I have been training with Shawn for a year now, and he has an amazing attention to detail, body mechanics, and technique. He always keeps class fresh, dynamic, and moving. Shawn has nearly 40 years of martial arts experience, he served at a sheriff deputy for about eight years he also was a bouncer in the gentleman’s clubs here in Reno for several years, so he has a wealth of first hand real world experience in self defense, which he freely shares with his students, what works what doesn’t, and what to watch out for.At Reno Krav Maga you will not just learn how to move your body, you will learn situational awareness and avoidance, physical conditioning, how to think in stressful situations, how to de-escalate a situation, proper technique, how to deal with multiple attackers at the same time, anatomy of the body, weapons training with a knife and hand gun, and movie quotes. Shawn and his partner Jess make a great team and make learning how to deal with violence fun and light. We laugh and have fun in every class. I have worked very hard and studied the material I have been given. Learning Krav Maga has been very rewarding in self confidence, physical exercise, mental awareness, and positive growth.Reno Krav Maga is not easy, it is not a place to learn the one secret move, it is a positive place to grow and learn with good-hearted people, did I mention you will learn proper technique? We work hard on the mat so we don’t have to work hard on the street if a confrontation ever comes your way. Shawn is a very knowledgable instructor. Ive been around martial arts for a long time. He really knows a lot more than just Krav Maga. Hes very passionate. Hes been teaching me with very detailed and patient instruction. Everyone that I have interacted with there is very nice and helpful. I highly recommend Reno Krav Maga to anyone that wants to learn how to defend themselves or just get in shape.

I am a student in the Krav Maga classes and also took the recent Knife Combatives Seminar. Both experiences are incredible. Sean has a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of self-defense as well as having a traditional martial-arts background. He is very thorough with his introduction to new techniques and has a great teaching philosophy. He believes that with repetition you get perfection, so rather than throwing too many complicated moves at you he focuses on a methodical teaching practice that ensures each and every student walks away with a profound understanding of what they are learning and how to apply it in a real life situation. I could not be happier with these classes and with his instruction methods. You will not find a better instructor anywhere else.

Not sure if the instructors actually view their website or update it however, the schedule that is posted online is slightly the opposite of what is posted on the front door of their Dojo. Therefore for those of you who live far away and decided to not call and just show up for a combat fitness class but dumbfounded to find out that theres only Taekwondo private lessons held at that time then its okay to blame the website for false information.
