I learned here throughout my elementary school years, including summer camps, after school, and even school holidays and I cannot express the gratitude that I have for Mr. Johnson, Ms. English, Mr. and Mrs. Davis, and all the others along the way and how they have shaped me into who I am today. I never felt annoyed or inconvenienced to come to class, and it was like a secondary home for me. Alas when middle school rolled around, the work and the distance made it very hard to continue. I stopped after I achieved my goal of obtaining first degree, level two black belt. I am now writing this as a rising sophomore in the class of 2024, I have a job, a place in this world. And while those memories may be long in the past, this was my first place I could truly be myself and Ive implemented their teachings of Honor, Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, Courage, Community, Strength, Humility, And Knowledge into my everyday life. I have had the pleasure of training with Senior Master Johnson a few times in my martial arts career. The only thing keeping us from training more often together is a 1000 mile journey from Phoenix to Austin. What an incredible and passionate instructor! His enthusiasm is always elevated and Im sure diffuses down to the other amazing instructors. You will find no better than Taekwondo Plus!

Enrolled our son during the summer time and he loves it. It has helped with his discipline, his manners, and his confidence. It also has given him something else to do except play video games all day. My son cant wait for class and loves showing off his new belts and stripes when he earns them. Mr. Johnson, Ms. English, Mr. & Mrs. Davis are fantastic instructors. All really care about the students both children and adults. I have confidence knowing my kids are learning in a safe environment. My older son has being off campus PE credit for AISD and my younger son has been learning confidence, skills and greatly improved his balance and coordination. I world recommend this place to anyone. Perfect for children and adults. They offer Taekwondo, yoga and Brazilian Jujitsu. There truly is something for everyone at a reasonable cost.

Mr. Johnson and all the instructors are wonderful! My 6 year old & 16 year old are learning so much and love going to class. My husband has joined them now and made it a family event. I love seeing my boys grow in strength & maturity and it is all due to the nuturing and strong leadership. The class times are very convenient and the after school program and camps are fun for the kids and helpful for the parents. We are proud to be part of this Taekwondo family.

We love this place. The instructors are positive and teach kids both technical skills as well as life skills. Classes are small enough for individual instruction and group activities. I have seen my shy uncoordinated preschooler blossom and demonstrate self control and leadership. Birthday parties are a blast here as well.

Taekwondo Plus is great! Weve found it to be a very welcoming community, and a great fit for our family. Our four girls are so excited about what theyre learning that my husband and I are giving it a try, too! Fun and exercise for the whole crew, all in one spot - sweet.

My son has been with Taekwondo Plus for I believe at least two years now. The instructors there do a really great job in teaching the students about taekwondo, as well as about life, responsibility, respect, etc. Ive seen real growth in my son as hes been a student there including improved focus and perseverance. When it comes to Human Beings, there are none better than the Johnsons. I have known them 20 years and both Toni and Richard are extraordinary role models. Our 7 year old daughter started in October. I had previously signed her up for basketball, soccer, gymnastics, cheer, and dance. She never really clicked with any of those sports. We were a little apprehensive about trying out yet another sport, but after her first class with Mr. Johnson, she was hooked! All the instructors are so knowledgeable and welcoming. Each has their own way of teaching which allows students to receive the information in various ways. They are all very patient and caring with the students no matter the belt level.In addition to learning taekwondo, my daughter is also learning how to be a better person. It is refreshing to see character education built into the daily classes. She has learned to apply this knowledge to her everyday life.It’s nice to see my daughter excited about going to class. She can’t wait for each class and talks about it well after it ends.

I trained at this location for quite a few years and know many of the instructors well. They are hard working and dedicated, they want to see students be successful in martial arts.After moving out of state I am now a full time martial arts instructor, I credit my career to the team at South Austin TaeKwonDo Plus.

Have had the pleasure of training under Master Johnson a couple times in my taekwondo career. Hes been nice enough to travel to Phoenix Arizona a couple times to teach seminars at our academy. I have a child and a teenager taking lessons at this TKD center and have had for over 2 years. I am extremely pleased with the level of instruction given to my children. When my sons joined Taekwondo Plus they announced they would someday earn their black belts. This past spring, five years later, they did just that. Some students achieve this goal sooner, others later. My sons did so at their pace, not the schools, and thats one of the reasons I have enjoyed sending them to Mr. Johnsons school. They have never been rushed through the process, or made to feel bad about a lack of progress. On the contrary, they have been supported and guided along every step of the way by the qualified, caring instructors.Along the way they were consistently and constantly reminded of the tenets of taekwondo, the same tenets my wife and I live our lives by. These tenets, such as, honesty, integrity and self-control, are so important in a young persons development. To see these being taught just as often as a form, non-contact skill or board breaking technique gives me confidence that Mr. Johnson is interested in developing the total person.

Our son, Miles, enjoys going to Tae Kwon Do classes, especially Saturday mornings with Mr. Davis. Miles has one of the biggest smiles of the week after leaving Mr. Davis class.Miles started attending South Austin TKD this past summer during summer camp and is now a level one green belt. We have been attending this martial arts school for nine years. We love the staff and the friendly atmosphere. My children were encouraged to participate, never left feeling like they couldnt achieve their goals if they worked and asked for help. They have learned to defend themselves, but more importantly they are told over and over if they are in a situation that becomes dangerous, the best plan is one that allows you to escape, not just fight.The yoga program is great too. When health issues forced me to stop Tae Kwon Do, I moved to the yoga program. The instructors there are also great, I never knew I could sweat so much by doing stretches. Some of the classes are very light-hearted and laughter is the norm, with lots of friendly support from the rest of the class.

Tae Kwon Do Plus has been wonderful for my son. I decided to sign him up when he was 5 years old because he was very shy and was bullied by other boys a lot. I thought Tae Kwon Do would be helpful and indeed it proved to be just that. He quickly gained the skills he needed to defend himself without fighting and he also gained a lot of self confidence. Hes 14 years old now and has never had a problem with bullies again. The instructors are fantastic. They instill discipline and integrity into their students. I highly recommend it!

The Instructors are fantastic! Miss English, Mr. Manasco, Mr. and Mrs. Davis and Mr. Perio display a great variety of teaching styles to suit anyones tastes. If you want real martial arts training this is the place for you! My kids have been training in Taekwondo and Jiujitsu at the Brodie location for several years and they love it!
