I love having my hair done at this location. The staff is very caring and so friendly. From upon entering to leaving Im well taken care of by the staff. At present my stylist is Leslie and she has given me an excellent silk press using the awesome Paul Mitchell products. I love it. When I walk out my hair is so beautiful and flowing. Paul Mitchell provided me with such wonderful stylist in the past and present since their days in Bartlett. When one stylist graduates another steps right in with the same care, professionalism, and attention to the details like her predecessor. And dont worry if theres a problem the instructors are there to make it right. They will guide the student in the right direction. Great place!!

My experience at this hair school was GREAT! After spending 100.00 dollars on a style that I could have done myself I was not happy. I was very reserved to try someone new, but was curious about the students here. I walked in made an appt for that afternoon. Came back and received professional service from the front desk to the young lady that took care of me. She will graduate next month and I will be following her where ever she goes! The shampoo and conditioning treatments and that SCALP massage.. OHHHHH to style and careful way that she took care of my locs. Her pleasant demeanor deserved the tip plus more!

Ive been getting my hair done at PMTSM for over a year now, and I love it. My hairstylist in training, Charlie Washington, is the best! Seriously, if you want a quality experience here, ask for Charlie. She is the sweetest person, and she knows hair. She just trimmed and colored my hair on June 10, and it looks amazing, as always.

Paul Mitchell has created hair products that are diverse for all hair types. As a black woman with fine hair, it is a challenge to find stylist that can work with my texture and find balance that keeps my locks healthy. I am grateful for this School. The students are great and their work is amazing. The cost is very reasonable for any of their services. Give them a try-you will not be disappointed.

My first experience was awful the student tried to color my hair the gray coverage but didnt succeed she only shampoo my hair 1 time after a so called color she also was trying to blow dry my hair with no oil or conditioner it was awful .. But thanks b to god a Young lady by the name of kyiah kept walking by paying close attention to the student that was doing my hair (Queen ) is her name . So i rescheduled an appointment with kyiah and she got the job done ... I just think the reception clerk should book clients with the best not just anyone know their work before assigning them with clients . Thanks to Ms.kyiah for helping me out...

Customer Services needs improvement!I called on Tuesday 10/21/2020 to ser an appointment for myself and daughter for the upcoming Saturday. I initially called the 1 800 number and was transferred over to the Highland location.I was greeted by a very dry opeator. Her tone was not welcoming at all. I proceeded with asking if I could set an appointment for Friday or Saturday also asking about time of operation. She explained that NO appointment was needed that they only did walk in and they stop taking them at 2pm and opened at 9am (which was also incorrect) . Ok no problem we will walk in.Saturday 9am I arrives to see that it opens at 10. Come back at 10:10 and walks in only to be told that they dont accept walk in on Saturdays and that they were booked. I explained to the Receptionist that I called to make an appointment and was denied and given incorrect information, her demeanor was like oh well. This miscommunication was a big inconvenience. Please inform your staff/students to provide correct information pertaining to the operations of business.I really felt as if this was intentionally done to prevent me from getting service render in this establishment. I would hate to say that it was racial profiling but it made me feel as such. I only asked that as a prestige Beauty School that customer service live up to the expectations of your Name and products.

I am so happy with all of my experiences at the Paul Mitchell Hair School. The Learning Leaders really go out of their way to teach and explain things to both you and the students doing your hair, and they wont rest until you are 100% satisfied. The whole crew over there is incredibly warm and welcoming and they really take good care of you. You will be so happy you went there and saved a ton of money on your salon bill. I have found my salon home! I cant see any reason to ever go anywhere ealse.

Ive been going to Paul Mitchell The School for a year and a half now, and for the most part have had great experiences! It can take 3 or 4 hours for a cut and color, depending on the level of experience the student has, but this should be understood, since these are students. In my opinion, the cost savings is worth the extra time, and I really enjoy getting to know the students. All the students that have worked on my hair have been really friendly and professional. The learning leaders are super nice and make sure you are happy with your hair. My Mom has short hair with a wave to it, which seems to be challenging for news students to cut, and the learning leader always comes over and helps out. My color job really looks amazing and just as nice as the color I used to get by an experienced colorist. In summary, I would highly recommend coming here as long as you arent in a rush to be in and out.And one more comment...they styled my hair and my wedding party as well, and did an amazing job!!!!

I decided to get my hair done here some months ago and they completely messed up my bayalage. It was as if the students were not being taught properly and the supervising hair stylists didn’t seem to care that much. I understand that they are students and can’t expect a perfect result, but the end result was a completely botched, uneven, and horrendous attempt at a “bayalage”. I would NOT recommend getting color done here. A haircut may be different, but definitely do NOT try getting color of any kind, especially anything that deals with lifting hair to a lighter shade.

How disheartening it is to learn that your school has allowed a local abuser, & manipulator back on your campus as an instructor. An instructor that was previously fired for breaking the rules. You have an anti-harassment policy on your website, which goes into explicit detail of what is and what is not tolerated by your school, most of which he has done! How absurd is it that you’d let someone of that mindset back onto your property to *hopefully* not continue his predatory behavior. I truly hope you reconsider your stance on having this person back on your team and make the right choice. The majority of Memphis is watching. Send Mat Brown packing! Abuse and manipulation should not be tolerated or rewarded!

I absolutely loveeeee my black dye that Haley from the night school did on my natural hair. I came in with my hair a dingy reddish orange which I hated but she assured me that I would love the new color when she finished which I did. Paul Mitchell The School Memphis (PMTSM) is an excellent school to attend. The School has so much to offer in so many ways. The Learning Leaders (teachers) are very understanding and helpful. Everybody there, the Learning Leaders, Future Professionals (students), and guests are so kind and respectful. The environment is like a family, very loving. Paul Mitchell Schools are the best Cosmetology schools out there. They also teach life skills, such as a financing class to teach you how to use your money properly. They also teach you how to like yourself and to enjoy life. They are even surprise guests whether they are stylists or salon owners. These guests are inspirational in so many ways. I strongly encourage everyone who wants to do hair or are interested in hair should attend.

I have been going to Paul Mitchell School for a couple of years now and Ive never had a bad experience - and Ive had a variety of experiences. I have come in for simple haircuts, keratin treatments, highlights, and most recently I got all of my hair cut off! Ive also brought a friend in on the day of her wedding to be taken care of, pampered and her hair done. The girls at Paul Mitchell gave her so much attention and made sure everything was perfect for her.They are consistently affordable and every student I have had has done a great job!I will continue to go to Paul Mitchell for as long as I can forsee. :)

I stopped in for a quick consult on wether or not they could come close to the color maintenance Aveda institute in Pembroke Pines Florida had done 6 weeks ago.... they brought out their “color expert” “from California” who asked me what colors I wanted.... I’m looking to maintain the colors I already have. He then begins picking through my hair to show me the different colors and I’m responding yes that one, yes that one, yes, yes, yes... he then again asks what colors I’m looking to get. Total and complete inappropriate, unprofessional, peickly attitude from the get go. I responded, I don’t know the names of these colors. I know nothing about hair or colors. I showed him the pics of my hair the day it was colored and he then asked if I wanted my hair purple from the tips to roots. My hair isn’t purple and if I wanted a bottle job I’d do it myself. I asked a very simple question and he was adamant on basically refusing to do my hair because they cannot color match Aveda colors and blah blah blah. Said he’s from Hollywood and has been doing this many years. If this is the case why are you asking what colors are on my hair?? The photos speak for themselves. He ended up straight walking away without notice and sent another teacher to speak with me. This instructor said oh yeah of course we can do that. All I asked was if they can get close to my previous/current colors and ended up leaving very upset, disrespected, treated horribly and with a migraine. I think the first guy I spoke with was Chris but not sure. The second guy was Greg and he was a breeze compared to that other idiot that expected me to, what, like point to each strand of hair in the pics and say this color, this color, this color, and this color..I did not go to cosmotology school and I know nothing about hair colors or the process. That what I thought he was there for. Apparently I was wrong. The guy was a complete jerk. And I am very flexible and easy to please. Just trying to get an idea of my options.

I was so excellent about being a future student at Paul Mitchell the Memphis school. I request everything the told me I would needed in Feb 2016 to get ready to start on March 30. I was ready to roll in setup to get started then the school came with new information they needed that would delay me. I total them a issue I had with a school I attended that is now close.They was not helpful they was rude and mean and show no concern after I was trying to attend the school. So I got so upset because I was excited to started and now they telling me they couldnt help me and they was very rude at the same time. Other than that the school was very nice and clean and one of the students did a awesome job on my hair. The other staff I met was sweet, friendly and welcome you that make feel you where you need to be. I hate not being able to attended the school. Now Im look to attend somewhere else that willing to help me locate the information that need for a school deal with a transcript for a school that is close. Yes! A transcript is the reason my dreams are put on hold for a school I finish and got degree from which is close down now and unable to get a transcript.

I purchased a Groupon to get full highlights, cut, and deep conditioning. This was by the far the worst experience Ive ever had at a salon. The stylist who did my hair her name was Precious, she was impersonal, rude, and when I asked her how much schooling she had left she told me and said that hair isnt her passion anymore and she doesnt like doing it and I could tell. I showed a picture of what I wanted and what they did was nothing like the picture. I wanted to say something but I was treated poorly from the beginning and plus I was there for a little over 4 hours so I was ready to go. I was supposed to get deep conditioning but she told me she didnt have enough time so she was going to skip the shampoo and put in conditioner. She left the conditioner in for about a minute said she didnt have time for it to sit in my hair. She was switched out by another stylist while blow drying my hair used a titanium brush that gets very hot she kept hitting my ear with it. I told her several times that kept hitting my ear and it didnt seem to help. She did several more times. And she kept yanking on my hair, and I told her that it was hurting but she did it anyway. I was so frustrated when I left and I didnt want to complain because I didnt want to be there for an additional 4 hours. The Groupon wasnt worth it and the way I was treated was absolutely horrific. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.

I am extremely picky with whom I let cut or color my hair. My hair had gotten to a stage it was so Frizzy and I would have to straighten it every day. I just chalked the frizzies to hormones/going through the life change. My step daughter is a student at Paul Mitchell school so I decided to go check them out. I have been 3 times now. The 1st time I got a deep conditioning and a trim by Brittney Cook and was satisfied so I went back a 2nd time, this time I had Brittney cover my grey and another trim and she did a Fabulous job matching my natural color. The instructor (Cleo) advised me I was using the wrong shampoo(Pantene) so I switched and the Frizzies have been GREATLY Minimized. My mom who has been telling me, every time she sees me for last couple of years now, that my hair used to be so beautiful and healthy looking but not last couple of years thanks mom lol.... Well... since Ive been going to P.M.school she and many others keep complimenting me on how healthy, shiny and beautiful my hair now looks. The third visit, 4 days ago, I went and had the color done again, by Brittney and another stylist, Vivian, did a blowout to dry it while Brittney finished up something else, and she did a fabulous job! Vivian kept saying your hair is so super soft and shiny. Other students also kept saying how shiny and healthy it looked as they passed by. I have been so pleased with Paul Michell School and I will continue going and I highly recommend them.

Not quite sure why most reviews complain about the time it takes here to receive great color cut and all around services, when they area clearly being told that all services take time and allot this due to the services being performed are by either PHASE I OR PHASE II *Phase I will take a bit longer due to most of their work step by step HAS to be cleared and approved by an instructor... these are a great group of people who provide the best quality and products around.... I have and always come here for just quick basic services such as my dead ends being trimmed, my PM SHINES all over hair color, as well as my hair being thinned out ... greaat place to go!! I will continue going here for my hair services!

I am a weekly customer and always enjoy my experience at Paul Mitchell. My stylist Yolanda takes her time and provides excellent customer service. I also enjoy how relaxing I feel when Im getting my hair shampooed in the wash house.

My hairdresser Bri did a real good job, but I had eaten 46 burritos the night before and had crazy explosive diarrhea, they had to replace the salon chair, great haircut though. 5 stars.

Ive been going to Paul Mitchell The School for a year and a half now, and EVERY TIME is a wonderful experience. Staff and students alike are incredibly friendly and good at what they do. The Learning Leaders come by frequently to check that everything is proceeding properly &/or to show them a different technique, etc. Ive never felt uncomfortable by the job the student was doing---but if I did, I know that I would simply raise my slight concern and the three of us (student, leader, and me) would correct the situation and continue on with my beautification. My most recent student stylist was Mandie J, and she not only conducts herself as a competent, professional stylist, but she is a very personable and kind woman to boot! ^_^ Absolutely I will be requesting her for my next appointment.1.5 years ago I walked in with 3 feet of black hair and said, Chop it off and make me blonde! Ive not regretted a single thing about that decision! The Leaders and students may give me a little guff when I come in WELL AFTER the 6 weeks Im supposed to (*my bad*), but I always walk out a gorgeous Marilyn Monroe-like blonde with people stopping me in stores, parking lots, etc. to tell me how much they love my hair...Thank You Paul Mitchell The School!!!*nota bene* There are three things every customer wants---fast, cheap, & good---however, we can ONLY get two at a time. PMTS is cheap and good, thusly not fast. You will be there much longer than a traditional establishment, but just think of it as extra time to get pampered ^_^

I talked about getting my hair done for weeks looking at all kinds of online hairstyles and color. I finally decide and schedule at the school because it’s Paul Mitchell..,it has to be good. I arrived at 10:00 am and waited 40 minutes for my hair dresser/student to arrive. I show her the style it’s a long layered cut with dark roots and light ends, the instructor comes and proceed to give me a 15 minute lecture on how he could not possibly do this. Granted I just overheard the same conversation earlier when he also said no to another clients color choice. I have had this done before but now all the sudden he was not sure it could be done to my hair and did a color strand test. Great strand test complete...25 minutes later...HE then decides it is not going to work and suggested my only option is to just go black. Okay fine so I don’t get the color I want but I will get the cut. It’s okay I can deal with it. My stylist/student was almost finished with her school so I thought I was in good hands. I kidd you not they must have pick a random girl walking by and put scissors in her hand that morning. She did not know how to comb my hair....hold please...SHE DID NOT KNOW HOW TO COMB MY HAIR! She pulled my hair so bad (and I am not tender headed) I had to tell her several times how much she was hurting me but it fell on deaf ears. She then applies my color to my entire head, forehead and ears. Now I am just sitting there waiting for my color to process. Great it is now noon and it won’t be much longer, I am excited to see the finished result. We go to rinse my hair (which again this has to be her first time how could you possibly mess up rinsing off hair) she sprays me in the face and fils both ears with water. Now at this point another instructor comes to assist and covers my face as so I do not get sprayed again. She is now focused on washing my forehead and ears, so I figure it’s okay probably just a little color on the head she will take it right off. I am now ready for my hair cut and style. As she is drying my hair I get my first look at my dyed scalp, I look like I just performed an oil change, my head had a black forehead headband all over it. IT WAS BAD! I am now told she needs more help because she did not know how to cut my particular hairstyle choice. So the instructor shows her and I am beginning to fume. After about another 30 minutes of her pulling my hair and getting assisted several times she is done. Another instructor checks her work and finds one side longer than the other and corrects it for me. I should have just picked up my purse and take my mechanic looking self out of there. BUT I STAYED. She begins to blow dry my hair and again the pulling of my hair continues. By this time my head hurts so bad from all the other pulling I just pray it will be over soon. She finishes and as I look in the mirror I swear I must have put my finger in a light socket and blacked out. I looked like a tree bush. Again we get assistance and is now educated on proper hair drying techniques. ARE YOU SERIOUS! It is then suggested that a flat iron is needed to help straighten and curl. Can you guess what happened next...???...she did not know how to curl using a flat iron. So after all of this it is now around 2 pm and I can’t take anymore. I told her I was done and left. I have never ever ever experienced such a horrific hair cut salon/school. What happened to learning the basic fundamentals? I will never be back and pray the school only gets better. It does not have the right to use Paul Mitchell’s name!

I arrived at 1015 and didnt leave until almost 6pm. My girlfriend and I decided we would try it together. I brought a picture to show them the style I was trying to acheive. The student that was working with me consulted with her teacher on my hair color...I let then know that my stylist goes with a darker base and low lights. The instructor tired to match my natural hair color which was wrong. It took the student hours just to apply a base coat...it took at least an hour fir the low lights. The color came out too light and the had to put in a toner. (I dont fault the student, he was a student) By now I was nervous about getting my haircut so i asked to have it done by an instructor....By now it was almost 530 and most people had already come and gone. She gave me a quick cut and the student somewhat dried it and asked me how I liked the cut. I told her it was nothing like the picture. I dried my own hair because I didnt want to go out in the cold with wet hair. I had already paid for my services and the student knew I was dissatisfied and told me I had seven days to come in for a refinement....seriously, one instructor screwed up by suggesting the wrong hair color, the other instructor gave me a half ass haircut and then left! Why on gods hreen earth would I come back they to have further damage done???!! You get what you pay for!! It cost $65 for a bad experience and Im going to have to go back to my regular hairdresser and pay her to have it corrected. No thank you!Oh and by the way, my girlfriend couldnt stop apologizing for suggesting this to me and her experience was similar with a stylist that was graduating in one week!! We will never go back or suggest this place!There is a reason they have you sign a waiver.

Melissa Rogers in financial aid is not a nice person to say the least. She turns away certain potential students purposely for no good reason. She also has a negative attitude and the way she treats people.

Salon review. Horrible customer service and overall bad experience. Save yourself the hassle. I purchased a Groupon to get a highlights, cut, contitioning and style for $50. Once i got there, the stylist said it would be better for me to get my hair to me toned instead of highlighted. This is a lesser charge, under the color category. It is $15 less for a color than a highlight. They said they would not accept my groupon and that I would have to pay another $30 because the Groupon is no longer valid- even though I was getting a less expensive service. The stylist student and teacher agreed that this is an unfair policy and bad business, but said there is nothing they could do. I left without getting my hair done. My Groupon is unrefundable - so I wasted $50. They are unflexible and have garbage customer service. Just go to a real salon and save yourself the headache.

Booked 2 days ahead for medium haircut. Waited 20 minutes then seated. Student and trainer introduces themselves. She gets coached on how to proceed. I then find out this is her first human cut. I ask teacher if she will be close by and she reassured me there is 2 here.More than 1 1/2 hours later this simple ✂ is not ✔ plus 1 instructor down and she is distracted. Student got overwhelmed plus made unfixable short deep cuts. Three hours👎 ended up with asymmetric lob hat. Was not offered discount nor certificate to fix upon grow out. Outtathar overitdone

Im a older woman and the young lady asked one of the instructor to talk to me. She was very short and disrespectful towards me. I will never spend my money with people who dont have good customer service skills.

My sister went there yesterday to get a hairstyle done, she showed the stylist the hairstyle twice, my sister hair was long, when she got through my sister hair was a hot mess, she looked like alopecia mixed with a chemotherapy patient, the woman that did her hair is getting ready to graduate, they need to give you your tuition money back and find another trade. Dont go to this school for no styling, you will be disappointed.

DONT COME TO PAUL MITCHELL , they are not what they say they are it’s a waste of money if i could leave i would but they enclose you with a contract RUDEST DIRECTOR AND STAFF other than a very few , just don’t waste your time doing this the biggest waste of money you’d be better off at empire or a different hair school . I just advise you to not go
