Curriculum is heavily geared towards effective self-defense and is structured to ensure proper reflex development at each stage of advancement. These guys were so welcoming. They immediately made me feel comfortable and put me in the mix. No one was judgemental and I cant wait to go back! If youre worried about getting into jiu-jitsu then this is the place to put those worries to rest.

I have never tried BJJ but I saw a promotional ad for the Woman’s Empowerment program that teaches a female only class minus our instructor the ins and outs of an effective self defense techniques using many different moves derived from core combative moves. I’ve been going almost a month now and it has been an amazing experience! Billy is probably one of the best instructors I have seen even without trying any other gym Billy made my first day comfortable and with his excellent knowledge on each and every move I’ve learned so many cool and efficient moves. I plan on continuing my learning with Billy and the great staff there and would recommend wholeheartedly to any female interested in learning self defense or trying something new!

I’ve been a BJJ practitioner and a part of the jiu jitsu community for over 5 years.My 5 year old was super excited to start his BJJ journey. As a father I was super excited as well! For months we have been trying to find him a school.Finally, after a last minute cancellation with Gracie Barra, we managed to schedule a time for my son to begin his trial class.Well, unfortunately we arrived and there was no one to open the door. When I called, the person whomWe spoke to told me he did not see any appointment on his schedule.But how?! We were confirmed both a day before and an hour before heading to Fredericksburg.Anyway, the person whom I spoke to seemed to not even care. I felt like he was brushing me off too.This is an embarrassment to the BJJ community. If Gracie BJJ is keen to upholding certain “core values,” I certainly would have expected much more of them.I’ll be writing Rener Gracie and the Gracie family. I’ll also tell everyone who’s interested in attending Gracie BJJ to beware.

I train up in NY but decided to stop in while in Fredericksburg on business. Coach Billy is super friendly, knowledgeable, and a fun guy to roll with. I will definitely be back.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the Gracie Combatives class. Billy Grimm is a great instructor and teaches in a way that is easily retainable. I have gone through the cycle once and am amazed at my progress!

A great place for beginners to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. High quality instruction of world renowned Gracie techniques taught in a safe training environment. Billy is a fantastic instructor, making sure you learn the techniques correctly and safely. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, students are helpful and work with you to be successful in learning the techniques.

Heard about this place, so stopped on our way through town. We are from Texas, but the owner was so nice, he gave my son (who has been plagued by bullies) a mini-lesson and encouraged us to look for a place close to home. Mr. Grimm was so patient, knowledgable and helpful. Made me wish we lived closer to this location.

I had my first class tonight and felt comfortable and confident with asking for help and how I was learning the basic moves and maneuvers. Billy is a very good instructor. He is very thorough and explains the whys and why nots for every move and position. If you want to learn in a more structured environment with safety as a high priority...then here is the place you want to learn and train. Combatives teaches how to defend yourself against a stronger and larger opponent. It is empowering!!!!

The Gracies invented Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. Then they created an unarmed combat course for the US Army Rangers, then they made that into the Combatives Curriculum. Now Billy Grimm is teaching extremely well that exact course to normal dudes like me and I am learning at a rapid pace. Great material, great instructor, all in our great town of Fredericksburg. This is an amazing way to learn Jiu Jitsu while simultaneously learning safely how to defend yourself in street assault scenarios. An instructor with an immense degree of patience and the means to easily convey and teach all the intricacies of the curriculum. Layer that in with the Combatives program of the Gracies and it makes for an incredible experience for everyone regardless of age. My wife and I have been training for a few months and we are hooked. Premier self-defense moves, especially the mixture of those designed specifically for women to ward off or defend from potential attackers. Gracie Combatives, incredible and personable instructor, and a central location in the Fredericksburg area...what more could anyone ask? Definitely give this facility a try; with a two-week trial, its a safe effective way to see if it is for you. We were hooked the very first day!

Billy is a great instructor! He shows the lesson of the day multiple times, to make sure we know how to perform the techniques properly. I have been coming here for a few months now. I highly recommend anyone to come try it out, no matter what age. Billy teaches adults and children. There is a 10 day free trial at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Fredericksburg, which no other Jiu-Jitsu gym offers in the area.
