I used Kensington Makeup for my wedding (both hair and makeup). I had 15 girls using their services and they were very organized and everything went super smooth on the day-of. Every girl was so happy with how their hair and makeup turned out, which was really important to me. I ended up switching artists after my trial, but they made it easy to schedule another re-trial and they really did just want me to feel good about the way I looked- which I really appreciate. My only complaint is their timeliness on responding to email/communication prior to the event. Megan, who did my hair on the day-of, stayed later to help everyone with touch-ups and for some photography shots.. She really went above and beyond on the day-of and did such an amazing job on my hair.

When I came across Kensington I was going through a rough patch and not sure what I wanted to do. I’ve now taken a few makeup classes with them (makeup essentials, makeup fundamentals) Every instructor I’ve had has been so knowledgeable, kind and genuinely seem excited to teach. I’m glad I came across this school when I did. I feel like I now have a sense of direction I’m going for, for my career and I’m excited to take more classes with them.

This program gave me everything I needed from confidence in my ability to all the knowledge I would need to go far in this field! I loved everything about it and would recommend it to anyone who’s looking to do hair or makeup professionally.

ESaul & Jenn were INCREDIBLE! I hired Kensington for my wedding party. Not only did we love our looks, but we enjoyed Saul’s & Jenn’s energy. They were very friendly & very professional. It felt like our friends were doing our hair & makeup. I was extremely happy with their work. Saul especially was talented in contouring & giving me a gorgeous classic & vintage look. Jenn did amazing with nailing the hair to match. I was super happy & I felt so beautiful on my day. I’ve never felt so confident in my life! I graduated the 90 hour makeup fundamentals course, and it was amazing! There was so much I didn’t know about doing makeup on others! It’s so easy to perfect a look on your own face but when it came to others there is a little more too it! My teacher Elyse is amazing and helped me feel more confident in my skill! Not only her but Holli and Natasha were available for any questions you may have had! It’s a positive environment and I would defiantly recommend! I’m already signed up for additional hair classes and makeup courses! ❤️

Holly and the her team were amazing. My hair turned out beautiful and so did everyone elses. The reason I am leaving a 4 star review is due to Natasha. Myself and my mother sent in photos multiple times in reference to my bridesmaids and their hair. I had a bridesmaid who was part African-American and part white. Her hair is more like a fro when natural. I asked multiple times if she should come natural and continuously got told they cant tell me what needs to be done. However, if she is that worried about she should come in for a trial and pay for it. Unfortunately, my bridesmaid was unable to afford yet another expense for the wedding for a trial. I was told she should not straighten her hair and to come natural. This is what was done. The first thing I was told when we arrived by Lidia, I believe, was that her hair should have been straightened. Why this information was not told to me the MULTIPLE times I asked is beyond me. Due to this, this particular bridesmaid had to have her hair redone 5 times before it would hold long enough for my wedding. My bridesmaid spent over $150 for hair and makeup to have it continuously not hold. Along with this, Natasha sent my mother a schedule for the day of my wedding. This included who was getting what done when and by whom. However, when we showed up the day of the wedding no one had any idea what we were talking about. It was very unorganized and in my opinion if you are emailing us a schedule the team arriving should also be given this. I did not know I needed this document with me the day of the wedding because I felt they would know who they were doing hair and makeup for. Like I said at the beginning, Holly and her team were amazing. However, there was no organization and simple questions were refused to be answered. There is no reason if I explain someones hair and sent photos why I could not be informed that one particular bridesmaid she have her hair straightened before arriving, especially when this was the first thing said to us day of the wedding.

If I could leave more than 5 stars I would. At first I was hesitant because I didn’t know which school would best fit my needs and didn’t want to invest in the wrong one. First time I went in, in the back of my head I knew this was the one. This academy has helped me grow so much as an artist in areas I didn’t realize I needed to as well. The instructors are amazing and the environment is super inclusive. So many doors and opportunities have opened up for me while also giving me the information on what it takes to run a successful business. Hands down, best makeup school in the state!

I just graduated last month and it was honestly the best experience ever! I meet so many nice and caring people, I also have had so many opportunities such as fashion shows, pageants, and photoshoots. If you are looking to do freelance or just learn more about makeup/the business side of makeup I highly recommend the fundamentals class, I loved it I feel more confident about everything now thanks to my awesome teachers❤️

Attending Kensington Makeup Academy has opened so many opportunities for me, and all from just enrolling in one course! I was provided with not only great techniques and tricks to help make me a better artist, but the training to become a professional. I love this company, the amazing team, and my fellow classmates. The reason I am giving them one star is because with the current situation of COVID and all the uncertainty, we decided to cancel our wedding. We were fully refunded from our venue and other vendors but they would not refund the deposit. This is something out of our control. I cannot speak on there talent but I will warn anyone planning on getting married, hope there is not a pandemic or catstophroic event because they will not refund, so think before you book. At this point I would not recommend them to anyone.update: they are working with me on this situation, they are currently going to provide hair and make up for me. So i will not be loosing any money. I would recommend them. They have rectified the situation.

After finishing the four week makeup class I feel more confident than ever. Holli was an amazing teacher, she was very professional, but made the class fun! I really enjoyed coming to class and learning something new every time. The class was well structured and very informative. I came into this academy with absolutely no prior professional experience and after graduating, I am blown away with what I can do and have already accomplished. Not only do they teach you the technique, but they also teach you the science behind everything. You go into shoots and jobs being very knowledgeable and professional. I had been doing a little freelancing before I came to Kensington Makeup Academy but I felt stuck with very little work opportunities. Finding KMA was one of the best things to happen in my makeup artist career. I learned so much more than I expected and have had so many more doors open up for me upon completion of the makeup course. Super disappointed in the process of Kensington yes it is written in the contact that they have a holding deposit of 25% of the class which was $700. I lost my sister and had to fly out of town and couldnt attend. They didnt help me out at all with getting any of the $700 back which would help out a lot since I had to leave my job. The school isnt even credited so its not tax deductible or beneficial with any large companies like ulta or sephora they dont consider them a credible school. Such a disappointment.

I took the Makeup Artist Certification Course at Kensington Makeup Academy and I didnt expect much from it but the basic knowledge I already had. Since the very first day I was thrown aback on how much I didnt know! It was so easy to learn many new things because Holli is a great teacher and goes into detail with everything. I also loved that we had hands-on learning more than anything. Its really opening so many doors for me in the makeup industry. And I definitely recommend it! I learned so much from this experience that I even decided to take the studio hair styling certification, and so far its going great as well !

I learned so much from taking the makeup course at Kensington Makeup Academy! Holli is a phenomenal teacher who is really well educated in the subject and able to convey it easily. I loved practicing the techniques I learned in class and Holli provides ample opportunities outside of class to learn further. I highly recommend KMA.

I loved the whole course. Holly is a great educator, she explains everything very well and it shows that she really wants her students to learn. The only reason why I do not give it 5 stars is because the makeup brushes included in the package are of very poor quality and because they did not give us the diplomas in a formal way.
