We have three kids that attend this program. The teachers and office staff are always professional and hardworking. Its a worthy investment for your child as they learn so much more than just music. The culture is positive and the environment is an ideal place to see your child develop skills that will last a lifetime.

If you are looking for a great music school in which your kids can grow with, from preschooling age to teenage years, you’ve found it! EVYMS has introduced both of my kids to the wonderful world of music in which they’re still learning and enjoying the wonder of music. While at times, hard work is required, fun time is sure to follow.

We have two kids attending EVYMS for more than 5 years. Music like any art is a journey. Expect parents commitment when the kids are young. I have seen lot of kids joining at a very young age and progressing very well as they grow. We are glad to be part of Ms. Heidi’s family. She has an excellent team of staff and teachers. She herself has been teaching for more than 30 years. Some of her students have become excellent teachers today at EYMS. I strongly recommend EVYMS to all music lovers.

Our daughter has been attending East Valley Yamaha Music School for over four years - since she was five years old. In that time we watched her go from an eager beginner to a confident intermediate-advanced piano player.Instruction puts a lot of emphasis on listening to and identifying nodes/chords, as well as composition. The students have a lot of fun and really enjoy the experiences they have here. There are plenty of chances to perform in front of an audience, both solo and as part of a group. The staff also offers private lessons which helps with individual skill development for more advanced students. The staff has always been very flexible with make-up classes and private lesson scheduling. Most of all, they genuinely care about the part they play in the childrens development. Highly recommended!

We love East Valley Yamaha. I attended Yamaha as a child 43 years ago, and currently have my 5 year old son enrolled. Miss Heidi is wonderful not only in her music instruction, but also with nurturing each child as an individual in order to make them feel comfortable, safe, and confident. We started very early with a music appreciation class, and now, he is already playing with two hands! We are very pleased with their program, and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a warm and loving environment for their child to establish a firm musical foundation!

I am actually disappointed by some of the negative reviews here with no truth to their claims. EVYMS is fantastic place for kids to learn music. Ms Heidi is awesome and so are other teachers. They have extensive background in music and lot of experience. Their students have represented at international level and many have gone to pursue music at Julliard. My daughter has been going there for over a year. Parents need to understand that if you are serious about learning piano, it is a commitment for both student well as parent. This is not a place for kids to play but learn and make piano part of their life. Every kids gets individual attention even in a class of 10-12 kids. Each kid has a piano in each class. The pace of course is appropriate for everyone to learn. If it is too fast, kids will not learn and get frustrated. They should be able to enjoy music.Anyways, EVYMS is one of the best if not the best piano school in Arizona and I am proud to send my daughter there now and hopefully for next many years to come.

Im biased because this is my mothers school but at the same time I know more about it than just about anybody. The students here consistently win nation and international competitions often that involve tens of thousands of other entries. I mean this happens every year... every single year with multiple competitions. All of the teachers are insanely well qualified. There are also master teachers flown in from around the world to work with the students. If you are interested in a very well rounded musicianship course for your child I would encourage you to come to one of the free introduction lessons on a Saturday. Generally they have one of the older students (9-16 years old) improvise on the spot or play a piece that they composed. It will blow you away 🙂

My 5 year old son has been going to Yahama Music School since the last 6 months and has developed good sense of music and rhythm. The Christmas recital was an amazing platform for the kids to perform in public with extraordinary confidence. The parent kid model of learning has helped me and my son have a bond learning together. Its an amazing place to start learning music.

I am giving one because I have. I would give zero. Just make sure you know you have a 6 months contract. If you for any reason can not attend the classroom any more, they will offer you to start a new class, if your schedule can not attend them schedule, they will ask you to attend a new class and do all the 3 months you already did again as it is the online time they have that you can attend. If they say the contract will not hold you, don’t trust. They said that in the Open house and when I told them I could not attend any more, they sent me by email a message saying “don’t forget you have a 6 month contract”. I will pay for 3 months with out attend class until my contract is done. I gave them 3 months notice just to make sure they will not charge one more day after 6 months contract. Very stressful and sad! My son is 5 years old and need some adult to attend class with him. I am the only one able to do that. I am still paying monthly and nobody contacted me.

Writing this review on behalf of several parents whom I meet every week at this school. Very disappointed to see quality of learning going down at the same time fees are going up year over year. Besides normal fees, they charge outrageous amounts for concert and exam fees. Imagine plight of parent with 2 or 3 kids. Do we need to take loan for pursuing kids hobbies? I am told that number of kids in the class is more than number of pianos in the class. How do you expect quality teaching? Fees per month >$100. Pace of teaching is always catered to the slowest learning student, so if your child is fast learner then he is stuck and so are you paying fees month after month and year after year. Center head is Mrs. Heidi who is always coming up with ways to extract money from parents be it in the form of concert fees, photos, camps, etc. Class duration on paper is 60 mins but she enters class 15 to 30 mins after the hour keeping parents are students waiting during every class. Student to teacher ratio is very high (12 to 15 kids per class) to be able to provide adequate attention and quality learning. Parents are given video most of the time and asked to work at home with kids. Teachers make parents buy expensive dresses and shoes for kids for 5 min yearly performance. School has more focus on adding new students and families and do not attend to the needs of existing kids. Several parents want to move out but not able to find same style of teaching outside since Yamaha has unique style of reading. If you are new parent considering to join then think twice!!

EVYMS is a great way to start your childs music education! Most teachers there are very experienced and make learning enjoyable. Group lessons bring the social aspect to music, which makes it a great alternative to private lessons (btw, they offer private lessons at higher levels at Yamaha). I also love that the students have multiple opportunities to perform, both as a group and solo. My son has been a Yamaha student for 2,5 years and he loves his teacher, Ms. Heidi. I highly recommend giving Yamaha a try!

Excellent music education for kids. The soulfege (sing while you play) method is very useful to recognize notes. Ms Hiedi the owner is a great teacher and is very gentle with little kids. These folks make music fun for kids which is more important for the little ones. Highly recommended if you are looking for piano and music lessons in the valley!!

My son has been learning Yamaha for 2 years now. Here is my feedback about school.POSITIVES : - Class duration of 1 hour if used wisely is just right for most of the kids. Liked the concept of ear training that is emphasized at Yamaha.NEGATIVES:-1. Allocated time is not used wisely- Actual teaching in 1 hour class may be 5-10 mins. The teaching progresses at extremely slow pace. Many kids are capable of learning much more which is not taken into consideration. New material is not taught in every class which is not challenging for a student who has learnt previous teaching.2. Rude teachers - They have fake faces most of the time but they do not hesitate to insult parents infront of other children or other parents. They think their time is more important than parents time. Teachers are not available to talk 99% of time. They are not flexible to offer alternatives as per parents schedule.3. Class size is too big- 10-12 kids per class is a lot for one teacher to handle and to make sure they are learning. Kids are at different level of age, maturity and have different capabilities which reduces effectiveness of learning for good learners. If class size goes down then classes are combined which hinders the pace and impacts existing kids.4. Charity at parents expense? Yamaha is creating charity during Christmas time by taking money from parents- do not agree to that. It cannot be made compulsory. Too much class time is spent playing over same songs again and again. Too much repetition takes away interest. Spring recital is mandatory for all and costs a fortune for the parents.Does not feel good use of our money anyway when you can get private tutor for the cost you pay at Yamaha for group lessons.
