If youve never eaten a meal while blindfolded (which you probably havent), Dark Dining is a must-experience event! Its perfect for date night, parties or just going solo - which I did. Chef Abby will greet you personally upon arrival, and she will give you a (new, sealed, sanitary) blindfold to wear throughout the entire evening. Trust me. You wont be able to peek; the covering is so effective, its pitch black with your eyes open. Lively music plays while you anticipate the arrival of a multi-course meal and wine pairings (the wine is replenished frequently). Having no sense of sight, I found myself using my fingers on more than one occasion! I could hear laughter from other diners as they did the same, literally feeling their way through the dark. Relying on your sense of taste, smell and touch, your awareness is heightened. You are even hyper-conscious of your movements. (Where did I place that Champagne flute???) The food is delicious, prepared from local sources, and at the end of the meal when you are free to remove your blindfold, Chef Abby reveals the menu and the wines. (Not to spoil anything, I thought I was eating one type of protein, and it was something completely different!) The all-inclusive price is a great value, and the chef will accommodate you if you have dietary restrictions or allergies. So, book a space (or a few) at the next Dark Dining event. If I could give this experience six stars, I would. You will have an unforgettable time! Thank you, Abigails Kitchen!

Cute little bistro in a quant part of the city. Food was good. Service was ok, but there was literally 1 waitress for the whole place the entire night, so things took a bit long to come out. The workers were really apologetic about the slow service and friendly. Drinks are a tad weak but taste good. Id go back. Try the steak and fries. Really good. The chicken was good as well.

My mouth is still watering thinking of the tender, flavorful steak we had and the amazing fries. Yummy french onion soup too. This is such a great place. The gentleman who took care of us not only greeted us like old friends he even remembered the specific concert we were going to the last time we were here a few months ago! The food here is amazing and we cant wait to go back. Great choice for an intimate dinner or with a group of friends/family.

The was was great. It was arranged in the plate as if it was modern art. The presentation of the food was awesome. I had a pleasant waitress. She was very helpful in suggesting us something to eat and she was always there any time we needed something. The actual establishment itself looks like a dump. You know what they say though the best food are from the hole in the wall looking places. I would recommend others to go to this restaurant and try it out. I know I definitely wouldnt mind going back there myself. I think this restaurant is one of those hidden gems that you find every now and again.

I went to this restaurant during a Dine in the Dark event and I was blindfolded entering into this establishment and when I was escorted out, so I have no idea regarding the decor. We were seated by the staff and the first item that they gave us to taste was garlic bread that we had to crunch on at the count of 3 to figure out the room size. I still do not know how small or large the room was. The garlic bread was very garlic-y and I do not believe it was because of my heightened sense due to being blindfolded. Also the bread was very hard I wish it would have had a soft middle. The next course was a refreshing and tasty avocado and cucumber chilled soup with basil and onions. I really enjoyed the soup. After that we had Atlantic Char that I found to be very fatty with a cabbage salad. Our main course was pork seasoned in cumin along other spices that I had no idea that it was pork and lentils that I found tasty. the dessert was a strawberry tart that was ok with a yummy mint ice cream that they made at the restaurant. The portions were enough to fill me up being that we had 4 courses and the wine pairing was very good. I would just hope that the portions would be larger if I decided to go back there without a blindfold.

We visited Camaje Bistro for one of their Dark Dining dinners, where guests eat while blindfolded. Eating in total darkness is disorienting, though you grow accustomed to your surroundings fairly quickly. Smells and noises become amplified; you smell your food before it reaches the table and others conversations are suddenly louder and clearer. The experience is neat though somewhat frustrating; I want to see what Im eating and not have to grope for my food with my fingers. I also didnt like not knowing what I was putting in my mouth and having no control over the menu -- I far prefer to choose my dishes than have them chosen for me. The food itself was decent though not earth shattering, and everything was served in impossibly small portions. The standout of the evening was a chilled avocado cucumber soup, creamy and tasty. Arctic char was a bit fishy and lackluster, which is a shame for fish with such potential. Pork was tender and meaty, though crusted in too much cumin and bizarrely paired with lentils and bell peppers. Strawberry rhubarb crisp was blah all around; the accompanying fresh mint ice cream was light and refreshing (though served in a thimble-sized portion). The entertainment throughout the evening was singing, chanting, and randomly being caressed when you werent expecting it -- I could have lived without all of it. An interesting experience, but one that isnt for me.

My experience here may be a bit different from the normal patron, as I was here for a private dark dining event. We were blindfolded before we entered the office, so I cant say much about the decor. Ill definitely give this place another chance, although perhaps this time without the blindfold.

It was an interesting evening. Most of the people in the group know each other. We were all blind folded before entering the dining room. I am not a fan of trusting others to lead us into a dining room. Then we were presented with a glass of water, and some overly well done garlic bread. It was too crispy. Then we were given a very small cup of cold avocado cucumber soup. The soup was good but cold. Then came the salad, which was char (similar in texture to salmon). It was over salted. I could not eat it. I love fish and salad but it was inedible. Then came the main course, which was also cold. Pork tenderloin, which was overly smoked and very salty. I could not eat it. Then dessert was a cold berry crispy with mint ice cream. I dislike mint. Needless to say, I did not eat the dessert. The wines were good. There was a different wine for each course. I like to see the food before I taste it. It was interesting. Very expensive. $125 per person. The food and experience was not worth the price. Portions were very small. Service was good. We were touched by unknown people while blind folded. I really did not appreciate that.

I popped in for drinks on a Wednesday night and I noticed that the space quickly filled up. They were short-staffed and it took 25 minutes for us to get our cocktails. They were worth the wait -- The Brexit was particularly well-balanced. We switched to wine, which was poured steadily all evening. Our server was apologetic about the wait and honored happy hour prices all night to make up for it.

On Monday October 17th my friend and I had a wonderful dinner at Camaje. We split the salad of fresh greens, beets, roasted carrots, mushrooms and goat cheese. It was served on 2 small plates so that we didnt have to divide the salad ourselves. What service! I had the duck breast with the pomegranate sauce and my friend had the fish of the day. Both were excellent!! The service was perfect; not too slow and not hovering every 15 minutes. I wish we could have stayed for dessert and coffee but we had tickets for a movie at the Independent Film Center (which is 5 minutes away!). Thank you, Abby and staff for a lovely and delicious meal!!!

When we got to the restaurant we were attacked at the entrance and greeted with sorry this is a private party!Well we made a reservation online and received a confirmation. I said.Yes, but we are closed for a private eventWe are going to have to get a bigger closed signI honestly did not read the dingy sign with the 8 sized font on the open door.5. I called the restaurant from outside filled with embarrassment to hopefully speak with a hostess or maybe an employee and explain i was outside.Oh the site should have not let you do that we are closed for a private event. You can go around the corner to another place. No indication of maybe asking us to reschedule or willingness to make it up to us.Very disappointed with the lack of consideration. -5 stars!

Seriously, starting at 7:00pm, at 9:00pm we only had the very first dish.- no big surprise in the plate, I was hoping for more creativity. I dont really see what is the point of serving expected dished / ingredients. Only the palate cleanser was a surprise (thats just one thing)- they make a big deal of wearing the mask at all time. I dont think that is necessary

Camaje hosts Dining in the Dark nights. Eat a tasting menu blindfolded. They take this very seriously as there is no peeking and I still, to this day, do not know what the restaurant looks like. They even escort you to the bathroom blindfolded.Dining in the Dark is part theatrical. They have a singer for entertainment and a person who goes around massaging people. I wish there was an opt out choice for the touching. I dont enjoy strangers playing with my hair or touching my shoulders, etc. The singer was nice but expected us to sing with her. I love singing but did not come to dinner to sing choir. As for the food, it was lackluster. The portions were extremely small and each dish was cold. The soup was okay to be cold but the entree and crisp dessert should have been warm. The appetizer of bread tasted burnt. The wine pairings were good and generous. In the first 15 minutes, I had knocked over my glass. Thankfully, they were very forgiving about it.If you are thinking about dining at Camaje, skip dining in the dark. Your wallet will thank you and you will probably have a better experience.
