Micol and Dino were the perfect hosts and chefs for our families private cooking class. The food was amazing and we so enjoyed the preparation and a few laughs along the way. I would highly recommend any cooking class at Rusticos! They know how to make cooking fun, delicious and memorable!

My family and I had an incredible experience at our Rustico Cooking class. Micol and Dino went above and beyond to meet our specifications. We will return and I can proudly stand behind their teamwork.

Micol is a superb chef and an excellent teacher. Have taken 2 Rustico classes & both were a fun time. Be prepared to listen closely. Since this is a hands on event, leave your rings at home, have your nails cut short and bring a hair tie if you have long hair. Enjoy!

Friendly professional helpful staff. They taught me to make the best pizza in real Italian tradition! I highly recommend them.

We went here for an Iron Chef event with work. The instructions were vague, the ingredients that were provided were cheap and uninspired, and the meal cooked by the staff after we completed our challenge was nothing to write home about. The amount we paid left much to be desired, and I learned nothing of value. The cooking class reviews are very positive for this venue, so Id stear towards that instead! Just not a very fun time.

My wife and I have been to Rustico a few times. We went when we were first dating and enjoyed the experience together. We have now been back three more times and most recently, brought two friends (Dec, 2019). We picked classes with menus that we like because the food is delicious, and plentiful, which is certainly part of the allure. I like to cook, but am no chef. I find it fun to be involved in the process and I certainly love to eat! We have left each time completely stuffed. (They even have appetizers like sliced focaccia or frittata pre-made for when you arrive, because if you are like me, you certainly want something right away.)You learn quite a bit about techniques and how to combine quality ingredients for authentic Italian cooking. (The owners are Italians, and are very passionate about showing the proper way to do things). But, like all “classes” you get out what you put in. Others posted negative reviews, but probably because they aren’t willing “to get their hands dirty”. I don’t think those reviews were fair. It’s certainly a little busy - they have 3-4 professional steel cooking tables setup as work stations for about 30 people- and so they divide you up into little teams. You don’t get as much one-on-one instruction, but it’s a group class after all, and if you listen and want to learn, there is more than enough instruction. For instance, if you’re chopping veggies at the table, they have a camera over the stove to watch what’s being done with a sauce. Afterwards, they give you a recipe printed sheet of what you made and how you made it. We found it helpful to write some quick notes on the recipes, because the pro tips are really valuable. We could never make a good homemade pasta from scratch before and now at home, we feel like it’s actually coming along!for a full meal with a few glasses of decent wine, i think it’s a very fair price. You go for the experience and certainly get a very delicious meal.

I dont often write reviews but I have had such a great time attending Rustico classes (Ive been to 4 of them) that I felt compelled to share my experiences with other. My first class was a birthday present from my daughter. I was surprised that she would pick an Italian cooking class since I grew up eating freshly made pasta every week (along with all kinds of other Italian dishes) but she and I had such a great time making pasta and biscotti together that we did it again (a different class) and then my husband and I attended a class, and on 12/13 we did a family outing with 5 of us taking the class. The classes are fun, informative, and at the end of each class there is a sit-down communal meal served with wine. Obviously, some of the people taking the class are better home cooks than others but even experienced cooks can pick up tips (who knew you could take left over pasta dough, sprinkle it with sugar and cinnamon, pop it into the oven for a few minutes and have a sweet treat OR that you dont have to twice bake biscotti to get a really good cookie?). I enjoyed my experiences at Rustico so much that I bought gift certificates for friends and......I still make the fresh pasta and biscotti my daughter and I made in our first class!

Absolutely horrible experience! Spent over $500 on classes thinking I’d be getting a lesson, but really you learn nothing...instead you get to stand around for three hours watching a bunch of strangers cook what you’re later expected to eat? Sorry, but...ew. Not what I signed up for. Everything is done collectively as a group, so considering the large class size, most people never even get any hands-on experience. And if a bunch of strangers rubbing their hands in food I was supposed to eat wasn’t enough to turn me away, watching the teachers pour the leftovers from a previous class into the dish that was being prepared nearly half a day later was certainly enough to make me run for the hills. It looked far from appetizing. Sounds more like they’re they’re trying to save money instead of providing quality ingredients.Instead of offering recipe guidelines that you can take with you into the real world upon leaving, directions are barked over a bustling/chaotic/sweaty kitchen space and you take absolutely no skills with you upon leaving. Not to mention, for what you’re asked to pay, they don’t even provide aprons (but they’re required)! I ended up leaving the first class only 20 minutes in and came to a firm conclusion it was a waste of money and time. It definitely doesn’t reflect well on the staff that as I was leaving they corned my boyfriend and I practically begging us to stay for the class despite our protests (I mentioned I was pregnant and felt faint from the lack of ventilation, and they’re response was to push me to stay anyway...to the point where both of us felt extremely uncomfortable and we started to become irritated at having to continuously defend ourselves - yikes!). They sent me a message shortly after inviting me to bring a third guest to the next class for free; while it seems like a friendly gesture on the surface, I suspect they were aware from the moment we left that they simply mis-advertised and failed to disclose the true nature of the class on the website. When I later reached out to them to cancel the next class I had signed up for, they’re response was despite the heads up, they don’t do refunds. It’s terribly pathetic that businesses like this can even exist...it’s a total scam, and I feel absolutely dreadful for all the hardworking people who don’t have as much disposable income that have no choice but to put themselves through this completely disrespectful form of torture. Pretty sure it’s standard ethics to not scam your clientele and to not promise an experience that you have no intention of delivering.Avoid this place at all costs! There are plenty of amazing cooking classes in NYC that give you a full hands on experience and skills that you can take into the real world upon leaving - at a fraction of the price. Absolutely disgusted with myself for falling into their trap. Don’t make the same mistake, you’ve been warned!
