If your a veteran use your gi bill elsewhere or get a job at local shop and learn there within the year I was going here I did more to my own bike in my garage then I did at the school. Id say this school cares more about your attendance so they get there money to then they do your actual education. For me leaving this place was the best decision I made

I graduated from M.M.I.in 2002..I think..lol! Its been awhile and lets be honest. None of us are getting any younger!.I chose a career starting with motorcycle mechanics Institute. I learned everything I needed to start on a path that has been so rewarding. I never really understood what learning a trade was doing for myself. But here we are today and I am so grateful. I use everything I learned and more. I been able to have a wonderful career as a motorcycle technician since 2000. Now I have my dream man cave with the woman I love. What a life! And my motorcycle family is huge! This school is very strict for a reason. Motorsports repair is very important and not for everyone. It take dedication and being meticulous. Attention to detail and discipline with tools and how to go about diagnosing problems correctly. You cannot miss any class because so much is covered. Its very comprehensive and not for everyone. Dont feel bad.Im thankful for my career as a technician. UTI has taught me how to become successful. Thank you so much for the knowledge. Ive been able to turn that into profit! On a side note: you cannot not miss class! This isnt like college. This it very technical and extensive. You cant miss the lessons being taught, the test, the physical aspect wont allow it. You cannot miss what is being taught. Not even a day! It takes massive dedication. Most will never understand this. This is why many wont succeed and blame it all on everyone else but themselves. Rule #1 of life..Own up to your responsibilities! Its so easy to blame and pawn off your life excuses on everyone but yourselves! Take control of your life and do it! Dedication and perseverance will make you successful!

I came to MMI back in 2007 after serving in the military. And there seems to be quite a few veterans who come to this school along with a healthy sum of 30s, 40s and 50 year olds. What drove me to come to this school was the love for motorcycles and riding. I attended the Honda and Harley-Davidson programs and had done very well throughout my time there. After graduation in 2009, I had a difficult time finding a job with a motorcycle shop. Ive search far and wide throughout the south east of Florida, Georgia, Carolines, etc... These service shops of all brands and specialties were just not hiring like I thought they would be nor had been told they would. And the positions that were hiring had an enormous amount of job seekers submitting their resumes for that 1 position. The field of motorcycle technicians had been swamped and overcrowded. After failing to land a job and money running out, I returned to New York State (my hometown) and had finally found a job with a Harley Davidson dealership. I was excited to finally get my career started as a motorcycle technician. However, a year down the road of working as a tech, my passion and outlook for this field had since dried up. I no longer enjoyed the work and had my fill of customer relationships. Plus the high turnover rate of technicians slowly chipped away my moral. The money was just not there to cover living expenses and rent. And there was certainly not enough money to even buy a Harley at $10 an hour. I had felt that I had reached the end of my motorcycle career. Shortly after, I took a job at a factory making more than 3 times what Id be making as a motorcycle technician at a dealership. All in all, I had a great time at MMI. I found it fun and challenging and met some great people. The instructors, for the most part were great and there were some not so much. Though I think they are all probably retired now or moved on since. Ive come to realize that I enjoyed riding more than working on other peoples bikes. If I had to do it again, I would have chosen a different field. For those considering going to MMI to start a career, I would say that this is more for the enthusiasts hobby course rather than a career move.

You better know everything there is to know about your elective, because the teachers dont teach. Moto just passes you to get out of there, HD expects you to have learned something Moto never taught, and the teachers rely on you watching videos at home to teach. So the videos teach you, not the teachers. Then they will degrade you to try to make you quit, instead of doing what you are paying them for. If you are passionate about motorcycle mechanics, do not go here...find a shop to apprentice in.

This school is a waste of your time and money. Mr. Knowle is a lazy instructor does not want to instruct. He only wants to talk about covid 19 and does not act interested in answering questions. He only wants to sit at computer and eat or wash his motorcycle. Its sad because there are only a couple of great instructors that care about teaching there students. The best Instructors are Mr. Sanchez, Mr. Duray and Mr. Rydel and Mr. Hart... The other instructors let students who are not in the class come in and interrupt the class and then ignore you of you are trying to get your checkpoint grade. They pay the students who are not in the class more attention talking about there nee motorcycle. SMH this school is a joke. And dont let me get started talking about compass rose student housing. Do not get housing through them they are a scam. Do not go to this school save your money. And go some where else. The front office is terrible in the motorcycle building. The lady at the front desk in the office is rude and looks at you mean like what are you doing there you should not be here when you come in to get help or handle your business. The people that work in the financial aid department are rude and dont do anything but talk on the phone or are wondering around. But when you call them they are not available and dont return you calls once they get you in the school. They are to busy suckering new students to attend the school but once they get you in they treat you like you dont exist. One of the women that work in the financial aid department walks around with tons of makeup on and acts like she is the only person at the school and ignores you of you need help with your financial aid. Warning to everyone stay far away from this school and stay far away from compass rose!!

I had a great time at MMI like any school some instructors are better at teaching than others. I started with no experience at all, and I wont say they turned me into a mechanic, but I can honestly say I know the basic fundamentals now, and know enough to be able to follow a service manual and grasp what they are explaining. I feel confident enough to do basic maintenance on a bike now. Anything above that maybe not, but at least I have an understanding of what a shop mechanic should be doing if I do take my bike in for something major. I received the amount of knowledge I would expect for having gone in with no prior knowledge at all.

I am so worry of all the review that I read. It is more negative then positive and my son decided to study there.I cannot understand or tolerate a teacher with an attitude towards a student. They are there to teach and repeat what the student does not understand even if they have to repeat it 100 times. Not everyone learn the same way. Also the institution need to be sure all student have the tools to succeed.

Edit....I withdrew from a course on day four because I had issues with accessing the videos we were to watch prior to coming to class each day. I notified the instructor day 1, day two I told the admin at student services and reminded my instructor, day three I told a previous instructor I had and he gave me a tip to try and it somewhat worked allowing me to see two instructional videos, not nearly enough, so on Thursday I called and requested to drop the course due to technical issues and not being able to view the instructional videos and now being four days behind. They tried very hard to keep the money coming in by asking if I wanted to go to the earlier class....but how will that help if I cant view the videos I asked? I could view them before in the other 3 courses and could still view them easily even at school where the WiFi is so unstable I was asked if I was trying to use it to view videos and warned it didnt work well. Then I was asked if I would like to just finish the course online and not in the classroom....again I asked how would that be possible if I cant view this specific classes videos? I was told they were trying to find a way for me to finish the course since I was going to have to pay for it anyways. So I asked why I would have to pay for a course where I received zero instruction for the class because the videos wouldnt load and received no answer but an email stating Id been dropped from the course as requested. I sincerely hope that they own up to the issue that some were having and do the right thing, because Im not that Veteran to walk away. I will put them on blast.....local and national news blast with evidence. I even told them how I didnt blame them, there was a technical issue that needed to be resolved but I was too far behind to help. They needed to fix it and Id be back to finish the courses. But after this interaction.....nope. I will warn every single Veteran I know to stay away. Ive seen far to much shady things going on this last 10 weeks. Its sad too, because instructors like Mr. Sanchez, Mr. Redel, Mr. Davis and Mr. Johnson make that school a great place the few instructors who are there for the paycheck and the absent admin staff who never return calls or seem to care about anything but keeping you enrolled....they ruin it. Just look at the completion rate. I left my initial review below..... Guess I should have waited for that one huh?Student at the best technical school there is. Instructors are top notch and the hands on is more than you can imagine.

I was apart of the Legacy Program at MMI Orlando. I fully enjoyed my time at the school and would recommend if someone wants to get a good base underneath them for Motorcycles go to the Orlando campus.I was not a fan of the workbooks provided due to the curriculum being out of date, hence the 4 stars. The teachers who followed the books were misjudged by the student body due to the majority of us not being able to follow the flow of the books. The teachers who taught for the test then gave us practical information and honed our skills were favored because we were able to understand.Being my starting class was among the last of the Legacy Program we were able to see first hand the fall of skills in the accelerated program. Our fellow classmates had a hard time with the basics of almost everything. Example: They didnt have the skills to read a wiring diagram. They were struggling with the basic operations of the internal combustion engine. They could take a test any day and pass with a 100% but couldnt tell you why velocity stacks help the intake of the fuel/air mixture into the cylinder. As a motorcycle owner I sadly would have to say I would only trust 9 people out of my 65 starting class to work on my bike, and 3 out of my elective class. If the School focused more on routine maintenance and less on complete engine rebuilds I would feel better with the programs. I understand that the brands have certain requirements for the School to focus on but if they have more wrench time doing complete scheduled services I would have felt more confident in what I learned.

An ad for your motorcycle program came across my social media feed. It’s sparked some dark and depressing memories from when I attended your program in Orlando Florida. I was in school for around a year when I was asked to sign out and leave because my grades slipped. I was in the Honda program, I was struggling to keep any kind of good grades because outside of school I was working my tail off trying to survive. When I first started the program I thought I had it all figured out, I had money put aside and everything was going to be great. Unfortunately it was not like that, because I could not find employment for months, and pretty much lost everything I had. When I did finally find employment, I would be awake for 2 to 3 days straight between work and school. I was just trying to make ends meet and my grades began to slip. Long story short, months deprived of sleep and stress had led me to be kicked out of school because of my grades. No sympathy, no second chances, nothing. They got my money and that’s all they wanted. I was at the point of living out of my vehicle because I was so convinced that all the sacrifices would be worth it and school will work out. Never have I felt like such a piece of garbage and a number than I did while attending MMI. I will never recommend that school, that program. I know reading this will have no compassion from your administration, even your president will not care. When I did file a complaint, all I got was “he knew the rules, his grades dropped”. I was not partying, I was trying to work to survive, I could barely afford to eat, even had my power shut off. But I still made it to school. Shame on all your “promises”

I would and wouldn’t recommend the Harley Davidson program at this facility in Orlando. It is pricey. The front office is not there to keep you in school. I say this because of there attendance policy. Yes attendance is important on any job and you should be great it as such. Jimmy Mac is the only person I admire at the school. He is the truth in the Harley World. 😀. The school is too pricey for what your are receiving. The schedule they fit you under may cause conflict with your work life. You gotta eat. If you have like the VA paying for you I would recommend the school. If you are getting student loans, beware you may get stuck with a bill because you will get thrown out due to some unforeseen reason off campus. I have a almost fatal accident where there wasn’t much consideration for me not having to repeat a class I already paid for and was about to pay for again. Why would I pay twice? Just be careful before letting them take a loan out for you and one day something happens and they may not work things out with you after they have your money. I was paying out of pocket so I didn’t pay for the entire school up front. If you get a loan for the 30k, know that you better be there because they may kick you out of the school. Decent program with some policies that may need to be modified. Be careful. They will stick it to you

This is a military structured school . I would not recommend it for anyone who’s never been in the service. I’ve been a victim of robbery from the Orlando campus . I been neglected my education because of my powerful mind and not agreeing with certain situation . Never once have I disrespected any instructors or physically harm anyone . The fact that I’m not professional enough verbally to certain situations for the school they had terminated me and demanded me to pay the outstanding balance . I have my high school diploma and my associate in business management . My 12 years of school and 2 years of college I never once encounter the situations that takes place in the Orlando campus . I never once been in the service so the environment was not for me . I wish someone would had told me before they robbed me. I would have never came from Ohio to get treated the way they do. To any student that’s looking for a career with the MMI school I advice y’all to look at other schools and their reviews because taking it into consideration. Sincerely A victim of MMI

I love this school. If you’re driven and sure of what path you want to take for your future you’ll enjoy every minute. If you’re putting into it what you want to receive from it, like anything, it will be beneficial to your own personal success. I’m 8 weeks away from graduation and have not had any issues. The staff is very helpful, the instructors are knowledgeable and make things exciting. I ask a ton of questions and it has been very key in my development. I left a long term career to try something new and my newly developed passion for motorcycles and motorsports in general has really shown me that if you’re not doing what you love, you’ll never be happy. If you’re driven and dedicated, you will be successful and make money in any industry.

Reading some of these reviews gives me quite the laugh. Its a trade school and you get what you put into it. They dont guarantee you a full box of tools and a job on the way out the door. That takes something called personal responsibility and competence. With the assistance of Employment Services, I was able to find and secure a job before my graduation. Within two weeks of graduation, I was working as a technician in a Harley dealership and still happily am.

My soul advise for this school is close down and stop robbing families with a false dream. Get a real accreditation then maybe you can say that kindergarten program is worth 15k not 30,I actually graduated a master tech and its not provisional!! As a business they are horrible. The only thing they care about is your money. Their financial aid and student service departments are horrible. They lose paperwork constantly. They preach professionalism, but they are far from professional. Any money they owe you, they are slow at getting to you. Which puts you behind on bills. They mishandle money. They have gone against veterans disabilities. I have a 4.0 GPA. So Im not one of the students skating by, and there are many. In my 5th class and I have learn how to pass a test, very little on repairing bikes. The ONLY good thing about the school is the access to the Harley PHD program. All the instructors are very knowledgeable, but a few are not good at instructing. Granted its more the curriculum than it is their teaching. The biggest issue is the offices and the way the school is being ran. The last thing is your vehicles are not safe in MMIs parking lot and they wash their hands of it.

Well lets start by saying this school is one hell of criminal organization they pay off inspectors and they falsely advise students in a direction thatll end in disaster. The safety of students and staff is clearly of no concern to anyone in charge. They constantly force students into new schedules that conflict with the jobs they barely have thanks to the already horrible hours this school has. They are big on attendance for one true reason only..... they only make money if your here. They steal money from students as theyve been caught before. Then will blame the students for unfortunate events due to their own actions when actually the problem starts and ends with the school. They are disrespectful to students and to their own instructors which is baffling. I would never recommend a soul to attend here.

IM writing what I see and feel at MMI Orlando. My only aim is to graduate, even though I know MMI could have offered more training without obstacles of intimidation.Every student sould be joyed just being in uniform at MMI ,but bad attitudes from instructors can lead to low self esteem from students.Something got to change or MmI one day will deflate like a hot air balloon.God we serve say vengenance is min and He will repay. All I got to say if anybody think their pants is bigger than God,be froggy and contest to this.I not here to Degrade MmI ,but make suggestions for unity , care, development before its too late.

To ALL Veterans ...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL.I am retired E-7 from the Army, and have been to 2 different colleges prior to coming MMI. I was a year away fro graduating from Art Institution of Dallas, When MMI called. I was already receiving Federal Grants and student loans. I expressed concerns as well because i have a 90% Disability rating and was afternoon and evening classes. In which i was assured that would be No problem being that MMI had afternoon and evening classes as well. After quieting my education at AID and uprooting from Texas and moving to Florida, MMI at Orlando informed myself, my brother and a dozen other veterans that they only had morning classes. We had to attend 6 weeks of morning classes along with phone calls to Department of Education and Congressman to get afternoon schedules. After spending the entire 2018 year in afternoon classes, i took a Leave of Absence in December, when i returned to school in January i was put back into morning classes. Not only did my attendance percentage go down, which they count as part of you grade (ridiculous considering no other college campus does this) . My health went down as well, which is shown from my medical appointments and annotated my ALL my doctors. But i injured my back back on February 18th in MMI class of Power-train. And Ive been told there are NO afternoon classes, So basically a disabled Veteran cant get the school to accommodate his disability, which breaks the disability act.Problem #2 with this school is they Promote for student to fill out the FASFA to receive Federal grants and as well as student loans. All of these which i have also received in 2 different previous schools so i know and understand how it works. Federal Grants get sent directly into your bank account every 3 months, and the student loans come in a form of a check or Direct Deposit depending on how you want it disbursed. Not at this school. MMI hangs on to ALL YOUR money, and collects Interest on it, and gives it to you in $1219 stipend checks. The problem with this, is that ALL Veterans schooling is FULLY guaranteed by the VA, not to mention they are not suppose to hang on to student money. This is a HUGE problem with all the VETS at this school. I have requested I want ALL my money in the form of a check, as this money is our livelihood. I dont want to hear about how the school works, or you missed a class or failed a class, because i was in a morning class that i wasnt suppose to be in, and injured myself in YOUR classIts our money and we have the RIGHT to receive ALL of it as it supposed to be.I have called my Congressman and well as the Department of Education, I have reached out to Mrs. Devine of the VA who is charge of deciding which school the VA accepts, and i am currently contacting FOX News, to bring this to National attention, with a petition of ALL the veterans here at this school. I will also contact the SGT Major of Fort Hood and Fort Benning to let them know that they should not accept MMI into their ASCAP program for Veterans getting out of the Army.I say to MMI Orlando, you will give my money from Free grants and loan in ONE check and Put me in afternoon classes as I was promised and as I already stated over a year ago that was needed, be prepared to hear from every government agency to include my Congressman and Attorney. I also have my VA Doctors contacting the VA in Washington D.C. as well as my Congressman with my medical records showing my health decline since being at this school to include my injury at school in a morning class i should have never been in. Which will all make national media headlines . I would suggest giving me my money and putting me in afternoon classes.Veterans...Stay away from this school.

The instructors were good. The curriculum is not complete. For 30 grand, you get no instruction on how to take down and rebuild correctly, an onboard or an outboard. Your money gets you electrical, and lower units and how 2 and 4 strokes operate. With 3 weeks of pointless instruction in rigging. When you leave, you need more training in order to be a Marine mechanic. Dont go until they offer a complete course (like autodeisal, and Harley). You would get more at a marina starting as a yard boy and working up.

My start date is October 1st, 2018. I am enrolled in the Harley Davidson program at MMI in Orlando,Florida. Robert Dale and Bridget have been very helpful and amazing. My goal was to have my school 100% paid for. Mission complete. Im using my post 9/11 Montgomery GI Bill and a Federal Pell Grant. The school gave me a 10% discount. I applied for other Grants and scholarships not knowing if I might need them. Turns out I didnt and Im getting a nice chunk of money back. Over a couple grand back which will probably help down the road. The financial aid department told me that I got a relocation grant and an institutional grant. Also money that will be coming back to me.I read about how people say this and say that about this school and laugh. You get what you put in. If you dont work or dedicate yourself to be better then you wont succeed. Its all on you, not the school.Robert Dale has been amazing at answering any questions I have and has called me atleast twice a month to make sure that I have everything ready and in order or if I need anything before my start date.Jonathon Rodgers from financial aid in Orlando has been very helpful and amazing. He broke everything down and explained every detail about my GI Bill, Pell Grant and the scholarships I recieved.Would I recommend this school? Yes, I would 100 times over. I was raised and told if you want something bad enough you will work for it. I did what I had too and the school did the rest. Cant wait to start and learn a new trade.Thank you MMI Orlando. I graduated from the Harley program roughly 6 months ago from today. The school isnt a bad school you can tell that they try hard to do their best. The instructors I would personally say 8 out of 10 of them are good instructors. Had a few bad ones along with that Ive seen some very unprofessional behavior by instructors which was identified and notified to the education managers with no resolve to their unprofessional behavior. One instance an education manager tell me the instructor who was swearing and yelling at a student was having a bad day or bad week and its normal. Also I wish they would have informed me the career field in the motorcycle industry was $9-$12 an hour once you graduate. But there is better opportunity away from the Florida region is what Ive been told. Also the employment services do help you with a quick resume to send to future employers and they do send weekly emails after you graduate of employers int he area youre searching for that are hiring. I dont think any school offers this. If youre considering going to school here and youre not a veteran using the military benefits consider a few things.1) Student Cost to attend a program is roughly $30,000 and the pay rate when you graduate is $9-$12 hour roughly2) Housing (CHS) they put you in an apartment and overpack the rooms and charge you more than what it would cost to rent an apartment and find roomates and they have a penalty of some sort to get out of your rental agreement.

I wrote a older review that covered my experience with enrollment and financing. Ive now been here about 8 months, have completed the basic classes, and just begun my Harley Davidson specific stuff. That means, its time for a new review! One of the questions I get a lot is, Would you recommend this school to others? My answer is...It depends. In regards to the basic classes, the positives are that I really enjoyed the material, and have learned a TON in my time here. We may not always see eye to eye, but the instructors are all pretty awesome, and will put in the extra effort to teach you as long as youre putting in the extra effort to learn. You do get what you put in, and if you come to learn, that is exactly what youll do.The biggest negative to me is the schools attendance policy. Classes are all three weeks long, and you are allowed to miss 10 hours per class. Any time you miss lowers your grade. If you miss 10 hours and 1 minute, you fail that class. Some people like single parents or Vets with lots of VA appointments may have trouble with this. There are a few workarounds, if you go over your 10 hours to help you out. For some this is no big deal, for others, it can be a real pain.My main issue with attendance is that there have been classes where I would finish ALL my assignments early, and going into class just meant I was going to go in and sit on my thumbs for 5 hours. Now to be fair, could I find something to do, yea probably. However, if the curriculum has nothing left to teach me, I dont feel my grades should be dinged for using my time in a more constructive manner. The attendance thing isnt a deal breaker for me, its just a matter of principle. The Education Managers (EMs) are kinda like the bosses around campus and there are a few of them. Most are pretty great, but others...not so much. Now, I dont want someone reading this to think Im some dirtbag whos just complaining because Im failing a class. So, for the record, Ive maintained a 4.0 GPA for most of my time here, and take my education seriously. That said, when myself and a few others went to one of the EMs with a legitimate concern regarding the curriculum, our concerns were made light of and dismissed. Yes, it is true that we are students, but we are also *customers*, paying for a service. That service was lacking, and our attempts to address it were scoffed. Not good, but not unexpected either. For most people, This is how its always been is a good enough reason to continue doing anything, regardless how little sense it makes. Most of the school staff that students interact with such as Student Services, Employment Services, and the school store are all amazing. Theyre friendly and helpful and will help take care of whatever you need.So I guess thats it. Aside from the attendance policy (which I oppose more on a matter of principle), and a bad apple or two, I have really enjoyed my time here so far. The amount that Ive learned is amazing, and I have met so many great students and instructors. If working on motorcycles is something you are interested, get informed, and see if this school is a good fit for you. Cheers!

Im writing this as a Pre-Start Date review. A lot of people talk about the classes and such, but nobody addresses what happens before that. Im talking about getting enrolled, financed, and settled. This was by far the simplest and smoothest process Ive encountered. If there is anyone reading this that would like to attend, but not sure if you can afford it, CALL THEM!Once I called all my information was taken over the phone and the process was underway. They directed me to the financial department for funding. Now let me tell you, Ive had to fill out a FASFA before for my stepson, and it was a pain in the ass that took us about a week to finish. MMI has an entire department dedicated to making this as easy as possible. The woman I spoke to asked me questions on the phone, and had the FASFA *done* in less than 20 minutes. The funding I got from that, covered probably 95% of the cost. I covered the rest with a 4K outside loan. Less than a week total and I was enrolled and school was completely paid for. Everyone I dealt with was amazing, and the process couldnt have been easier. Now I gotta talk about my student advisor Jerome. This dude is awesome. Hes always available to answer questions, calls me on a regular basis to make sure Im okay, and has been there to help me every step of the way. Hes the kind of guy you want to call even when there are no issues, just to bs with, and hes good with that, lol.I will say that as I did my own research into the school (as everyone should before making any decisions), I did read a lot of negatives about the student housing. The main complaint was that it was far from campus and they had to pay tolls each way, for a price relative to your own place. Now places in Orlando are not cheap, but I was able to secure a small, cheap rental plenty nice for one person. Its 9 mile straight shot with no tolls. My point is that if you put in the effort to check things out before hand, you can identify potential problems and solve them. Its called troubleshooting, and if you cant do that, you may be going to the wrong school anyway, lol.Im starting school soon, and you can bet Ill do another review, but I wanted to give people some insight into the process itself. I hope someone may find this useful. If you love motorcycles, and this is something you want to do, then you should call them! Theres no harm in talking to them and seeing what they can do for you.

This school does not look after veterans as well as they advertise they have numerous class times but force you to switch to the mornings. I would not recommend this school to anyone

They all about getting your money especially if you are a veteran with benefits. Even if you already pay for the enrollment fee. Try to stay away from them.
