within another two or three business days. I spent one more week waiting patiently, but again there was no call. When I contacted them to check if there was any progress the store manager started making some guesses about potential causes of the problem. However, I was not provided with a diagnosis and an estimate of the repair cost. It seems that my bicycle was not inspected at all at that time.In a later communication it was explained to me that the bikes controller would have to be replaced. After an unsuccessful endeavor from my end to find a spare part from the seller and speed up the process, I was told that they would look it up and call me back. At that point I still had no estimate of the repair costs. After ten days of waiting I decided to call them again. Eventually, the repair cost estimate was too high. When I rejected the offer, the store manager tried to overcharge me with fees that I had never been informed of and I had never agreed to pay. We agreed that I would pick up the bicycle at the same day to avoid any storage costs. When I went into the store my bicycle was presented to me dismantled and I was waiting for the technician to reassemble it so that I could leave. As I was waiting the store manager characterized my e-bike as garbage. She then vigorously grabbed its parts and moved them out of the store, leaving me and the technician gazing at her heroic act. While she was laughing for her achievement, I explained that this is unacceptable and I would have to report her. As you can see in the photo, I was left with a dismantled vehicle that I cannot ride and I do not know if it is working at all.I consider Electric Avenue Scooters liable for all the expenses associated with transporting and re-assembling my electric bicycle. I reserve my right to pursue further legal action and I will be expecting a refund of its original retail price in the case it is not functioning as it did before bringing it to that store.EDIT: After bringing my bike back home, I detected and resolved the issue myself in less than 15. No problems noticed since then. Being an engineer, I can say that no reverse engineering or custom re-engineering had to be employed. I also understand your struggle to use technical terms to justify your incompetence and tardiness. As mentioned above, the incident had to be reported, since you refused to provide me a service that I had already paid for (i.e. bike diagnosis and reassembly). I was informed that this was not your first interaction with the police. The officers had to account for your false and defamatory premises and provided both parties with options to file charges. However, I admire your imagination in fabricating how they applauded your generosity.

I have had two electric scooters. In both cases they were good scooters, But my dealings with electric Avenue had been confusing at best. That cute little couple that runs The place are peculiar at best and dishonest at worst. They have their own way of doing things and well tell you about their procedures (which is a code word for charges) after-the-fact.In one case they actually sold a scooter on consignment for me without bothering to see whether I would except the price! I felt like it was(for the record I would have rejected it)In another case there guy took my keys from me. And two days later is said if I did not come over to pick up my scooter they would dispose of it.The bottom line is this. You are buying a rather expensive item from these people. Perhaps Im flaky or perhaps they are flaky. But you cannot get that expensive items serviced by anybody else in town. Buyer beware.Update: The problem was no a lack of wanting to do the paperwork. The problem was a changed deal when i showed up with the bike to do the paperwork. The employee took the bike and the next day they said they needed to charge me for an assessment and storage. None of this was mentioned when I dropped the keys off/ they accepted the keys. The part that cased me to question the ethics of the place was when I was told come get it now (24 hours after I dropped it off) or we will dispose of it. Hard to do when on a business trip in Chicago...

I chose Electric Avenue Scooters to take my MSF Basic course. I am so glad I did. I went in to talk to them, and they were kind and friendly, and I signed up for a class in 3 weeks. I was stressed out about learning, but I pushed myself despite coming down with bronchitis right after signing up. The class started, and I was immediately impressed with the instructor, Choon. He was professional, friendly and made everyone comfortable. When we started out on the range, he made sure we were comfortable with our choice of motorcycle or scooter. He began slowly, and eased everyone into their comfort level. Each exercise pushed us a little further, we were coached in areas we needed to work on, and encouraged throughout. By the time we reached the test at the end, we all did well and passed. My stress level was high at the start, as Id taken the class several years ago from someone who shouldnt have been teaching dogs, let alone people. I would recommend this experience to anyone who feels the slightest trepidation about riding. Im definitely ready to get on my Ridley and continue practicing the skills I learned. To start off with I would like to say I have been into the e-bike world for a few years now. I own multiple bikes and 3 e-bikes. Im the kind of person who like to be educated before I make a purchase. Mark, Audrey, and Sarah are very personable and are eager to help with all my questions. When I did ask a very technical question about the Bosch Motor, Mark put me in touch with the Magura Representative (Jude) who was able to answer my questions to my satisfaction. I have visited Electric Avenue for a few years now and have always felt welcome and greeted by name. I have always been impressed with the quality of their products and wealth of information. They truly seem to enjoy what they do and it shows in the level of customer service they provide. Now about my bike. I LOVE MY BIKE! I bought the 2017 FatSix 6.0 Haibike with the 500 watt hour battery, and have loved every second of it. The FatSix goes anywhere (everywhere) with a level of comfort you would expect in a bike of this caliber. The FatSix is an awesome product. Ive owned my FatSix for 19 days and have put 501 miles on it. Ive ridden in every terrain imaginable; from grass, concrete, dirt road, greenbelt, etc. Also in all weather conditions. My family and I try very hard to be car free and ride our bikes everyday. My FatSix is not only for recreation, but it is also my everyday commuter. Ive been so impressed with Haibikes level of quality in all areas of the bike. From the tires, to the brakes, derailed, and frame there is a level of quality and craftsmanship that can be seen in their finished product. I cant begin to express my satisfaction with my FatSix. I ride everyday and everywhere with a smile on my face and cant wait to go on a ride!! With a bike of this quality you enjoy getting up everyday and getting on the bike. I really enjoy riding my bike and the Haibikes FatSix has made it even more enjoyable!I want to say THANK YOU to Mark, Audrey, Sarah, and Haibike for starting me on this new adventure. They have made the process so enjoyable and will definitely be referring everyone to Electric Avenue Scooters for all e-bike needs.Christopher Ian Groesbeck

One of the most miserable customer service experiences I have ever had. I found Electric Avenue because my wife and I were looking for someone in town who services Ezip electric bikes. They do. I called to ask if they had a rear wheel/rim. Mine was bent due to an accident. I had already found the specific rim we needed online – I just thought I could save the time and shipping if I could find it in town. They (Electric Ave) told me the Ezip did not take a special rim – that any mountain bike rim would work and to just bring the bike by and they would replace it. We dropped off the bike on a Thursday. By the following Wednesday we still had not heard back so I called. They had not even looked at the bike and were actually surprised that we wanted it back so soon. Really!?!? (My wife rode it to work every day, weather permitting.) They said they would look at it the following day. It turns out that it needed a special rim after all and they would have to order it. How on earth do they not know that the Ezip takes a special rear wheel/rim? That was two weeks ago. They finally called back to say it was ready. Yay! I took my lunch hour to go pick it up. But when I got there the rear wheel was flat. They asked if I could come back in an hour while they fixed it. No. I had to get back to work. I do not live or work in that area. Wasted trip. And the final cost of the repair was almost double what they quoted on the phone. It was actually more than I spent on the whole bike to start with.Throughout the whole process the thing that really got me was just the sense that no one cared. The store is decent, as is their line of scooters. But dealing with them was like dealing with kids who might know a thing or two about bikes and decided to open a store, but have no clue about customer service or dealing with people.Based on most the other reviews I seem to be in the minority - and I hope so for the sake of their business. But for myself I will not be using them for anything again.
