Before signing my 2 children (5 & 9) up, I specifically asked what COVID-19 protocols were in place to protect students, staff, and minimize the spread of Covid. I was told emphatically that Covid was taken very seriously. I was thrilled to hear that all instructors are vaccinated and that masks are required for instructors and students at all times, (and parents were no longer aloud in dojo to minimize numbers, etc). However, when we arrived for our first lesson, neither of 2 instructors were wearing masks. More accurately, a mask was worn down around the chin of the instructor huffing and puffing instructions to the kids (who are not currently eligible for vaccination) and also by the instructor greeting us inside. I said that I was told explicitly that instructors and children were required to wear masks at all times. One instructor pulled up his mask and yelled to the other to pull it up (which he did, then pulled it back down again within minutes). We left after kindly explaining that we have seen first hand the devastation Covid can cause and we were clearly given misinformation about protocols. The instructor was apologetic but basically said that they do the best they can to keep everyone safe, but they can’t really stick to rigorous mask protocols. Having been a coach for many years in my life, I understand how challenging it must be to teach martial arts wearing a mask but these are challenging times and I expect more from the people we are leaving our vulnerable children with. It sounds like they are great martial arts instructors, unfortunately we will not know.

This run by one of the oldest martial artists families in Reno with history of training world champions. This level.of experience comes through in the quality of trading they provide.

Sensi Ryan and his staff are incredible. They have given my daughter a goal and something to work hard for. She practices at home and can’t wait for her next class to start. I am so glad we have found a home at Champion Martial Arts.

Sensei Ryan is simply incredible. I really wanted my boys to study martial arts, but he does so much more than just teach moves. He enriches their lives with wisdom, confidence, discipline, and fun. I experienced so much more than I expected. Watching my boys learn from Sensei Ryan is one of the most enriching things Ive done as a parent. I couldnt be more proud of the effort they give, and its the highlight of my week. I cant thank the training staff enough for all they do. If you want to invest in your kids future, this is the place to start. Both my boys aged 9, and 5 needed it for completely different reasons, and hes able to focus on each childs needs differently.

Did initial review and met Sensei Ryan, who my daughter immediately trusted. She will attend her first class tomorrow and is very excited--this has a lot to do with Sensei Ryans attitude with kids. He advised all the right points in which we believe our child should learn--positive attitude, self-discipline, and learning a new form of sport in a positive manner. Will update as we go. :)

Champion Martial Arts is a great place for your kids to learn not only martial arts but discipline. Sensei Ryan is an extremely energetic teacher who has no problem keeping the kids attention.

My kids love martial arts with Sensai Ryan. Discipline. Respect. Self confidence. Self defense. His classes are great.

My grandson is loving the camp here. Its nice to have more options for kids in South Reno. He comes back to Five Hearts Preschool and shows off all his moves that he learned in camp.
