I just wanted to take this opportunity to share my thoughts and experience from my recent virtual cooking class with Home Cooking New York. I must admit that I was somewhat suspect and skeptical of the outcome of this experience. Having attended in-person classes in the past, I was unsure how this experience would translate in a virtual environment.I scheduled the cooking class for my niece and I. She had a strong desire to learn how to make dumplings and I thought it would be a great bonding adventure. We had a great time and my niece truly loved the experience. Our fantastic experience could not have happened without acknowledging the help and talent of a great Chef/Instructor. We were fortunate enough to have Chef Susan Streit Sherman as our Instructor. She always had a sunny disposition, had patience of a saint and worked very well with my niece. My niece has not stopped talking about her experience. The real test came when the fruits of our labor quickly disappeared and there was not a trace of a dumpling to be had or found.Thank you again for providing an experience and memory of a lifetime.

Overall this is a somewhat mediocre cooking class for the price and current competition.I went to the Thai cooking session with my wife where we learned to make a soup, rice, curry, and fish dish. It was enjoyable but I wouldn’t go back.I think the biggest problem with Home Cooking’s setup is that they physically don’t have the resources to allow each student to do any hot cooking. There is only one electric portable burner at the table (which only the instructor uses) and the sole hands-on experience you get is cutting vegetables or preparing ingredients. The rest of the time you spend listening and watching the instructor cook. That’s really it.The instructor was knowledgeable but I didn’t feel like I learned too much more than what I would’ve by watching videos or reading recipes. The food “we” made was good, except for the fish dish which my wife and I actually did not enjoy. In the end I can’t really recommend this class given the high price, and that there are now many cooking class options available in NYC.

Im sorry about the fate of the lemon, but I have to say, those are harsh sentiments for our business based on one bad lemon. A lot can happen to a lemon when it is shipping from NY!I hope Benjamin enjoys tonights class.Best,Jennifer-----------------To Whom It May Concern,My sons company ordered this gift box for our holiday. When I opened the box, one lemon was rotten , the other one was very unfresh. This is so bad for your company reputations.Best regards,Stephanie

I found this while looking for a special gift for my daughter who loves New York and loves to cook. From the start, Jennifer was so easy to work with. Professional and responsive. We chose to do a private virtual lesson with my family so 3 other households across the nation. We chose the dumplings and received the shopping list and zoom link in ample time. We had Chef Sue and she was so personable and delightful. She made sure each household was getting it and the dumplings turned out great. Will look for more classes for my daughter.

We took 2 online cooking classes through Home Cooking NY during the pandemic. It was a great way for us to cook things we otherwise would not have. The classes were jus the right size - only about 8-9 others linked in, so not so big where you wouldn’t be able to stop the instructor to ask questions. We enjoyed the classes and would recommend it.

Another outstanding experience for my teen (7.2021). Still tired of seeing her on social media and video games during the pandemic, I decided to enroll her in Home Cooking NY again this year. Im so pleased. The recipes were just great. We (the family) have hovered around the prepared food and consumed it in no time flat. My favorite - this year was the Mediterranean meal, but every meal was incredible. Yummy! Thank you so much! Well done.

I took the Mediterranean cooking class here with Erica and it was amazing. Erica has a lot of energy and a lot of knowledge. She explained everything step and also explained the history behind many of the ingredients. She explained why we cooked things in a certain order. There was plenty for everyone to do. The food was fantastic and the recipes were easy to follow. I definitely feel like I could replicate a lot of it at home.At the end we all are together and there was plenty to go around. Thanks only downside was that we didnt eat until the class was over around 8:15. I would reccomend eating a snack a head of time

I took Korean cooking, and it was an extremely informative, engaging, and yummy class. The instructor, John, was open to all of our questions, and actively encouraged them. There was a good balance of hands-on chopping and watching as he explained key methodologies. I loved that I learned enough fundamentals that I feel comfortable making these recipes at home (and possibly eyeball proportions if I should choose to-- recipes with exact amounts also provided). A definite recommend, and hope to take more classes there.

Jennifer and Home Cooking are fabulous. We were a group of 8 women (all experienced cooks) who came into the city for a market tour and then we cooked lunch together back in her cooking studio. Jennifer is warm and easy-going. She helped us choose interesting items at the market and had us try some things we hadnt ever tried before and they were delicious. She was open to all of our ideas and then with arms loaded with fresh goodies, we went to her cooking school to make lunch. Lunch was absolutely delicious and she provided us with recipes of the items that we made so we could recreate them at home. Simple ingredients cooked well make the best meals. She was full of tips and a pleasure to spend time with that day. We will be back!

I contacted Jennifer about doing a private cooking party for my mothers birthday. It was WONDERFUL! Jennifer was amazing, the food was delicious, and we had such a great time. Jennifer helped us customize the menu for all of our weird food idiosyncrasies and put together a fantastic feast. I can’t wait to try out the recipes again on my own!

An absolutely wonderful experience all around! We had 11 people for a corporate team building event and everyone really enjoyed every moment. The food was amazing, Erica the chef was great at explaining things while keeping it fun and light with a group of Type A personalities. I would definitely go back for corporate or private events and absolutely recommend Home Cooking for your next cooking class or event.

I signed up for a class and they cancelled. I signed up again and they cancelled again. Only this time they waited last minute and my sorry butt was already on their front door. They apologized and offered a free cook book and class. I refused the class and they never sent the book. The only reason I dont rate them lower is because at least they refunded my money. They seem flaky at best. I wouldnt bother with them anymore.
