Very beautiful and nicely run European culture center. Had fun attending a Maltese book reading at the center. The place is located in nicely looking building and got an attractive entrance.

It extremely difficult to get a hold of anyone here. I tried calling before I registered for a class to I could figure out what level to register for. But no one picked up or called me back. Then I registered anyway, thinking that once they know I am a paid customer they would put more effort. But even after that no one called me for a placement test or with information on how to join. I had to be the one to waste my time by calling almost daily. There were time when I was on hold for 40 min and then ended up hanging up. It’s really frustrating. Even with emails they are slow. I was expecting much better customer service considering how expensive it is. There is nothing good I can write about the class because I can’t even get over the effort and time it took me to register and get the book. Now I am trying to get a hold of someone for make up classes because I will miss two of my classes. And no one picks up again. Terrible customer service.

I had difficulty at first getting a class of the right level and the admin staff were not particularly helpful. Now Im in the right class, things are much better. The facilities are great. The teachers at IC in NYC are well above average. Thanks guys!

Im very dissapointed with Cervantes. Ill will . not recommend their academic department, very inexperienced and not very keen to help to the customersIm from Spain so I want to get some Spanish lessons for my kid on the weekends at the beginning of Septemeber I requested to look for Spanish teacher for my son. After one month and a half, and calling them several times, they can not provide us with any services. Its a very unexperienced academic department and without a reliable administration. If you can not provide the service, please inform your customer right away and do not create false expectations.

If you are interested in learning Spanish - Instituto Cervantes is your place! Big variety of courses of different levels and interests, courses for kids. Small groups. Certified teachers with extensive experience all native speakers. Teachers are from different latin countries that allows you to learn particularities of local language. Interactive learning tools available. Library allows to rent books and learning materials, as well as DVDs and music. Digital library is available. There is an exhibition gallery and movie showings. It is not a cheap place - but it is worth the price and quality is great. At the end you can pass an official certification Dele that is required if you wish to study in Spain or other Spanish speaking organization. I have started my courses 1,5 years ago - I am now able to read original books and watch movies and TV channels with complicated language without any problem. I can speak more or less free. And this is just in 1,5 years!

I attended a wine tasting here under the direction of Helio San Miguel. As part of the sampling I received two wines that had clearly spoiled. These classes are expensive, so I would have liked to receive wine that would actually be palatable to sample, and not something any sane person would throw away.He managed to spout off uninvited political discussion which included his self described Spanish right wing policies and beliefs. He also managed to declare the food of an entire ethnicity and I quote disgusting, and worthless. I would have expected more tolerant discussion and lighter discussion during a class.

Great place for events, and movies and art expos. The garden at the middle is very cozy and spanish melancholic. We went for a presentation to the downstairs auditorium and then for some appetizers at the expo sala.

What a shame to have participated in many events at this venue ... Until last night: October 1, 2019.. Last night, October 1, 3 different people, supposed employees of Cervantes, after having sent -via FaceBook the invitation to the García Lorca event, both to me and to my friend - North American, who proved that she had called to make 2 Reservations for the evening last night, we were simply DENIEDLY ENTRYED THE ENTRANCE, CHALLENGING THAT WE HAVE NEVER CONTACTED THE CERVANTES INSTITUTE and that, as we had not received the alleged E-mail we had no right to attend the event. -a man and 2 women, one of them, the one who very smiling let everyone who agreed to them pass in. In the past, I have attended, in the past, many conferences, especially, of the ANL.E. when Don Gerardo Piña Rosales was the director, retired and Honorary Director at the moment, what a shame !! Open discrimination against me and against this American poet and writer, lover of our culture, is something that n Or have words. She made reservations by phone and the person with whom she spoke, in English, by phone I NEVER ASKED ANY EMAIL, implying that she already had her reservations: I am a witness! Anyway. The Cervantes Institute serves those that suit them. Never, ever, it crossed my mind that, despite the fact that in FaceBook they announced that there were 25 people who planned to attend - this server, among the 25. - When I arrived, I saw, happily, that the patio was almost at the top, of many other lovers of the work of our GREAT playwright / writer and poet: Federico García-Lorca. Mrs). Director of what I thought - Instituto Cervantes / NY - was a prestigious and dignified representative of our rich language inNY / NJ / Connecticut. WHAT A LITTLE DIGNITY AND RESPECT REMAINS WHAT THE MOUTH FILLED ME INVITING YOUR CENTER: CERVANTES INSTITUTE -EXCLUSIVE FOR A FEW, VEDADO FOR OTHERS LIKE WRITING AS MUCH AS THIS WRITER AND NORTH AMERICAN POE TO WHICH INVEST SEE THAT THIS FRIEND WANTED TO DEEP MORE EVEN IN OUR RICH CULTURE, IN SPECIAL, OUR GREAT GARCIA LORCA. SR (A) DIRECTOR (A) YOU AND YOUR EMPLOYEES, BEFORE MY PERSON HAVE OPENED, OPENLY, BEHAVIOR BOTH SELECTIVE AS DESCRIMINANT! NEVER NEVER FORGET THIS OPEN REJECTION, BEFORE THE OTHER PRESENTS! I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS GREAT PUBLIC HUMILLATION! ON FACEBOOK, FOR ANY SIDE IT CONSIDERS, WHERE THEY SAY: YOU HAVE TO CONFIRM YOUR ASSISTANCE - I DID IT - AND YOUR CONFIRMATION WILL BE SENDED BY EMAIL. VI AS MANY OTHERS IF YOU SHOW YOUR ELECTRONIC CONFIRMATION. I am ashamed to have urged, until a couple of days ago, an American friend who wanted this retired Spanish teacher, her friend, to teach her private Spanish. I, very proud, sent it to the Cervantes Institute. However, this other friend, Yes, agreed to go with me to this event and was a victim of great humiliation. You give me a lot of shame as representatives of our culture in this great city! VIVIAN M. ESTRADA-MORA
