Went in looking for a straw brush. The csr at the front had no idea what isle to recommend (not familiar with the store). No luck, not sure if they carry the item or I wax just not able to find it.

I walked in with a normal-sized backpack and was immediately asked to check it in order to browse. No maam - not giving you my valuable personals in exchange for the privilege of browsing your bargain-basement sundries. Obviously I wont be returning.

I usual write good reviews on the places I go too but this location and didnt not like at all and I love shopping at family dollars stores I go here only once in awhile and everytime I go I dont like the workers arent that nice there they dont have great things but they are sloppy over there sorry but this is how I feel about this place

Family Dollar is what it is...youre saving your family a dollar! No frills, or thrills. At times the aisles are congested with merchandise. Other times, the price on the shelf is different from the price I end up paying. Be sure to double check the merchandise next to the shelves to spare yourself from an embarrassing moment at the register.Despite the previously mentioned inconveniences, I frequent this store multiple times a week. Why? Its not about the store being hyper-organized or because the shelves are so well groomed that price tags dont get confused. I return over and over again because (1) it is conveniently located next to my Pink Line train station, (2) I literally do pay a dollar less for an energy drink compared to the gas station across the street and (3) the staff is friendly and helpful beyond the call of duty. The employees at this store genuinely have fun working together. Especially the evening crew. There is no perfect job, but I believe that the people whom one works with can really make or break the climate in the workplace. Any customer will be able to quickly sense this chemistry shortly after just walking through a couple of aisles. They would hear employees greeting incoming customers and playfully chatting with us neighborhood regulars. I recommend this Family Dollar on West 18th Street & Paulina Avenue in Pilsen for these 3 important reasons.Most importantly, the general manager, Debra, is worth her wait in gold when it comes to hospitality. Much of this friendly, guest-oriented atmosphere is a reflection of her own hospitable spirit and empowering management-style. Be sure to say hello to Debra. Positively reinforce her igniting hospitality by telling her you read a flattering review about her on Google. Debora is more than a GM. While the title is impressive, she is also a pillar of the community, a mentor to her staff and a charismatic Latina whom embraces us local customers as family. Shes professionally helpful and personally a blessing beyond any scales ability to measure. This past November, I learned that she ordered a catered meal for her stores staff to enjoy after closing time so that she could remind them of how grateful she is for their loyalty. The gathering was not a direct order past down from corporate nor did any budget exist to pay for the morale building Thanksgiving dinner. Debra planned, executed and paid on her own. This is my Family Dollar. The new African-American assistant manager ( male) requires additional training. I recently was there and stood with my bags( you are required to check in your bags) as he was working behind the counter. The cashier was checking out clients ... I then placed my heavy bags on counter and with another three minutes he still ignored me. When I asked for his assistance, he yelled at the cashier ( she is always gracious) and I said no I will leave on counter because those bags were too heavy for her. As I was shopping, the head manager ( nice Latin woman) asked me was I ok? I expressed my concern and she stated that she would address him immediately.I have contacted Family Dollar HQ. This Assistant Manager needs support.

Great customer service, easy to find items.

The staff is very friendly. Theyre super nice. My only issue is that the store is always a mess. Boxes everywhere. If they ever get it together Ill probably come back and give them a 5 star.

They have the cutest toys here. This is not your typical toy store. Come here for something extra special :)

I like Family Dollar its not a bad storm stop there a couple times a month.

For the past 9 years this store has been a mess. The employees cannot keep up with stocking. Theres always boxes on the aisles which is a safety hazard. Im surprised there hasnt been a lawsuit with someone getting hurt. Boxes can fall on you or you can just simply trip. In addition, I cant even get to items I need because of the boxes. Secondly, I started to notice rats running around which is disgusting. Those boxes are basically providing homes for these rats. Family Dollar should hire my cat and leave it in their store overnight to fix the rat issue. This location is the worst. To conclude, Im surprised I havent came across a rude employee.

They do the best at being safe at this time and keeping others safe as well. My only complaint is not enough disinfectant supplies.

Just walked in to make a small purchase and all three of the employees I saw were wearing their masks under their noses, thereby providing no protection to customers at all!

I used to love this family dollar. The past few months that I have gone there it has been awful. There are boxes everywhere that have not been unloaded. You cannot even shop without dodging boxes that should have been stocked. Really sad to see.

This is a good place to get all your daily needs stuff. I love this store and they have all things stocked up well.

This family dollar on 18th & Paulina has expanded and grown over the last few years. I really love the management that is at this store. Always have what I need and greet there customers with so much love.

There are days when you walk in,the music is blasting,not on one but two radios they place in the store. I commented on it and i was totally ignored!I couldnt hear the cashier as there was one as loud as it could be right next to her so i screamed at her how muchi honestly could not hear her from 3 feet away.I told her it was too loud,she told me ,well ,the lyrics arent bad. It wasnt the first time either! The manager loves music,shes always singing so...we have to hear it too! Not professional at all . That store needs a do over and quick ! Ive lived in this neighborhood for almost 40 yrs and support our stores. There should never be one you feel uncomfortable in.Just very uncomfortable and also unkept.

Nice selection of stuff, but too much overstock everywhere, when it is busy it could be hard to get around.

I use to love this place always had what i needed at excellent price i was a regular customer till today had the worst experience whit what i supose and think is the manager skinny kinda tall bald guy i was doing my shooping like any other day picked up the items i came to get was browing around and my daugther had chosen a littel stuffed animal a kitten that she wanted me to buy her i went to go pay i asked my daugther if she stil wanted the kitten she said no so i just put it back the manager seen my daugther had the littel stuffed kitten i procced to check out i paid my stuffed but put the littel stuffedd kitten back as i left the store he came after me ones i was out the store to ask me that were was the littel kitten that if i had purchase it n i said no that i put it back because my daugther didnt wanted it no more. He procced to go back in the store i went back in n told him why did he do that i found that very offensive that he. Had thougth i had stole it or something he should not b doing things like that to customers assumeing things that are not im very offended by that n would never b going back to that place they need to fire him asap thats just not rigth im going to talk to some one so they see what type of people they got working there!!!!!!

On 3-4-20 I left without some of my items and when I call at 10:23 a.m. the next day, there is no answer. I will continue to call today and stop by tonight after work....

They need to hire new people because one person in particular need to be fired. She just have an attitude, she might just need a cheeseburger or something. If she dont get fired by next month its going to be a problem, for real. Dont go hear if you dont need too, if you do then go.

The store itself is garbage but the real treat is what goes on in the back. Ask for Antoine and tell him you are interested in The Holiday Specials , hell sell you some of the best dank in Chicago.

The Family dollar I wow what to say.I live 2 blocks from it so its the most convenient and price friendly store in pilsen, Im in there at leasr 2 -3 times a week for my household and pet needs.The place has been cleaner since they reopened.The new manager who is always singing is really nice and helpful.The dark skinned gentlemen with dread locks is always nice and helpful and will open another register when long lines.The new girl who shaves her head is super nice and fast on register.The skinny tall ratty hair girl who has been there awhile is always rude to customers.Its pretty bad.The lines here are always exceptionally long and you sometimes have to ask them to open another register.Always expect a 20 min wait in line..Also sometimes items you need are out on shelf but sitting there in a box.And you cant purchase them because they arent shelved yet.kinda annoying.All in all I come here because Its the only choice in the neighborhood.I wish a Walgreens or CVS would open closer to 18th street.So Im giving them 2 stars because of long wait times at register.They cant handle the customer volume .Employees are overall super nice, though that doesnt always ensure a good customer experience if items arent available on shelves or lines to long👎👎👎👎👎.

This is the worst start ever I had a manager to follow me out the store that said he was going to cut me up I was explaining to him that the detergent was 100 oz and it said 50 more so that means you pay the hundred Oz price but thats what happens when you uneducated and you cant read the advertisement thats coming into the store you had a cash register at the front that was about 5 months pregnant on her phone discussing who stealing in the store and it was just unreal and he was telling me that he was an OG and he was from Englewood or Hustler old school

This is the worst family dollar in the city. The stores a mess, the management is unprofessional and rude, they close before hours and if you complain or ask questions they get mad at you.
