I have been a student at this school for a little over 2 years. I have experienced no problems as a high school dual enrollment student. For my program, it was required to come back to finish to receive a diploma. When I came back to the school now considered an adult student, I didnt even have a teacher on the first day. They hired 2 teachers for my program, but I suppose there were more students than anticipated (Im not sure how they didnt know how many were enrolled) but anyway- they split the class unevenly and from what I know, my instructor was not even informed of what she would be teaching. It was difficult because the first course we were in, there were many random people coming in to teach us and all of them had different techniques and different ways of teaching, id say it wasnt helpful to me. We moved in and out of courses and id say the book taught more than the instructor, but dont get me wrong- she did her best but most of the information provided was from reading the textbook. The specific course goals were unclear and students did not know what was important or not. When we moved into the laboratory to reinforce our skills, we were short on materials. We were short the whole time I was an adult. We finally went on externship, late. we were told that we could work close to home since there were a lot of places, but I was placed in lake nona when I lived in east orlando, almost oviedo. So I drove 45 minutes everyday for 6+ weeks. Since we went out late, I had to work the maximum hours of 40 hours a week unpaid- because I was moving away and my instructor and higher authorities knew I was moving- and I had a set date. I finally finished the second to last week in 2017. I have been out of my externship for 4 weeks and counting, and I have not received my diploma and no type of communication to exit the program on their behalf, If I did not contact someone I would have gotten no where. I am still waiting to exit the program, but I do not live in orlando anymore, so Im guessing its very difficult to do it electronically.. all of this was based on my personal experiences at this school.

My Son attend to Stemi program for the summer at the Avalon site. He speaks very highly of the program, In fact he comes home and speaks to me everything he has learned. I wanted to say thank you so much for this opportunity.

This school is so unorganized and they basically sell you a dream . They don’t have your best interest in mind , only anything to benefit themselves . There is only two amazing teachers that teach there but they ended up getting rid of one for no reason . Now they replaced the teacher with a lab aid who doesn’t know how to teach certain things and doesn’t treat students equally . I regret wasting a year of my life at this school and it wasn’t worth it at all . I do not recommend anyone to go to this school for the medical assisting program .
