Jessa is so much fun!! The environment of this studio is so supportive and easy going. My boyfriend and I were in the city for the weekend and just took a 45 min class and would like to movie to the city just for this studio! Lol felt like I was at home right away. Experienced or brand new dancers can find a home here!

Our good friend surprised us with tickets to a ballroom dancing NYE celebration at Times Square. We were in NYC to celebrate our ten year wedding anniversary. Completely unexpectedly, we got a call from Fred Astaire Dance Studio to offer us complimentary ballroom dancing lessons in preparation for the ball. Even though we were flying in on the 31st, they were still able to squeeze a lesson in for us. In 45 minutes, Anthony expertly taught us four simple dances that encompassed every song they might play at the ball. Then, Tim and Alberto introduced themselves and told us that they were going to be at the ball as well and that we would be at their table. We were delighted to learn that the Fred Astaire Midtown Dance Studio would have the biggest and most central table at the ball and featured both of the main event dancers...including Alberto himself! They absolutely made us feel like family and not at all like people that just took our first ballroom dance lessons a few hours earlier!

My son has been talking about this dance studio now for several weeks. He said he knew one of the teachers from one of the many dance competitions that he attends. I often times visit New York to see him and last month he invited me to one of their practice parties. The theme was Argentine Tango. Not to toot my own horn but I like to think that I have some dance experience and I go to many dance studio and schools and have quite some experience with a large range of teachers and environments that I have liked and disliked. The studio was quite a surprise. I’ve never step foot in the Fred Astaire but I haven’t heard the greatest of things, until I walked into Fred Astaire New York Midtown and it proved them all wrong! They welcomed my son and they welcomed me and my husband David like we have been taking lessons there for years. I may not live in New York but anyone in and around the neighborhood should check it out. The teachers are phenomenal and the studio is well decorated and taken care of. It’s definitely on my go to spot whenever I visit New York City.

These folks are the kindest, friendliest and most supportive teachers I’ve met! Don’t be afraid to try a lesson here! They will take great care if you and your loved ones! They also host awesome practice parties and are great at training students to a high enough level for competition.

Probably my most FAVORITE place to be !!! I joined the Fred Astaire family three months ago and it’s been nothing but fun! Everyone was so welcoming and friendly. I decided to learn ballroom dancing as an outlet from all the stress from work and to also help me lose some weight (never been a fan of the gym). I had absolutely no idea what I was doing I had never done professional ballroom dancing before but Kristian (my dance teacher/partner) made me feel like I’ve always know how to dance. Everyone has been very patient with me in teaching me and everyone joins in to help you learn and are super supportive so I didn’t feel weird in being such an amateur. I seriously recommend that everyone give it a try you feel so graceful and are overcome by such peace when on the dance floor. Their parties are also LOTS of fun lol you’ll be wanting to perform in their showcase in no time!

I am a complete beginner and someone who has avoided dancing whenever possible. However, this doesnt go over too well with my wife. We recently decided to sign up for lessons to help deal with my two left feet. We have gone to a few classes now with Anthony and he is a great and patient instructor who really puts you at ease. The entire staff at Fred Astaire has been very friendly and knowledgeable. If you are on the fence or hesitant about signing up, dont be. Its certainly worth trial lesson to check it out!

Well let me start by saying that learning to dance has been on my bucket list and I have tried several of those initial dance lessons at various studios, after which they always tried to sell a series of lessons. I have never felt comfortable and left. However, after taking a lesson at this studio I was so comfortable and the instructors were so good at connecting with the student without pushing for more lessons that I immediately signed up for more and have not regretted it. They have such a warm, friendly atmosphere and all of the instructors are so talented that I have continued and enjoy it each time. I highly recommend giving them a try.

The Fred Astaire Midtown location is a wonderful place to learn ballroom dancing. The owners and staff are friendly, professional and energetic. They take their teaching very seriously, but do it in a fun and supportive way. Whether you wish to compete, prepare for showcases (the ballroom version of a recital), prepare a wedding first dance, exercise or simply have fun, this is a great place to go.

So I am an athlete and NOT a dancer as much as I’d like to think my high leg kicks and deep lunges are “dancing”. My fiancée and I wanted to take lessons for our upcoming wedding to blow the minds of our wedding guests and create an epic memory. We knew what song we wanted to dance to but needed the professional choreography (and just basic dance knowledge for me). Enter Fred Astaire Midtown; specifically the unbelievably talented Jessa! She is one of the most friendliest and down to earth people I’ve met in my entire life. She is such an amazing instructor and made me feel extremely comfortable despite my zero dancing background (my fiancée danced from 3 to 18 yrs old so she was much more equipped for this adventure). Jessa taught us a variety of different dance moves one by one and then leveled us up to string then together to our song. We are now a mere 24 days until our wedding and can do the entire dance together! Plus I’m even having a blast doing it! All the instructors are extremely friendly and so so talented. I’m so pumped to crush our wedding dance and can’t thank Jessa and Fred Astaire Midtown for molding me into the dancer I now am!!

This studio has a very welcoming environment and I have never experienced pressure to sign up for large blocks of lessons in advance. The instructors, as you would expect from Fred Astaire, are accomplished ballroom dancers, but most importantly, they have great skill and patience in the art of teaching ballroom dancing. As a relatively casual student, Ive taken lessons for a number of years, and have been able to observe students who were clearly just starting out become very skilled in an amazingly short time frame......it speaks again to the instructors abilities. Male students (such as myself) work with female teachers but there are always male teachers who happily jump in to demonstrate a tricky step when needed so that you get to see how its performed from the lead partners perspective. And these guys are really good. So you always get the feeling that the instructors at this studio are locked in to seeing you make progress as a ballroom dancer. My schedule is very restricted but there are endless parties, group classes, showcases, competitions and other social events for students to participate in. All in all, if you want to learn ballroom dancing, this studio should certainly get you results.

Fred Astaire Midtown is the best dance studio youll ever find. Ive been to a lot of dance studios but none of them made me wanna go back and look forward to my next class the way FADS Midtown does. Everybody working here (Tim, Kristian, Levani, Anthony, Mae, Mandi and Jessa) are amazing, and you feel like home as everybody is super welcoming. My instructor is Levani and I couldve not gone wrong with that. He is truly great and extremely talented. He is the sweetest and funniest person, very supportive, but on top of that he is very strict with his classes as he truly works hard and genuinely wants his students to succeed. If you really wanna learn how to shake it, dont hesitate to take classes here, whether its for a special event or just for fun; whichever instructor you choose, you will be in very good hands :)

I dont leave online reviews. I am leaving my first for Jessa. My fiance and I came to this studio as non-dancers looking to learn several dances for our mashup first-dance song at our wedding. We both work very long hours with fairly unpredictable schedules. Jessa somehow always made time for us -- weekends, late nights, early mornings -- you name it. Jessa exceeded all of our expectations. She designed/choreographed a dance for us to do to our mashup-up which is so fun, looks great, and is the perfect level of difficulty for our skill level. She is extremely warm but professional, talented yet humble, encouraging yet honest, and more dedicated to her craft than most professionals Ive encountered. If the other staff at this studio are anything like Jessa then you would be remiss not use this studio.
