I am a complete beginner and have been going for about a month and its been nothing outside of great. If youre interested in learning a new skill or understanding yourself more, this is the place for you. You get a week worth of ALL classes completely FREE; guided by experienced trainers making sure that youre practicing safe techniques and that you go home injury free.Ive noticed that Vortex is an incredibly diverse gym which takes you in no matter what shape, age, sex, or background you are. Belts are not given out, you will be challenged and expected to stay engaged as you are turned into a well developed human being. Mick(owner/trainer) is always there and notices the effort put in and how you treat people around you. Your positive attitude and work will be rewarded if you stay persistent and try.If youre interested in being a part of an unforgettable community, trying to get into a healthier shape, be able to defend yourself, or just make Joe Rogan proud, come use up your free week.

I started training at Vortex Martial Arts Gym a little over six years ago. As an older person starting my martial arts journey it wasnt easy but my coach Mick Williams showed great patience. He is one of the most knowledgeable Martial artists in the region. He is one of the best teachers I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. He pushes everyone to be a better Martial artist and he is genuinely interested in how we are doing away from the gym. I love the diverse group I get to train with. They welcome everyone here.

What an incredible group of people. I trained in Muay Thai at Vortex for four months while living in Bloomington temporarily. The coaches are professional, extremely knowledgeable, and friendly. Every single person at this gym was an absolute pleasure to work with. I cant wait to train with them again the next time Im in town.

In town for work for the week. I asked if I could come for a class or two. They welcomed me into their gym with open arms. Nice guys and gals, technical and detail focused. We rolled no gi and it was a great workout. Wish I had more time to roll again before my next assignment. Thanks again!

Mick was my first jiujitsu teacher and his warmth and enthusiasm set me at ease from day one, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of martial arts. I cant recommend Vortex enough, whether your goal is competition, self-defense, fitness, or just fun.

Vortex is where I first began my BJJ training, and I believe this is the place to go in Bloomington if you want friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate instructors. Even though Ive moved away, I make an effort every time I come into town to stop in and train.Highly recommend!
