Good pre-schools should help the whole child grow, prepare the child for kindergarten, and provide the structure to prevent the child from hurting his/herself or others. I give RHM a perfect score for all these criteria. They also provided wonderful activities, a very enriching environment, and enough age appropriate structure for kids to enjoy. I will strongly recommended.

A waste of time.....again. My child interviewed 3 years ago when he was 2 for the primary and they denied him right after they saw we had applied for financial aid. I was told by Parham, in charge of admissions back then, that my son did not seem to socialize much with the other kids and that they could not provide us with any financial aid. Okay, understood. My son ended up at another montessori and has done amazing. He is above math grade level and is an eager learner. We decided to apply to RMS again since he will be going into elementary this September. They were impressed with my son. Hes been reading since the age of 2 yrs and 8 months and is a wiz at mathematics. After his first initial interview at RMS Maureen who is now in charge of admissions extended an offer to my son. We thought great! I had not mentioned yet, however, that we had applied for financial aid. I wanted to see if they would bring it up or if anything would change. Well, Maureen had our son come back to get figure out what class to place him in. All went well. Then I finally mentioned the financial aid. Then Maureen all of a sudden dropped communication with me for 2 weeks all to call eventually and say they cannot accept my son. I asked why and she replied with I cannot say. WOW!!!! you guys are disgusting! The school just received a donation of 200K that went directly to financial or so you say it did. I just do NOT understand why offer financial aid if you only accept students who will pay full tuition?! Waste of out time since this has been a process of 3.5 months. All this showed was that your institution is money hungry and money driven not child centered or driven. Im glad my child will not be attending. Dodged that bullet.

Our five-and-a-half-year-old son Sam is in his second year at RMS as a P3 (kindergarten) in Ms. Guptas class. We (my wife) did lots of research into private school options in the Richmond area, including site visits and even successful applications to other schools, and we chose RMS for its diversity, nurturing environment, and well-proven pedagogy. Sam is thriving at RMS, learning math, language, reading, geography, and science, among other subjects, beyond what I thought kindergartners were capable of, not to mention embracing what it means to be a good person and a positive part of his community. He loves going to school and talks with enthusiasm at home about his friends, teachers and the things he is learning there. We could not be happier with our decision to place Sam at RMS, and have re-enrolled him for first grade in the fall. Nothing is for everyone, but Id encourage any parent who wants to make sure they put their child in the best educational situation for them to give RMS a hard look.

I was going to enroll my son into the toddler program that they said they had availability in. Well they had me fill out a financial aid application and pay for it upfront without going any further. Okay, so I did. They never followed up with me so I called them. Turns out they had NO availability in toddlers...but you told me yes and I already paid the application fee...hmmm...okay. Then they suggested for me to enroll my son in primary 1 after he turned 3. Convinced this was the best school (in Richmond) for my son I waited and they finally followed up. So my husband and I attended another parent interview in which then I told them that my son started receiving speech therapy because he has delayed speech. Grainne, the head of school acted shocked and concerned (not something I wouldve expected from such an elite and free thinking school). Well they scheduled my son his interview. At the time of interview he was 2 years and 7 months. To be in primary you child has to be 3 minimum. Why they scheduled his interview so early??? I will never know. In his interview my son, the toddler who was used to being at home with me only did not want to participate with the other kids during circle time. Apparently this was enough for RMS to decide that my son is anti-social and is not a good fit for RMS. Wow! okay...thanks for wasting my time and taking my money. I dont know if my son was discriminated against due to his speech delay or what; but over all our experience was bad with RMS. It showed me that RMS is nothing but a snobby pretentious school who do not care about what is best for the children just about their statistics.I am not raising my son like that so I am glad he is not attending.
