Awesome instruction from Professor Martin. He cares about helping you understand the bigger picture while teaching details that matter. I dropped in for a class and open mat as a visitor. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Irvine.

Love this place. Professor Morachimo is great with kids. He makes it fun but emphasizes paying attention, listening and discipline. Adult classes are great too. The professor is great at what he does and it reflects in his students. Everyone is friendly and helpful and couldn’t be happier here.

I had an amazing experience at this gym while traveling. The instructor was extremely knowledgeable and was willing to humble you on the mat if needed. The mats were extremely clean and the practitioners were extremely friendly. I truly cannot wait to do another class with this amazing group of people. I strongly recommend anyone traveling to or living in the Orange County area to give this gym a shot. The training and experience had were top notch.

Ive been training BJJ on and off for 16 years on multiple schools. Professor Martin is not only extremely skilled at the art, but he also has a great personality and is an excellent teacher.The environment is fun and easy going. The training partners know when to get tough, but they also seem to understand when its better to lose a submission than to risk hurting a partner. The most abundance of laughter and camaraderie Ive ever encountered in a BJJ school was definitely here.

I live in Seattle but visit OC semi regularly. I have visited this academy on many occasions and will keep coming back every chance I get. Professor Martin is not only an encyclopedia of Jiu Jitsu knowledge but one of the most welcoming hosts of a school that I have visited. His students are all smiling and equally as welcoming. There is no better place to train Jiu Jitsu full time , if you are in the area and looking for a home school; or even swing by for a visit. I cant say enough good things about this place. I have the deepest respect for this Academy, its students and most of all for Professor Martin.

Phenom bjj is legit. Professor martin is a genius brazillian jujitsu practitioner and instructor. He is able to make you grasp and understand the true technique of the art. I cannot say enough about his passion and skill he brings to the mats. It does not matter what age or body type you are he will make you reach your full potential and more. The team trains hard but are very respectful and friendly. the facility is really nice with so many amenities which a lot of other academies dont offer. Come check it out!!!!!

Phenom OC is a great environment for anyone who wants to try Jiu Jitsu for the first time or any current practitioner. The energy there is warm and a very friendly. It is a great place to train as a female and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in Brazilin Jiu Jitsu. Professor Martin is one of a kind.

I purchased the 10 class for my 7yr old. We tried the first class. The instructors seemed cool. Class was about 50min. After the class the instructor broke down the cost if I decided to sign on.. the he went on and said I would need to pay for the uniform if he wanted to continue the class. I felt cornered. (One parent told me his wife only paid about $60 for their sons uniform) but the instructor told me $140... once again i felt pressure. I paid for it. And he told me I would have it by the next class (I didnt) 2nd I called the next day because my son said he didnt like the class. So I called to get a refund on the uniform. (Never did he mention there wasnt any refund ) he said he couldnt because the patches are stiches on and that its an route and that I should get the uniform wed. We well now its Friday night and I still havent got it .nor a call. I honestly want my money back... bad business.. I would Def recommend not buying a uniform from them... try Amazon its way cheaper

Professor Martin and his coaches are amazing at teach fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu to kids and adults. He is also a wizard when it comes to the advanced stuff!

BJJ is the first martial art that I really got into. For my size, weight, and mindset, its seemingly perfect for me to train in this style! It relies heavily on pure technique and intelligence, rather than stength.Just by going a few days a week, I learn different moves, different ways to think, and so much more. Not only that, but I get a really good cardio workout.The people there are absolutely amazing! These are the nicest and most humble people I have ever met. When I first showed up at phenom, I was greeted and welcomed so warm-heartedly. Everyone does not hesitate to spend their time to guide and help you, even when you think you got it!Phenom is the best. Period. Ive never seen anything like it before! Im proud to be training at a place like this.

I use to and still review endless numbers of youtube videos for techniques in regards to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I got the fundamentals and many fancy moves quickly yet incompletely; however, I learned through training with Phenoms owner Professor Martin the little details, invisible Jiu Jitsu, that could make any position that much more effective. Through the past 3 years of training with him, he has continually shown me new and different techniques or details of those techniques that has revolutionized my game. Additionally, his coaching prepared me for many competitions but has never pushed me if I didnt want to be. Overall - if you are serious about learning the art of Jiu Jitsu... train with Professor Martin.
