As a parent a founding parent at that I am very disenchanted with Democracy Prep. I truly feel they have fallen into the trap that most of the school in Baton Rouge and other rural areas do. They have become complacent, they are not in my opinion living up to the promises they made to me and my child. In the beginning when they first started out that commitment to excellence contract that we all signed meant something, now it is not worth the paper it is printed on. You have educators targeting students because they cant intimidate them or break their spirits.The new thing is dropping your child off in the morning your child cant be dropped off before 8:30 well most working class parents have to be at work well be for that time. Their retort is we have buses to pick them up well I dont want my child to ride the bus and should not be penalized because of it. What happen to your open door policy, why cant you open the campus like you did in the first place.But you can call me to make sure my child is coming to school so that you dont miss out on your money right. Cause you all get a little extra based on that head count right.I was told there is no one to watch them. Im not talking about 5/6 year olds Im talking about middle school kids 12/13 they shouldnt need babysitters. Oh they dont have anyone to watch them because they have meetings every morning on what cause the school at this point is subpar from where this program started. So if your not here for the betterment of the children what is your real point.I will be taking my child out of this school after this trimester finals. Its sad because if they would have stayed there course Democracy Prep could have really made an impact on the lives of the children in the community they service. But instead they lowered their standards and became a product of their environment...
