This is not what it was when I first went back in 2012 when the lady that looks like Lisa Paige was working the front desk! The new lady thats working the front desk (the heavy set light skin lady) she has no clue. The students are unprofessional and they all was just sitting around sizing each other up. It was awful! The whole environment was hostel. Going there in 2012 abled body and then going there disabled using a wheelchair, I could tell the difference (discrimination is real). It was rough, the ramp outside the door is poorly made. The lady that lined my hair was disgustingly Rude and kept insulting me up until I left. I wont be back though. And this is why colored businesses fail. Until we value ourselves then no one will.

Some of the most unprofessional student working environments Ive ever experienced. Bernard and a few others you give a chance to just to have low class swrvice and makes you regret tipping as if the quality of service is one comparable to a real barbershop. Your students beed communication skills training on top of the barber skills or lack of.

I’ve been bringing my kids here for about a year now. I’m a biological, foster and adoptive dad. One day the clerk and I got to talking and she realized these weren’t my birth children. She had compassion on our family and gave my kids free cuts. On this particular day money was really tight and I’m not sure if I mentioned that or not, but it was a huge blessing. The barbers are patient with my boys, who. An sometimes be rambunctious. I’ll be coming here for quite some time. They know us now, and I am glad I can bring my kids to a shop where there is no profanity or inappropriate images displayed. It’s very profession, yet still has that comfortable, southside barbershop feel.

I think larry has done agreat job with his staff which transfers to his students but you also larry was a barber and a man of god

79th is very unprofessional. The instructor only does even cuts on old people, and can’t taper. I came to this place, and was impressed by the campus by was immediately disillusioned by the unprofessionalism, and the academic environment. Instructors are easily lead into unfounded conversations that are filled with sports, religion, politics, ad hominems, and disrepect. This place is for people who have been cutting hair for years who don’t have a liscense because a lot of the students cut hair way better than the instructors. If you can read a book you can pass the test. Your instructors are a mediocre barber, and a woman’s hairstylist. I learned more from watching YouTube than I did at this place. I wondered why the instructors would hate on YouTube, and I see why. They don’t teach a modern style of cutting. They teach the state liscense test. It has the potential to be the best college in Chicago if it had the right personal, but as of now it’s a total, and complete waste of money, and time. It’s a disappointment

I called and ask are they open and are they taking customers they told me yes. That they Closed at 4p.m. I got there at 1 and then they told me that they are sorry and cant help me.

I came in for a shave and a goatee the student barber that I was place with was great. I could tell that he was confident when it came to using the clippers but was unconfident when it came to using the straight razor. I was happy to see that the student wasnt to proud to ask for help not only from his teachers but from other student barbers as well. This could have gone bad but it didnt. I left proud of my shave and goatee and my wife loves my new look. As a teacher I take pride in seeing students learn a skill and perfecting their craft. Thanks and I will be back.

My children will NEVER EVER get their hair cut here again! They mess up your hair more than anything! They should really teach their students that if u dont know how to cut a certain style, u dont touch and mess up people hair. Get clarification first! My son had been growing his hair the last year and they jacked it up, totally, and had to cut it!!! A taper and a box are 2 totally different styles! I know that and Im not a barber! They take pictures Monday and now I need 2 take them elsewhere and pay, again, to fix their hair cuts! No discount was offered and a tip was still left! However, I will NEVER EVER go back, no matter how much I have 2 travel!!!

The front desk associates are very warm and friendly ALWAYS. The student barbers are another story. They show no respect for children in the building and they use an obscene amount of profanity. The instructors hear them and still never address it. When you as the client address it its always a problem. I know not everyone is a Christian, but I thought this school was founded on and operated on mutual respect. There is conversations about who smashed, what girl, what prison / jail is and or was like and all matter of things. Larrys must do better.

I went to Larrys Barber College for the Master Barber Educators program. I had a great experience and we were prepared for the State Board exam. I took it and passed it on the first try. Great school.

Been going there for years. 2 years ago date picked up a new location. Mondays two or three Dollar Cuts. Some of the barbers this in class already been cutting for years and have the experience.

I am a little upset. Bc I am here in Chicago for a wedding. I drove past this particular place and they have advertised on their windows that they do color and perms and services they dont provide. Not happy. Wasted my time. And people are not friendly in chicago. At all. None of them. No matter where you go.

I have been taking my boys here for awhile because its affordable. Today the barber put a gash in my sons eyebrow and didnt have the decency to say anything. Very unprofessional . Thank God I was there. Im not a barber but, your eyebrows are a distance from your hairline.

Would love to attend unfortunately the night classes start too early, perhaps if they could start a class at 5pm this may increase the enrollment, until then Ill keep checking to see when or if they may ever change the start time.. Ive heard nothing but great things about this particular barber college and I would love to become a part of the journey

Horrible I went in to get information about starting school there & the staff just didnt have any motivation. The guy at the front desk gave me a flyer & basically said everything thing I need to know is in the flyer. I wouldnt even give them one star if I didnt have to just to post my review. On my way out I stopped & talked with a few students I saw standing outside. They said the same thing about the staff that they have attitudes & are very lazy. One of the students gave me a tour of the school & told me how things will go if I decided to attend. Im a veteran who wanted to use my military benefits to attend but after going there & seeing how unprofessional they are thats ok!!
