Man oh man. I lived right around the corner on Colden Ave. I attended from 1996-1998. Ended up getting kicked out for multiple different reasons. My life really changed during that time. R.I.P. Mr. Finley. Anybody besides these youngsters know who he was. Too many memories in and out of school.

Going to Bret Harte was a great experience. Much more fun than high school :(

Graduated from here in 1992, shortly after the LA Riots. Made some amazing friendships back then.

I taught at Bret Harte P.I.S. under Catherine Sumpter (one of the finest principals with whom I have ever worked). I loved the kids. I loved the faculty and staff. I taught there during the time of the LA riots. It was a seminal moment of my life. I learned lessons that all teachers should know. 1.) Never ask the children to lie for you. 2.) Love the children with all of your heart (You may be one of the only people who does). and this, #3, from my mentor teacher Jenny Malonek, Michael, we teach every ones children and 8% of the US population is insane. I have been teaching for twenty-three years. Bret Harte P.I.S.tutored me well.

Teacher told my daughter I could be deported. End of story. Pulling her from the school.
