Awesome school - great teachers and great selection of teachers for a variety of instruments. Shout out to Dan for being a very patient and knowledgeable instructor for an adult beginner guitar student. Also one to Maya for being a super nice first point of contact there. As one of the remote students, I love that you can do lessons via Zoom and that theres an App to practice along with in addition to the books. Also love that its a mix of learning the fundamentals but also learning songs - which keeps things fun.

If you want lessons on drums, vocals. keyboards, bass and/or guitar and then get put with about 15 students to make up a series bands that learn songs together then plays them at The Viper Room, The Mint, The Whiskey, ... this is for you. A truly unique program and I know because I teach guitar and direct rock shows there.

The instructors my daughter has worked with have been infinitely patient and kind. Theyre always full of encouragement while still reinforcing important character traits like commitment and teamwork. I have seen a big boost in her self-confidence and shes proud of herself for overcoming her stage fright. As a parent, I like the way SOR communicates her progress with me. It really helps that they send out recaps after class and let me know what to help her focus on for the week. Now that shes moved into the performance program were all really excited to see her with the band on stage at one of the amazing venues! Its such a cool goal to work towards and that really inspires the kids!

School of Rock West LA has state of the art facilities and wonderful instructors! The class structure of a 30-minute private lesson and a group lesson accelerates the learning and fun. As a parent, I appreciate the WiFi lounge allowing me to work while my son is in class and I can easily run errands or pick up dinner at the local shops and restaurants nearby. I also love how the School of Rock App makes practicing at home easy. My 9-year-old son is having a blast learning to play the electric guitar and I highly recommend School of Rock West LA.

High quality teachers with a fantastic attitude for kids and adults. Diverse music programs. Great rehearsal rooms at the school and epic concert venue bookings throughout the city for the kids’ shows. Good administration - easy to deal with rescheduling, etc. It adds up cost-wise but when you consider all the private lessons and 2-hour band practice sessions led by dual qualified teachers it makes sense. And they really go the extra mile. My kids (and myself!) have learned and enjoyed so much for two years and counting. Thanks SoR!

Theyre organized. Theyre fun. The band names/playlists are so creative and expose my child to an array artists and musical styles. The location is great, and drop-off and pick-up are really easy. My child loves it! She loves the teachers, the music, the other kids, and the shows. Rehearsal is the thing she looks forward to most each week. Also, I love that Im not constantly getting bills--they just charge my credit card and I dont have to mess with anything.

Full disclosure: I have never taken a class here, nor have I ever interacted with an instructor. But I happened upon a public concert being given by the students of School of Rock West LA, and I was blown away by the talent and stage presence of middle school kids. Clearly, this place has developed a rigorous training program and is capable of producing impressive musicians.

My kids (and I) have been students of the School of Rock, West LA for the past 3+ years. After watching the school establish itself and grow over the years, I can genuinely recommend the school. The premise is simple -- teach people how to play by enticing them with music they actually want to hear and play.Since the time the school has opened, there have been some significant changes and improvements. The school was purchased about a year and a half ago, and is under different ownership than it was during its early days. The new owners have been very careful with the school, evaluating what works and changing the things that could be improved. They have invested, and continue to invest, in the facility -- this summer adding a shaded deck outside, They have made additional investments in the interior, the furnishings, the equipment and the faculty and staff. Billing, scheduling and accounting functions have all been improved, computerized and streamlined and are easy to access and understand. The reason why anyone comes to a music school, though, is to learn how to play his or her instrument of choice, but the reason people stay is the quality of the instructors, the sustainability of the program and the community of other students and parents that supports continued effort. It is in these areas where the school really shines. The schools music director, Ryan Schiff, is a gem. He cares about the students and the community at the school and he has been very successful in recruiting some really talented instructors. Between all of us in the family, we take lessons in vocals, drums, guitar and bass. There are also keyboard instructors, a violin teacher and several other multi-instrumental instructors. Recently, the school seems to have increased its emphasis on music theory as well, which is important to us.I believe the school gives tours and offers free introductory lessons. If you are interested, the best way to see what the place is like is to go to the school, have a look around and try a lesson.

I love that School of Rock sparks a passion to become a great musician, learn multiple instruments and be an integral member of the band. This experience is unparalleled and provides a much more enhanced musical education beyond private music lessons. The group environment is extraordinarily dynamic, exacts demanding expectations from each musician and propels these kids to greatness.

Kelly who runs the school is absolutely awful. She is unprofessional, combative, lacks follow-up skills, lacks customer service skills, and is incredibly rude and unable to resolve conflict. I would never send my child to a place that is run by a person like Kelly. That said, I pulled my child out of the summer camp.
